My cats are all mildly psychotic, I'd decided. Gretta (my feline) snorts when she's cleaning her paws, and drags herself around the bottom of the couch on her side every time I turn on the Beastie Boys. She also has an annoying habit of wanting her own pillow when it's bedtime. She'll meow and play all night in my room if I don't give her her own pillow! When she jumps up onto the counters or furniture, she always hesitates first, atleast two or three times, THEN she goes for it. She licks my ears when I hold her, and she only likes to be on the left shoulder, not the right one. When she wants me to come to bed, she lays on her back with her paws in the air at my feet until I get up. Sometimes when I'm reading she'll sit on the back of the couch behind me and rest her head on my shoulder, as if she could read, too! When I take her to the vet, her ears turn pink from stress, and she growls at the vet (and she's usually such a nice beastie!).

So what weird things do your pet(s) do?

I don't have any pets. My best friend has a cat who likes to sit on the back of the recliner and pet your head when you sit in that particular chair. It's rather soothing. :)

It sounds like your cat is mildly neurotic at worst, not psychotic. The latter would be my ex's cats which vomit all over the place, won't come out of her bedroom and sometimes bite.

My pets? The closest thing I have to a pet is a stuffed Dogbert doll and he mostly just sits there - although he sometimes talks to me.;)

Both my cats love open bags and if anybody brings a bag into the house they must sit in it or at least poke a nose in their.....the same goes for box's and they fight over who's gonna sleep on top over my PC.

Both love to chase lights and I've bought a lazer pointer just for them to chase, they will not eat the same food two days in a row and will not drink water thats fresh it "has" to stand for a couple of days or better still if they can find a puddle to drink out of they love it ???

One (Boris) loves to lay across my feet while I'm online and his mother Cleo loves to sit on me when I'm on the phone...oh and Boris loves thunderstorms...he isn't even slightly scared of them !

Cats are nuts.

Max responds to baby talk by rolling over on his back and covering his face with his paws. Grendle will "talk" back to me if I tell him no. He also likes to sleep on wet towels.

Spider, however, is the real lunatic. He will sit in front of the refridgerator and beg for ice. Given the opportunity to raid the dinner table, he prefers mashed potatoes over meat. If he cannot find me, he will walk through the house calling (just like a kitten looking for its mother) until I answer him. He isn't afraid of the hairdryer and infact, will let me use it on him. He isn't afraid of the vacuum either, as long as I am the one using it.

If I forget to place the keyboard on its side when I'm not using it, Caspian will wait till I'm watching TV and stand on it until he gets it to make an internet connection. And he gets the keys to make a honking sound. He'll stand there and stare at me till I get up. When I get about 3 feet away, he'll jump off and run to claw his scratching post.

my cats called misty so thats already alittle strange considoring myst started this thread :)

shes very small the runt of the litter i think but she has the loudest meow ive ever heard in a cat she can wake up the whole house if she cares too ... also she only ever sits on my lap nobody elses ... i think i must stink or something :)

My Cat ......

played fetch
walked on a leash
was a great watch cat (woke me up and ran to the window and growled when the house next door was broken into)
I think she thought she was a dog.

About 6 years ago I had a cat who I named Spot for the sake of being different. She used to play with my huge dog and even slept with him. Her tricks I think she learned from him. She would chase after a small ball if you rolled it across the floor and bring it back to you expecting you to throw it again. And she had this thing between a meow and a bark, it was so cute! I had to eventually put her to sleep because a car hit her and she couldn't walk anymore (broken lower back and one leg) I miss her terribly.

Cassandra (Cass for short) is a black long haired cat.. 6 years old.. she was the runt of the litter and very ill.. so momma did what mommas are supposed to do.. she kept moving her to another place in the house, i'd put her back (not knowing she was ill and momma was taking her some where else to die), and momma would move her further away. needless to say, i took her to the vet, got her some meds and got her on the road to good health. momma cat, Trouble ( name fits well) wouldn't take her back. so i became her momma.. i fed her, took her everywhere. she was my baby.. by the time she was a year old, she would steal cigs from the ash tray (preferred lit ones over the butts), chase and fetch any piece of paper, walked on a leash, sits up, shakes hands, plays dead (yes, she is a cat NOT a dog). She should be in show business..

Princess (an 11 year old short haired white beast) is neurotic, even the vet says so. if she needs the service of a vet, he comes to her. Her name is fitting.. gets what she wants when she wants it, and is very spoiled.

I have a deaf cat, with no claws, and two different colored eyes. We saved her from the pound. White Piece of Fluff will stand in the kitchen and meow at the top of her lungs 'till I go in and pick her up. She knows if she makes enough noise I will pick her up and let her sit on my lap....she just can't jump up on my lap.. she has to make me work for it.

I had a cat that loved corn on the cob. He would not eat canned, it had to be corn on the cob. He would try to get up on the stove and paw it while it boiled. So I had to hold him the whole time, while he could watch it cook. We would run it under cold water and hold him until we could slice it off with a knife and then he would devour it. I have never heard of a another cat that liked corn on the cob.
I have also heard that some white cats are deaf. Usually those with eyes other than yellow, although my father has a white cat with blue eyes that is not deaf.

Zoe my cat is so odd, she actually likes the water. We have a pool out back and she always jumps in and swims around for hours and if someone is in the shower and leaves the bathroom door open she tries to jump in with you.

I love cats but I'm not in a relationship with one now.
Thanks for the stories.

My cat has to sleep on a pillow above my head at night. She likes to rest her chin on the top of my head. She wakes me up by 5:30am every morning, usually by licking my nose or my ear. I go to work at 6am, so that is only a problem on my days off. She loves to sit on my lap & watch & tries to hit the cards on the screen when I play solitaire. She sleeps in my doll room, surrounded by toys while I am at work. She will only eat for me, my fiancee & my mom, so when I am gone, my mother comes over to keep her company. I have never had a cat that was so dependent on people, my ex says that she thinks she is a dog.

I have a three legged, one eyed, epileptic cat that was hit by three cars in one day...I call him "lucky"

my cat has had too much nip and will chase the dog aroung the house attacking her. the cat weighs 10# the dog 100. i am considering counseling for both:p

I had a blind cat when I was a teenager. My family lived out in the country, and I would go walking in the woods, and our many barn cats would follow after, including the blind one. Inevitably, he would plunge into a clump of grass or something, get disoriented and lost, and yowl pathetically until I found him, fished him out, and carried him home.

The other cats picked up on this. There was one who would get tired of walking, so he'd leap into a clump of grass and start yowling pathetically because, hey, it got the blind guy carried.

I had another cat who, if you sang to her, she'd put her front paws over your mouth. Everyone's a critic.

The two I have now are no saner than the rest. The calico is talkative. So much so that if you say something around her while she's snoozing, she'll meow in her sleep.

The orange guy can open doors. He leans against the door and swipes the knob with his paw until it clicks, then his weight pushes the door open. Thankfully he can't open doors that open inward, so he doesn't get to escape the apartment. He also gets into cabinets. He's also the master of the tummy trap. He'll sprawl on his back, exposing the fuzzy tummy - a lure few can resist. But once the petting hand descends, it's all rabbit-kicking and chewing. He also goes apeshit over my hair-ties. I've seen him sneak into the bathroom and forage around the container I keep them in, and one he's got one, he tosses it around, catches it, flings it across the room with a whip of his head, then chases after. Kitty bliss. He loves them.

Laser pointers are fun, too. :)

Pete

Pete, my long haired tiger Tom, likes to use the keyboard. If you guys ever see a message posted that looks something like:

hgqqiuhvhg

Please don't think I have lost it. Pete is talking to you. He will sit on your lap and punch keys. He really likes to do it just as your getting ready to send your email off. Or post a message.

my babies

I have two: Meeco and Lestat.

Mecco has obsessive compulsive disorder. She has sore marks on her tummy from washing it too much, and she fetches plastic soda bottle caps. They have to be blue or red though, she hates the white ones. If she has no food, she will knock things over, even paintings off of out walls. She has also learned how to open the bathroom door and climbs the doorfraims when she's mad.

Lestat is Mentally retarded. We found her in a basement with 50 other cats, and she is the result of inbreding. She is scared of everyone but my parents, myself, and my boyfriend. She's all black and double pawed who eats with her hands (her paws do look like hands, and that extra paw she uses like an aposable thumb).

Both of them play a game of chase that my mom fondly calls the kitty olimpics. We call them the lickersons because they love to clean eachother.

My grandfather's cat is a kleptomaniac. If you leave your purse open, or a shopping bag or box with small objects, she will carry them off to hide them under her water bowl. We have found keys, pens, rubber bands, bracelets, and rabbit's feet under there. Also, she hates it when you wear glasses. Sunglasses or regular glasses, it doesn't matter. She'll bat them off your face if you wear them around her.

My former kitty, Alpha, used to think he was a human. He'd wait until my fiance left for work, then he'd come in the bedroom with me. Literally, he'd back his rear end under the cover, so that his bottom half was covered, and he'd rest his head on Trav's pillow and go to sleep. He also used to ADORE strawberry ice cream.

My current outdoor kitty, Raistlin, loves to play with the neighborhood dogs. He also loves it when he can get the table scraps of Italian food. I swear, the cat loves spaghetti more than I do.

Aren't kitties just great? :D

Okay, more cat stories! I have 4 other cats in addition to Gretta, though they aren't nearly as fond of me.

Mouse should be renamed Jaba the Hut. She got her name because she's so shy and furtive and lived in a hole under the front porch until we could finally coax her out (which took about 3 months). She won't let anyone hold her, and when you open the door to let her in or out, you have to hold for a long time until she gets up the courage to RUN through. I think she was abused before she ran away and found us. She does this little "rug dance" where she rolls all over the rugs (we have wood floors), and rubs herself all over it until she's finally wrapped up in it. She'll also take a running start and lands on a rug, and both cat and rug end up sliding across the room at a dangerous speed! I always find about three rugs under my bed because she'll slide ride under it. Silly cat.... but she's gorgeous, and so VERY polite and sweet. She has the greenest eyes I've ever seen. When I sit down to dinner, she'll put her paw on my leg as she reaches up (because I'm a sucker and I give her little nibblettes). She loves bacon, but not much else.
