The Authors' Hangout Summer Lovin' Contest 2011 Support Thread

On a scale of 1-10, how hard is it to write a story for a contest?

A one! You just write the story that you have in your head. In this contest just make sure that some of it takes place in the summer.

Nude contest rather self explanitory.

Most contests are like that. Don't worry about what others think or want. Just do your thing and write your story.
Best of luck to you.

Thank you, I don't know if I'll participate in this one, I've got rather a lot going on just now, but I'll have to try it some time

I found I could write a short story in a day if I have the idea in my head. You have a month, just give it a try. My problem is my shorter story days are somewhat in the past. Now I look to have characters with feelings and try to raise the emotions of the reader.

Tatyana: Your new avatar=meow! :catroar: I haven't even looked to see if you and PennLady have stopped with the scrumptious baking pics, yet.

Yes, I think we both decided to give estragon his thread back. Unfortunately, it was before I could include this picture of me putting away the dishes.

Ladies, if you kept posting the pictures, you could keep the thread. You're a hell of a lot more interesting than I could ever be. To say nothing of how much better writers you are.:rose::rose::rose:

If they keep the pictures coming, I might just have to contribute too....maybe. *hehe* ;)

I'm afraid I'm a bit too pissed at the baking gods right now for more sexy baking pics. The kid woke up early from her nap as I was baking bread, and since I'd already mixed the yeast in the milk/water, I couldn't postpone. I plopped her in her high chair, turned around to put the attachment on the stand mixer and... crash. About six cups of flour, all over her, the floor, the table, the chairs, the A/C vent....

Sigh. I guess I didn't pull her far enough away from the counter. At least she thought it was hysterical and giggled like crazy.

But no work on the story this afternoon. All of my time went into Operation Flour Cleanup. Thank goodness I used whole wheat flour; it's less... flighty than white.

Off to write more of my story, which involves absolutely no baking.

Bummer, Tatyana! That's when you put the little one out of reach, behind gate, in crib, etc - roll around in the flour, get some hot flour prints on your ass and breasts and know that you are a sexy baking goddess. Snap a pic and giggle hysterically with her at the joys and follies of motherhood. If only for yourself!

I slammed my breast into a brass bedframe today trying to reach under the bed to retrieve my little one's binky that she tossed.

I said, "Ow, my boob!"
She came over, giggled, reached up and said "Boob have booboo? I fix it." Then she went a step further with "I kiss it." *laughs*

Maybe it's just what you needed?

Did the bread get baked eventually? Or finger to the baking gods?

Bread's rising in the fridge overnight. And while I didn't giggle, I did the next best thing: after cleaning her up and going through a series of kneads and rises, I went to the store and bought a bottle of champagne (OK, it's Spanish cava, but you get the idea).

So now I get to sip "champagne" while writing the summer lovin' story, listening to bluegrass, and watching a thunderstorm. :)

Still chuckling about "boob have booboo"....

I may be one of the few who does not have Scouries on iggy. Some of his posts are amusing, and I might even get ideas from them. He did suggest a story about the Gay Pride Parade in SF, which is a summer event, and I started a story on it today. :)

Despite what I said on the previous contest thread, I only expect to enter two stories this time.

Making headway with my serious entry but not getting anywhere with the Once Upon story yet.

21st is coming soon!

Making good progress on my entry. It's been a long time since I've had a contest entry. Should be fun. Hope everyone else is making progress as well.

One is finished and in need of an editor before I fiddle with it too much.

The other two are going slow but they are going.

I'm still chugging, in terms of both coffee and writing. I was hoping to get the story done before the contest starts, or at the very least near the beginning, but now I'm not so sure. Now the last day is seeming more likely. Sigh.

The research has been difficult, to say the least, but hopefully no one finds any huge holes.

Still working on mine. Got some research done for the one, and got a completely different story out of my head and on "paper" to make room for the other.

Environment not conductive to writing earlier, so I took a break and did my quarterly pen name track. Sitting with an average score of 4.67 on 164 submissions totalling 1,619,317 words. 20,329 votes, 3,826,280 views, 1115 Public Comments, 260 story favorites.

I'm happy with it :)

Now that things have chilled again, time to see if I can get a little farther into Blessing of the Wood.

Had a break from the story while my laptop was out of commission. Got a new charger and it's happy again. Also spent a couple of days celebrating wee pixie's birthday. I love "free" - so imaginative!

Noticed the lack of erotic/sensuous redheads in pictures for story inspiration (likewise finding a redhead as part of a couple - even harder finding them in a beach/ocean scene). Addicted To Redheads is mostly single nudes. (I  Tumblr.) So I decided to remedy that a little. Wonder if I'm brave enough to post a few of my pics. Nothing terribly naughty, but enough for this bashful faery. My naughty inspiraton suggested using one as my avatar. *gulp* Don't know about that....

I am so glad you're back!! It was boring without you, lol. (I got your message on fb too btw, just haven't had time to reply. :))

Yes! Do it! I wanna see boobies!!!!!
What? It had to be said. :p LOL.

Mine is still coming along.. didn't realize the deadline was so soon. Yikes!

There are plenty of sensuous and raunchy redheads here. Maybe more than you want to see. This is from a place where I get much of my inspiration for stories. WARNING: These are strictly smutty pictures and video clips:

Likewise! Alas EmKit, no boobies in these unless you count the cupping of one. Low quality too. Where would I post them, anyway? :catroar:

Boxlicker, good point. I should rephrase that with erotic, sensuously, tasteful - not so pornish. Thanks for sharing. I do see some that fit the description. ;)

About the contests...

I used to get angry that I couldn't win a contest here, after I worked so long and hard to write the best story that I could.

I used to get angry that my scores were never high enough to even earn a red H, especially when I've read other writers who don't write as well as I do.

So many of the writers here, writers who have never read any of my stories, publicaly voiced that because I write so very many stories, none of them could be any good. Go figure. Then, when I respond to their bashing of my writing, I'm the one who is put on ignore. I'm the troublemaker.

Yet, to me the proof is in the pudding. Whenever I look on the lists that count, the 30 day, 12 month, and all-time most read stories, there I'd see stories written by AndTheEnd, Bostonfictionwriter, CarBuffStuff, PositiveThinker, WmForrester, and now SuperHeroRalph.

I've had more than 200 stories hitting and falling from all three lists. How can that be, if my stories are so bad? Why would so very many people, more than 60 million, last count, read so very many of my stories?

More puzzling than seeing my stories on the most read lists, stories that didn't come close to winning a contest, is that, as far as I know, none of the winning stories have appeared on any of the most read lists. Now that's strange.

Why is that? Why are so many of my stories so read and the contest winning stories not so much? I mean, if a movie wins the Oscar, if a book hits the best seller lists, it's because not only is it wicked good but also everyone goes to see the movie and reads the books.

Yet, that's not how it works here. Unfortunately, the best stories seldom win the contests. That's so sad that we can't have one place where all we writers go to write for free, I might add, and feel assured that our strories will be treated fairly.

Now forgive me for being so suspicious but all that I can come up with for an answer is that either this is a popularity contest, instead of a writing contest or these contests are fixed.

Then I had an idea.

Why not judge the winning story by how many hits the story earns? Sure, they'll be someone pushing their open and close key thousands of times, but Literotica can make their opening the story not count, just as we can't even vote for our own story.

Nah, that would never work because, then, someone like me, someone who supposedly writes crappy stories that are read by so very many and that routinely make the 30 day, 12 month, and all time most read lists, may have a chance at winning a contest.

I feel better now that I voiced my opininon. Read this or not, it doesn't matter. What matters is that I have the balls enough to write what so many others are thinking.
