The Elf Princess

Sebeen smiled at him and thought for a moment. It was still light outside and the air was warm in the castle.

"Do you want to take a walk around the grounds or visit the gardens that I spoke of earlier.

She would be content to just sit and look at him.

Sebeen thought for a moment and smiled.

"The garden has a maze, I am not allowed in there as it is easy to get lost in there, but with you, my personal guard to look after me and guide me, it should be alright"

Sebeen had often wanted to go into the maze and she thought now was her chance. How could her Father be angry with her with a warrior to guard her.

She smiled at himl.

"It would be a grand advanture, are you good with directions, Ashton"

A little nervousness was natural she thought as she was about to disobey her Father.

Sebeen smiled and a little twinkle found its way to her eyes. She was feeling quite naughty to be doing something that she was forbidden to do.

"I will show you the way to the garden but you have to promise me not to lose me in the maze. I have a bad sense of direction"

She lead the way through the castle to the back door and when she opened it there was a breathtaking view of a garden filled with every flower imaginable. The aroama of them filled the air. She took him down a path through them. They came to a wall which at first glance seemed to be solid. Sebeen grasped his hand, for a moment it seemed she was going to walk right into the wall but then when she turned right, there was a clear path which she walked down. When she stopped, the huge maze was in front of them.

"Isn't it grand"

Ashton grinned, looking at the maze. It reminded him of one he had seen years ago. He took her hand, and started to lead her through the maze. It was made of hedges, and he had his eyes closed as they walked. He seemed to do better with his eyes closed than he would with his eyes open.

Sebeen's eyes were wild open as she looke about her. It was thrilling to be in the forbidden maze. She could see why her Father denied her this for so long. She would have been lost in here for years. Ashton seemed to have no fear of such a task. She held onto his hand tightly. She had faith that he would know what to do.

Ashton stopped, opening his eyes, slightly confused by a hedge in his way. He studied the hedge quietly. "There should be a path through here."

Sebeen looked at the hedge and shrugged her shoulders.

"Do you think we have gone as far as we can go Ashton, Could this be it"

Her voice had the sound of disappointment. She had expected a great adventure and they had found a dead end.

Ashton looked at the hedge, then closed his eyes again, and stepped towards it, putting his hand up. As they stepped closer, they passed right through it.

Sebeen pulled back slightly as they approached the hedge but Ashton held her firmly. They past throught the hedge and surprise showed on Sebeen's face.

"Oh my an allusion, how did you know that Ashton"

Ashton shook his head. "I didn't. I could see the hole in my mind's eye, but when my eyes were open, it looked like a hedge. So I guessed."

Sebeen smiled at him.

"A very good guess, do you do that often when walking through a maze"

She wonder if this could be the trick how a person got through a maze by guessing.

Ashton smiled, then shook his head. "The Third Eye can allow you to see things you can't see. It's more effective than using your eyes, which can deceive."

Sebeen listened to Ashton as he spoke. She really didn't know what he meant.

"Ashton, what do you mean by a third eye"

She wanted to understand him.

Ashton grinned, and turned to look at her. "Think of it as a mental eye. Using it, you can see past deceptions, illusions, and such."

Sebeen listened to Ashton and thought for a moment.

"Do you have much of that in your life, I mean deceptions and illusions"

She sighed.

"I dont think I have as I never go anywhere to meet those kinds of people or get into strange and dangerous situations. Don't get me wrong I love my Father and cannot think of a better place to be then here but sometimes I wonder what is out there beyond my Father's lands"

Ashton smiled. "In my experience, every setting has its dangers. But the human world is built on deception. Our governments deceive us about the truth because they think we can't handle it yet. Of course, they are probably right."

Sebeen did not know what to answer to this as her life was one that to a man like Ashton who seemed to enjoy danger and figuring out deceptions must seem boring. She had always be protected and cherished by her Father.

"It must be a very scary place your world"

Sebeen tilted her head and looked up at him.

"You must find this place very boring in comparison"

Sebeen laughed at how cutely he had said that. Her crystal blue eyes looked into his.

"Shall we continue our adventure deeper into the maze, my warrior"

She held his hand tightly as he seemed to be staring at her.

"So which way do we go now"

Ashton looked around, and then closed his eyes, concentrating. Then he led her through an archway, into an area with a big fountain in the middle.

As they walked through the archway, Sebeen's eyes fell upon an ornate fountain. The water seemed to come out of the top of the huge fountain and was caught on the next level. From there it poured out of several urns carved into the fountain which poured the water like rain over beautifullly scultured statues of couples embracing. It then filled the huge basin that was the fountain. Sebeen turned to Ashton.

"Isn't it beautiful"

Ashton grinned, opening his eyes and examining their surroundings. "This must have taken months to build."
