Submitted stories week ago, still not posted!

Is this normal? I submitted stories one week ago and none of them have appeared in the NEW stories category. When I check on them in my Author's page it says they're "NOT approved yet"

Maybe we tell the lad, that the editors are volunteers. They have a daily schedule that involves getting paid doing something else.
