It’s weird that there’s no discussion of what happened in the elections today.

It’s late so I’m not going to try to dig up news sources, but the general impression I’m getting is that it’s been a much better night for Biden than Trump.

Biden is winning the Democratic primaries by getting about 90% of the vote.

Trump is winning too, but with much smaller majorities, like 60%.

That disparity suggests that while the Democrats are unified behind Biden, the Republican Party is divided about Trump.

If they won’t support him now, it’s doubtful they’ll support him this fall.

It would be interesting if the never Drumpf vote is truly represented by Haley voters. A lot of those interviewed in exit polls were pretty vehement in their opposition to Drumpf ever being president again.

That would be a sizable defection from the "republican" party’s nominee in the general election.

If a decent number of Haley voters defect to President Biden in the general election, then things look pretty good for him being re-elected.

I’m cautiously optimistic.

👍

Side note:

Drumpf LIED nonstop in the Super Tuesday victory speech.

The fact checkers are eviscerating that speech.

Hey. I made the alt accusation list.
Not an alt. Just enjoy reading opinions from both sides of the political isle. By the time I finish catching up on posts I normally don’t feel like i have anything worth while to say.
I’m very disappointed in what both sides are offering this election year.
No offense intended to anyone here.

Yeah, that gas was so cheap during the pandemic…let’s get back to incompetent mismanagement so gas prices will go back down.

Sounds like a solid argument.

Gas was 1.85 pre plandemic. Hopefully with the rise in young adult heart attacks the demand will drop again!

There are a couple of things that you can point to to say just the opposite.

Curb your optimism. By November, they'll be over it and holding their noses to vote against Biden, especially knowing that the odds are very good that he doesn't last another full term and Kamala is salivating in the wings ready for her historical moment (and not much else, especially the duties and gravitas of the office).

History shows the winner will b the incumbent if the stock market is up 3 months into the election

Further. The factbthere was no recession 2 yrs before the vote assures the incumbent wins

Nothing else matters

Kamala Harris is more qualified for the Presidency than Donald Trump was when he ran in 2016. If she has to take over for Biden she’ll do fine.

Joe had no competition because he's competent and the party is honestly behind him. That one guy (whatever his name was) may have been jockeying for a place in '28.

The Orangutan had multiple competitors because he's a jackass that has split the party into multiple warring factions that can't agree on anything other than to disrupt each other. Will they come together in November? Or will the more responsible adults in the splintered GQP vote Joe? Or not vote at all?

Did Joe Biden lose somewhere?
Out of the 91 ballots cast in the American Samoa primary, Palmer, a Maryland resident, won 51 versus 40 for Biden. Only six delegates were at stake, with Palmer taking four, and Biden two.

American Samoa is a small U.S. territory in the South Pacific with an estimated 2023 population of 44,620, according to the CIA's world fact book.

Campaign finance records show Palmer loaned his presidential campaign over $500,000 of his own money.

According to the Associated Press, during an interview late on Tuesday he said: "I found out that I had won because my phone started blowing up with friends and campaign staffers texting me."

The last sitting president to lose a primary was Jimmy Carter in 1980, who lost 12 contests to Democratic rival Ted Kennedy. Carter did win the Democratic primary overall and went on to suffer a crushing defeat against Republican Ronald Reagan in the presidential election.

Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg won the 2020 Democratic primary race in American Samoa, his only victory during the contest.

That is greatly insignificant overall, but may say something about influence in the South Pacific where China is making strides to take over territory.
