According to a CDC study, little over 2% of the population "only or mostly" have a sexual preference for the same sex. When you look at states which have recognized so-called same sex "marriage," far less than 2% of those getting "married" are same sex (when it was recognized in California, when I did the math on it, it turned out something like 0.5% of "marriages" during that time were same sex).

This isn't even a "rights" issue, since, practically speaking, NOBODY really even wants it. So, why is it such a HUGE obsession with the social liberals and the media? Obviously the first reason is that it means, in their view, the final total accpetance of homosexual conduct by society and well as giving them another means to bully and sue anyone who might express any moral opposition to homosexual behavior (although this might backfire on them since you could actually make more of a case against gay promiscuity since they can now wait until they're "married" to engage in gay sex, but I'll save that argument).

However, what its really about, to the values left, has little or nothing to do with homosexuality itself. Its an effort to make what's left of heterosexual marriage a complete joke, with a longterm goal to getting rid of it entirely. The reason for that? Feminist opposition to the heterosexual family structure as part of their wacko view of some imaginary "patriarchy" based on sex role differences, which occur most naturally in the confines of the heterosexual couple and family. Those misguided morons on Facebook with their "equal signs" are tools being used by the anti-family radicals to advance their agenda. Gays are just the latest vehicle being used to attack the family unit, but it will fail as with all previous attempts, going back to Lenin, to obliterate the family unit.

You really seem to have an intense dislike of homosexuality, bordering on phobic. Why is that?

if it's only a tiny number of people then what difference will it make to you, to society, to allow them to get married?
if you allow muslims, jews, hindus, jedi priests, druids, wiccans and athiests to wed then it can't be about maintaining christian values.
if you allow the severely disabled, the infertile and the elderly to wed, if unmarried people can raise kids, then it can't only be about raising children.

if there are no reasonable arguements for preventing people wedding, i don't get it. wy not just let them?

...don't gay couples deserve to be just as trapped and unhappy as everyone else?!

As long as they legalize polygamy I may want to marry 3 or 4 women it's just love who are you to judge

You can make the same argument for Nazis, there werent really that many of them.

According to them you'll be equally protected under the 14th. Your beighbor screwing his pooch will be happy too.:D

The Vettebigot is a regular talkin' point machine this morning!

"Gay marriage leads to polygamy!"
"Gay marriage leads to bestiality"

But let's turn thousands of years of history upside down to accommodate another crap world expediency.

I'm not sure what harm gay marriage will produce, but you don't seem worried about the thousands of years of history we have using weapons that weren't guns.

Since bigotry is moving into the holy arena of statistics - chew on this one:

in 1960 about 72% of adults over age 18 were married. In 2010 it was 51%.

You are killing your own institution off faster than gay marriage ever could.

Why? Because 40% of people over 18 believe marriage is obsolete, while 31% of married people believe the same thing.

If the numbers are so small it's not like they are going to harm your precious nuclear family so chill the hell out, Ruse.

Uh, no. Marriage has no utility until all the tax dollars are spent.

.5% of America is about 16 million people. Tell us again how 16 million Americans is nobody.

My marriage is not harmed in any way by the fact that gay people are getting married in America. Why is yours?

I'm just putting out the statistics, the same as the bigots are trying to do.

Other reasons for fewer marriages other than obsolescence may be present:

Inflation, recessions, college requires 8 years for a decent degree, home prices out of reach, parents unable to pay for weddings, few tax benefits for marriage, individual freedom is valued.

It certainly isn't 'creeping socialism' as Ruse and veggebigot would have you think. It is a trend toward co-habitation without wedlock.

Perhaps because the biblical idea of "A woman's duty is to her husband" was wounded in World War II and died horribly with the sexual revolution.

You weren't around for those thousands of years so what do you care about it.

For thousands of years people were under the rules of the Monarchy, then a bunch of them founded the US of A and changed things...all of a sudden you care about those thousands of years and are resistant to change?

As long as you don't have to marry a guy, wtf do you really care.

Really...how does it affect you

It has a lot to do with the overreach of feminism as well, not many men want to enter into an agreement that requires him to give up half of his earnings, his house, the best of both cars, and the custody of his children just to get rid of lousy wife.

How the fuck did you survive the KT extinction?
