I have to make something today for my mothers Christmas dinner, but I don't know what I'm going to make.

I'd thought about sweet potato pie but I'm out of milk and the nearest store is 25 minutes away. It's raining, my son is coughing and I don't want to drag him out anymore than I have to and I haven't smoked in over a day -perfect time to quit eh?- and if I go I'll buy cigarrettes. lol

So any suggestions for an easy sidedish that doesn't require milk? :D

I have jello but no mold thingy. (I'm so technical) lol

I really should have gotten more groceries this week.

Thank you though. :)

You could just put it in a pretty glass bowl. Sorry your son is sick, Merry Christmas kitty :)

How's this?..

Luchow's German Potato Salad

1 pound (3 medium) potatoes
6 slices bacon, diced
1 medium-size onion, diced
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup stock or bouillon
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. sugar
1 egg yolk, beaten

Scrub potatoes; rinse. Boil in jackets; let cool. Peel and cut in
1/4-inch slices. Cook bacon in hot pan until crisp. Add onion; stir
and cook until transparent. Add vinegar, stock or bouillon, and
seasonings. Stir; let come to a boil. Stir in egg; remove from heat
and pour over potatoes. Serves 2-4.

Since you've got sweet potatoes, how about glazed sweet potatoes. (look in your cookbook under glazed yams.)

If you've got Mushroom Soup, potatoes, and cheese, a variation on "Potatoes Au Gratin" are pretty easy.

Sumpin' easy.......

Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits

Dough:

1 1/4 lbs. Bisquik
3 Oz. freshly shredded cheddar cheese
11 Oz. cold water

Garlic Spread:

1/2 cup melted butter
1 teas. garlic powder
1/4 teas. salt
1/8 teas. onion powder
1/8 teas. dried parsley

To cold water, add Bisquik and cheese, blending in a mixing bowl.
Mix until dough is firm.

Using a small scoop, place the dough on a baking pan lined with
baking paper. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until
golden brown. While biscuits bake, combine spread ingredients.

Brush baked biscuits with the garlic topping. :D :rose:

Penguin on a stick.......

Er...um...serves 4-6 people? LOL

Gummi Bears

1 small box Jello with sugar (any flavor)
7 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup water

Mix in a saucepan until the mixture resembles playdough.
Place pan over low heat and stir until melted.
Once completely melted, pour into plastic candy molds,
and place in the freezer for 5 min.
When very firm, take out of molds and eat! Have fun

I'd thought about glazed yams... I've never done them before but I'm willing to give them a try.

Thank you Harold, Merry Christmas

Got Jello?

Make a mold with some fruit in it.

Hey, the very first answer on the thread is the one I was going to give! It's the easies thing in the world to make. Tupperware mold is great- almost impossible to screw it up.

I can just add some whipped cream and sprinkle some nuts on you and top you off with a cherry.

:D

...sounds good to me...do you think your mother and her guests would enjoy me?

My mother I'm sure would.
