Noticed that the number of readers who have voted ratings on a couple of my stories....has DECREASED. How does that happen? Is there some way to 'take back' a rating one has left on a story?
Update: Came across this, in a post by Rob_Royale
"Yes. Every once in a while, there is a sweep, that deletes 1-votes if they seem an anomaly to the rest of the voting. It's happened to me a couple of times."
If true-and the evidence from the ratings removed from my stories would indicate that was the reason-then as far as I'm concerned it is a VERY good thing. GJ, Literotica. You are doing a better job of policing against gratuitous downvoting than I expected. Keep it up.
2nd update. Of course, some of us might think the logical next step would be to instigate some sort of sanctions against people who engage in this behavior. Something like, say, a temporary suspension of the right to post ratings on any story, and including some sort of appeal process so that people who are purposely posting low ratings on demonstrably bad stories are not caught in the net. There are, I'm sure, stories here which, if I forced myself to read them, I might think deserved it. One of the purposes of a rating system is to make those who need to improve aware of it, after all.
I wonder, if Lit thinks someone is doing this, perhaps it would be appropriate to remove ALL of the ratings those people have posted, for being, at best, of suspect motive.
Or maybe I'm just really pissed at the troll\s and want some payback.
3rd update [!]
So today I notice STILL MORE ratings have been removed from a couple of my stories, apparently low ones again, because removing them improved the rating substantially. Woohoo!
