sympathy for my left-hand little finger

Glad to hear that you and your little finger are still on speaking terms and you can focus on the healing now. What a nightmare to have to wait 37 hours first though.

Damn!!!

Hospitals suck major ass.

But, at least it's over and done with! :)

Get better real soon! :rose:

Hokay, everbodee,
Stella is home now but very groggy from the painkillers. Her finger is repaired but bandaged to Hell and back so she is essentially one-handed. She'll be back but it will take time.

Phew!

I'm awake-ish at last, and typing one-handed.

thirtyseven hours without food or drink, attached to an iv! I was waiting for a lull in the really bad emergencies, of course, and of course they never stop coming! A surgeon came by to offer me a gamble: I could eat dinner and hope that the hand team has space tomorrow afternoon(today, that would have been) or keep fasting, just in case. He said he'd keep operating till 3:00 in the morning. So, I took the bet, and got lucky.

I went into surgery around 12:30 last night and woke up at 2:00 am...The next thing I knew was a breakfast that I couldn't chew, and a truly insignificant cup of coffee. Morphine, yuck...

Now I have a gigantic club on the end of my left arm, and I'm typing one-handed...

I started this post about four hours ago!

:rose:

Heal up quick, the AH isn't the same without your flirty, cut-the-bullshit self. :rose:

Glad to hear you were on the mend before I ever heard about the accident in the first place. Hopefully it will continue to heal quickly, though I'm sure it hasn't felt that way. :rose:

Stelllaaaaa!

You're back from the repair shop! :rose:

Good to see ya. Glad everything went well.

Try taping a stylus to your 'club' and type with that.

Heal quick now, y'hear.

*sniffle* I'll soak up all the sympathy I can get...

The surgeons totally immobilised my ENTIRE left hand, I don't know why. And the cast weighs a ton, and it's hot and muggy, and I can feel the gauze is soaked with sweat... AND it seems to be plaster, and I know I'll break it. That's why you want to go in before midnight, IMO-- even the best surgeons make odd decisions around the end of their shift...

I will attempt to bear this load till the 21st, when I go back for a checkup. Only a week, right?

I'm totally in love with the hospital, County General, AKA Queen of Angels. Being there re-fired my thoughts about nursing school. But typing my adventures is a slow process.

I just discovered that I can't cut steak for myself.

It'll get better. *Hugs*

friend of mine did something similar and they imbolised his whole hand too. Looking at the bandage work, he looked like they'd had to sew his hand back on! Guess it's so there's no chance of moving the damaged digit even by accident.

Glad you're back with us, even at half pace and needing your food cut up for you.

When do we get to sign the cast? I wanna draw some boobies.

That's exactly what it looks like! And I work in a retirement home, mornings. My boss is walking slow, with a cane, and hanging onto my arm, and I'm in this cast... We look quite the pair!

Maybe some liquid oatmeal through a straw . . . ?
Oh, right-- much better than steak uh-huh

Of Course you do!:D

That sounds nerve-wracking, waiting that many hours for surgery! god.

I'm glad you're home, and I hope your healing is quick and complete.

slave driver!
At least, I finished a bingo story last night.

I noticed. In fact, I'm looking forward to reading it, after the plumber gets here and then departs. Then there's the packing, continued work in the woodshop, etc. I can't help but wonder if I'd live longer if I wasn't so hyperkenetic.

Anyway, feet up and heal, Stella. If you want to work on Awakening tonight, maybe we ought to do it by phone. You dictate, I'll type?
