Welcome to the one and only OFFICIAL Literotica Summer Lovin' Contest Support Thread

Please ignore the idiot above that is advertising a fake organization and a fake contest.

As usual, his only reason for being here is to disrupt the real contest and this thread.

End of public service announcement.

I'm thinking about a trek through the murky waters of LW, just for shits and giggles. Not to say I won't do my best, but I can already imagine the comments I'll receive for doing it.

You might end up as a serious contender for the Last Place (tm) Contest once the LW votes are counted.

It's not as bad as some make it out to be. I have wrote a numbe of LW stories. You should get a lot of votes and reads. Kind of a hard category to win contests in but fun to read the comments.
Best of luck to you
DG

Ok so...the contest is up...that means I need to start working on a story...but god i hate summer grrrr. Ok I'll figure it out...this is gunna take a lot of alcohol...

...I can't stay on task! lol.

I'm not sure if this story I am working on is going to work for this contest..
Why does this one seem so hard? :p

I'm glad it's not just me!

I need rules. This one is so anything goes, I'm afraid I'll manage to write about the one thing that doesn't fit with the theme. :(

How do First Time stories usually do? My story has really taken off, but I'm afraid it is becoming too lengthy. Guidelines for length in contest? Thanks! :)

No limits on length.

As to how they'll perform:

Long stories tend to score higher ( as only those who enjoy it stick through to the end, and tend to outweigh the people who will skip to the end and low-vote when they don't like it )

Views will suffer, because the dominant readership is here for a quick fix. Once they see the listing of page numbers at the bottom, they run for the hills.

First time seems to have a solid readership, although the dominant part of that readership is for virgin girls. Virgin boys don't get the same response. "First time I did XXXX, but I'm not a virgin" also doesn't do as well.

My guess is that unless it's *really* long ( I'm talking over 4 Lit pages ) that the first time readership will get you easily into qualifying range, as long as it's a virgin girl story. Probably a bit dicey if not.

We will sure miss you, DG. Maybe you will find the time as we still have quite a few days yet.

Hey Tex! I was going to write a sequel but put it on the shelve for now. Started a new story and will probably enter it in the contest. Will have to finish it first. haha

Have 10 pages written and haven't got to the summer part yet. Have a lot of loving written though. LOL.

It's odd but if something comes into my head it doesn't take long to write it. I sat here and wrote those 10 pages in a few hours. Probably going to be a few lit pages long. Don't know how to write the shorter ones anymore.
Thanks for the invite
With respect

I've never been able to write the short ones and the more I write the longer they seem to take to tell the story. I'm not sure what it says when a novel is easier than a short story. The one I have finished started with the summer and took a while to build up to the lovin' but once it got there, it was like the energizer bunny.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks Dark. It's at 18,000 words. Even that length won't deter? It doesn't matter too much contest-wise because I'm not allowed to place for awhile now, but I wanted to see if it's even worth posting something that long. It might end up having more than one part to it, eventually.

You're not that far beyond the wordcount of my last several Wood tales. 14,580 - 17,536 - 13,960 - 16,350

Of course, Sci-Fi & Fantasy readers are more open to longer tales than a lot of categories. I've never really looked at performance of a long story in First Time. I should think that the higher readership of the category would balance, even if there is a preference for shorter stories.

In the end, if it's what you want to write, and it fits the theme, post it! :D

Yes. Exactly. The Halloween and holiday contests are easy... kinda no brainers there, lol.
This is one is so open... my story is taking place in the summer... its hot... do they need to go swimming and lay out and wear bathing suits and go on picnics? lol.
What exactly does this summer business entail? I don't like this open-ended-ness! To the point I just made up a word! :p

I've got two rolling. One will probably be done before the week's out. The other will take longer, and I'll likely have to push to get it finished in time. It's flowing nicely, though.

Yes, I'm stuck on the time in the summer. The contest is at the end of the summer, but for a variety of reasons, this story has to take place in the beginning of the summer. It's in South Carolina so it's still hot, but... I keep thinking I'm breaking the rules somehow. Damn me and my goody two-shoes ways.

Mine are swimming nude. I can't help but think I'm in the wrong contest.

I like your word.

Dark, it's at 18,000 words with no end in sight just yet. But, that does make sense. It's less what I want to write and more what I need to write. ;) :rose:

Tatyana: Your new avatar=meow! :catroar: I haven't even looked to see if you and PennLady have stopped with the scrumptious baking pics, yet.

I'm glad you like my word. Makes it worthwhile, lol.
I'm just not sure this story is going to be okay for the contest... Bleh.
Hmm, nothing wrong with naked! :p

That's the problem, this is a total different story! LOL. I told you I can't stay on task. Hehe.

That's just because you have so many ideas floating in that naughty little head of yours. Is that so bad? ;) I get it though. I'm the same way. At some point you'll have to write the one you told me about it. Have you abandoned the past for now too? It'll come (it better LOL). I've seen you pound a story out just shy of deadline. I'm getting sidetracked a little myself.

I don't think it's any more difficult to write for a contest than it is just to write.

Some of the themes are more troublesome than others. I have difficulty with Nude Day. Several people are saying that they're having trouble pinning down the current theme of Summer.

It's all a matter of whether the theme inspires you.
