That Pipeline

I am not sure if I am fimiliar with the Key Stone Pipeline.. I know alaska has a pipeline.. and environmentalist tried their hardest to say it was endangering animals etc.. when in fact the animals and bird life around the pipe line are thriving.. under the pipeline birds and other animals use as a nesting area.. Environmentalist needs something to bitch about.. but Green Peace bring their ship to our town ( runs on fuel too).. preach and speak out against.. fishing, logging, mining..etc.. but what do they do when they leave.. they release the waste in their tank in area's that are to close to shore and cities.. hmm seems to me if they really cared.. they wouldn't have been so careless.. and what do they wipe their asses with "leaves"? how about their cars.. I mean do they really need them.. they can just walk or ride a bike.. and do they have computers, tv's etc? because all of that can be a danger to the environment.. I will shut up now.. but I really can not stand environmentalist.

I really think the U.S.A should depend less on Foreign Oil and utilize more local oil.. I also think its time for Congress to okay the drilling in Anwar? The environmentalist have everyone fooled about its risk.. google and look at where it is they actually want to drill.. and how remote it is.. and not heavily populated by much..

I think its very telling that many local officials have urged the president to wait and review the pipeline.

"TransCanada's Keystone I pipeline has spilled a dozen times in less than a year of operation, prompting a corrective action order from the Department of Transportation. Experts warn that the more acidic and corrosive consistency of the type of tar sands oil being piped into the U.S. makes spills more likely, and have joined the EPA in calling on the State Department to conduct a thorough study of these risks. Yes I think POTUS is stalling ,partly because he wants to play both sides and offend no one during election season, but , lets me honest, its a smart move, TransCanada doesn't have the best record when it comes to spills, and the very 1st spill and people will be gathering pitchforks and saying Obama botched the project.

Hi again, T. Boone. Okay, we had a lot of fun along the way a few years ago on this pickensplan website. I tried my best to interest you in a new wind turbine I had designed. Well, as Gomer Pyle used to say, Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! I finally got my patent in the mail a few days ago. It took about four years, altogether. I came back to this site and to your page to let you know about a break-through idea I have for converting my new VAWT into use as 24/7 mostly green power plants, backed up with nat gas. Here's the situation; I invented an enclosed wind turbine that can capture a full face of wind, instead of just 20%, like with the antiquated 3-prop variety now. Imagine this Boone: huge wind power plants using flywheels (vertical-axis) as power generating and storage plants, using nat gas for backup when needed. These wind turbines will be capable of producing electricity, and even hydrogen on water. The turbine will be capable of self-storing energy to be used later as prompts to keep them doggies movin' at about the right speed. My new invention also has wind control gates controlled by an outside anomometer, and another anomometer controls the turning. All digitally controlled with software to keep them doggies movin' properly. Okay, now it's time for you to git out of that bull-pen, T. Boone. Here's the deal. My newly patented turbine is sale for $2 million dollars...quite cheap when one considers the impact it can soon make on the renewable energy scene. US Patent #8,063,502, issue date 11/22/11, with new and improved embodiments. Look it up please. That 2nd entry funnel/tube has been streamlined. A land use turning device has been designed. My new VAWT can be the center-piece of new green power plants in good wind zones. These are all-green power plants, except for back-up from natural gas. If thousands of these power plants are scattered about in the good wind zones, natural gas can be used extensively. This is a new way of generating power, mostly green, 24/7, with the use of heavy flywheels. Have your engineers look into this. Have your lawyers look into it. This is your golden-years opportunity to get involved with wind again, but in a bigger, better way, with nat gas added in. The people will love it. They will love you. They will say, What took so long? You will look at me and say, Ask Whiskerbobstein. Then I'll say...well, I crawled a while.

Haven't read all of this so apologies if it's been mentioned.

Politics as usual. State says doesn't want pipeline over certain wetlands, company says fine we'll find a different route but hasn't yet, congress tightens the deadline forcing a 'no' and we get to call Obama a job killer.

My guess is that if he'd have given the go ahead Republicans would have raked him over the coals for ignoring state wishes.

Remember, they're the ones who hammered Obama for being a socialist and Romney for being a capitalist.

Then they need to know how to build it stronger. I don't think the one here has had many spill if any.

Obama just saved the country several hundred million in legal battles and still gave TransCanada the opportunity to re-apply (which they said they would). The ignorance of the right-wing is truely astounding.

Right. They apparently see the present situation only as a potential election issue.

We prefer to call it "Oil Sands" tar, is so yesterday:rolleyes:

He should get together with the executives of the company that's planning on building
the pipeline then.

since they said they are already planning the new route, and it should be ready for review in "a few weeks"

Problem is...now the greenies have Obama in their pockets...if he wins he will have a tough time approving it...not saying it won't get approved but.......

I honestly think it will pass and be built the only real question is when.
IF he caved to republican pressure now

1) He wouldn't get credit for the pipeline or whatever good comes of it because the GOP would take the credit, saying they forced him into it
2) He would look like a wimp for caving to the GOP
3) If any sort of spill happened, it would pretty much tank his reelection, the GOP would say he botched the management of the project and the average American will say he put politics above their safety.

So the company will submit a new route, which will stay in review long enough to ensure that the pipeline will be in construction during election season and wont open till long after all the votes have been tallied.

Then he can say he stood firm on GOP pressure, did what was best for the environment and the American people, and still managed to build the route and create the jobs everyone wanted.
Perfect for the campaign trail.

Canada Pledges to Sell Oil to Asia After Obama Keystone Permit Denial
By Theophilos Argitis and Jeremy Van Loon
January 19, 2012

“Canada will continue to work to diversify its energy exports,” according to details provided by [Prime Minister Stephen] Harper’s office. Canadian Natural Resource Minister Joe Oliver said relying less on the U.S. would help strengthen the country’s “financial security.”

The “decision by the Obama administration underlines the importance of diversifying and expanding our markets, including the growing Asian market.”

“We have to have processes in Canada that come to a decision in a reasonable amount of time, and processes that cannot be hijacked,” Harper said...

The Keystone decision is the latest of several U.S. moves that have irked Canadian policy makers. Canada objected to “Buy American” provisions in the Obama administration’s $447 billion jobs bill that was blocked by Republicans in Congress, as well as the restoration of a $5.50 fee on Canadian travelers arriving in the U.S. by plane or ship.

Approval of Keystone is a “no-brainer,” Harper said.
