The Authors' Hangout National Nude Day Support Thread

On this, the historic last day of voting for the Nude Day Contest...down to the wire...this one's for all the cookies!...

I've been shampooing my carpets :D

I just want to let everyone know that it has been an absolute pleasure and honor to participate in this contest with you. It's been fun and I have really enjoyed getting to know some of you better. Your stories made me laugh and/or turned me on. Over the course of this very thread, I felt like I became part of the AH. Good luck to all the entrants and I can't wait for the Summer Lovin' thread. See ya there!

It's been a lot of fun, and it was good to see a couple of audio entries. Hopefully we get some of the other audio contributors into the next contest as well.

Woohoo on the carpet shampooer, I was doing yard work at 110!

That would be great!

Here in Oregon, it's not common to have central air. But you can't live without it in Mississippi. I just talked to my mom in MS and I was telling her I was sweating my boobies off shampooing the carpets. She asked how hot it was, so I went to weather.com and I told her 84 degrees. She laughed at me. Their heat index has been as high as 110 for the past two weeks and that's with almost 100% humidity. I have got to move her to Oregon.

109 and 13%, that may not sound like a lot of humidity, but you can feel every bit of it right now.

I have found that whenever there's a "1" as the first digit of the temperature, it's going to be uncomfortable, no matter what other numbers are involved.

Best wishes and decreased humidity to all my fellow Nude Day writers. Stay naked.

Today, I drove from home, where the temperature was over 100 to Half Moon Bay, where the wind blew off the Pacific Ocean and it felt like it was about 40. Maybe I should have stopped in the middle between those two places.

Thanks to everyone for making this such an incredible first contest for me.

I told a dear friend tonight how my original plan was to use Lit as a writer's bootcamp to recut my fiction teeth after so many years of pure journalistic writing. And while I am getting happy with my fiction teeth again they pale in comparison to the wonderful new friends I have made here.

This was to be a summer of "get in; write a ton, read/digest feedback; then get out and back to "real" life adding a bigger dimension of fiction to my jobs," but you have become a big part of my real life, so sorry people but you are stuck with me now!

Thank you so much for the good times, laughs and incredible camaraderie/friendship. I look forward to a lifetime of more!

I wouild like to thank everyone who wrote, read, voted, commented, and generally made this a great contest. I've had a blast!

ETA: And thanks to Laurel and Manu for giving us the oppurtunity to have this and other contests.

Good luck with that. Nine years ago I thought I'd write a couple of stories to get it out of my system and to brush off the rust. It's addicting out here...

Fiction teeth, huh?

My dentist always used to tell me, "Be true to your teeth and they will never be false to you."

Grand_High_Poobah, AKA Gabrielle L. is only Scouries in his blowup Rubber Doll suit.

Since there is nothing called the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS (A.I.R.) associated with or from Lit, except in scouries head, it can't sanction anything but the usual hot air..

I would be but I'm at work and I hate for people to laugh and point.

At work on a Sunday. Ought to be a crime. Sorry you have to work today.

As for laughing and pointing...c'mon! You just don't want the ladies to be tempted to squeeze your cheeks! :D

I work in the oil fields so it's a 12 hour a day, 7 day a week job. As for the ladies, the only one out here is my daughter and.... enough said. :D

You all might want to have your ignore function handy, cuz shit's gonna fly with a certain someone once he sees this.

In any case, congrats to the winners and to ALL who participated in the contest. The stories I read were creative and interesting, I only wish I would've had time to (read) vote and comment on more of them before the contest ended.

Congratulations!

Congrats from me, too. I only managed one late entry this year, but at least I entered!

Alex
