Tattoos

I am thinking about getting a tattoo very soon and have been researching and discussing locations with friends. I would be interested in others thoughts on good areas of the body for adorning with tattoos that can be seen (by me) and by others when I choose to show them off but can also be hidden for work and other appropriate times.

Go get one if that makes you happy.

Oh, never mind. Others made your mind up for you.

You're just being stubborn. You know better.

In a way but I'm also not. I dislike all tattoos. I think they're ugly and for the most part, stupid. I can understand why someone would want one but not why they'd actually get it.
And there is no defense whatsoever for Chinese symbols, yin/yang, anything even remotely topical or in a spot where the person who has the tattoo can't see it.

I think they're trashy, gross and ugly. If I were single a tattoo would be a deal breaker.

Mine is where no one else can see it. That's because I did it just for me, and after 10 years of consideration.

Please. I got one that wants one now and is pissed that I won't let her have it and swears she's gonna get one for her 18th b-day.
I already told her she'd be white trash if she did it. She's ok with that. I also told her that I don't send checks to white trash college students. She said that's ok because dad will.

And she says...MoM...look at the trailer we live in...think about it:rolleyes:

Especially the chapter about the unclassifiable group with exotic pets and excellent wine.

You're an idiot.

My old man had tattoos I thought were pretty trashy...a Texas longhorn, a heart with MOTHER across it, USMC (its ok)

deal breaker

My nephew was in the reserves and went out with his buddies and got drunk and ended up with a tat.

He is 5' tall and a hundred lbs and has a naked woman 18" high on his back...his mom was real impressed:rolleyes:

Is the naked woman his mom?

Your nephew is an idiot. The ink has nothing to do with that.

She had a biker boyfriend when she was 15.

Her mom was still not impressed two decades later.

It sounds like, that kid should give up on getting mom's approval, if she hasn't already. That ain't coming anytime soon.

My little brother got shit faced and walked into a tattoo parlor in Okinawa and woke up the next day with a giant Pink Panther from ankle to mid thigh pointing to his balls. As he aged he was more and more self conscience about putting on a pair of shorts, tough for an avid surfer.

This you gotta discuss with Islandman...I'm not saying anything

Two lessons:

1) His brother, like your nephew, is an idiot;

2) People who get drunk and get idiotic tattoos, this has more to do with the individual and the alcohol than it does the ink.

And don't listen to the grandfathers here who are all concerned. Tattoos were very different for their generation than they are for subsequent ones. I love my tat, and have zero regrets. My wife has one, too, and we both can move just fine through a snooty, tea-party, tux atmosphere at need with no trouble at all. The notion that a tattoo says something about class is horseshit.
those are crap threads. this is a much better one...

I've known more than a few Marines who regretted their tattoos later in life, especially when they start running together and turn into a smudge, or represent states of mind they are no longer proud of.

the reason tattoos turn green and 'run' is because of sun damage.
golden rule - cover your tatts with the highest spf sunscreen you can find every single day, summer and winter, for the rest of your life.
clear zinc is good.

tattoos makes you look like a whore and a douche, but i guess if you're already one to start with then i guess you can't out do yourself?
