Kelson nods and replies, "I know how dire it may possibly, that is why I asked for you to instruct them to send five men. If it is a trap, it wouldn't be very wise for us four to go, now would it?"
I considered his words, and the possibility of a trap, but that seemed to far-fetched. WHo would possibly try to trap four Jedi? Still, he had given me pause.
I nodded.
"Marius, tell Seargant Bal'Doah to take ten men and check out the crash sight," I instructed.
Marius nodded and headed away. A minute or so later, five transports took off into the distance carrying the ten men.
"Hopefully," I said. "No one was hurt."
"We shall soon see I am sure. Now it is time for us to get some sleep, however. Daelon, I want you to meditate over the nature of combat for an hour before going to sleep."
Ronag paused for a moment, before stepping inside. The air was a bit stale, and somehow, in here, the power of the force seemed to weaken on him. Almost as if he had fallen into a pocket of space, where the force didn't exist. That was impossible, the force was everywhere. Still, it wasn't entirely impossible for this place to somehow abhor jedi magic.
It had been seen elsewhere.
The old man seemed to have disappeared.
"Hello?" he called out.
"What is it you want, Jedi."
He paused, unsure how to continue. Whoever this person was, knew him to be jedi. Odd, considering his saber wasn't even out in the open.
"I just came for some supplies, some food, and a bit of repair for my ship."
"Want to destory the Sith, do you?"
Now something was definitely up. How could someone know of his plans?
"Who are you? I want to know...."
A small figure emerged from the darkness.
"Oh my god..."
(hee hee, to be continued)
Viser
He looked up, not at what he was expecting, a couple of jedi, but a small battalion of people. He cocked an eye, how many were out here?
"You, who are you?"
He put away his saber, "My name is Dar...."
He had almost given away his name. That would have been a horrible mistake.
"Dartum. Jedi Knight. I have come here because I heard rumors of another resistance forming. Is this not true?"
Another jedi knight. They seemed pleased with the idea, and let him join in their group.
"Come, back to base. We have good news for the others."
He smiled, this was going to be easier than he thought.
Daelon thought about what Kelson had asked him before dismissing it. Whatever Kelson was feeling, he wasn't showing it. But it just seemed somehow odd that after such an event he would ask Daelon to meditate on combat. Finally, he thought that whatever his master was planning, he knew more than Daelon did, and so he did as he was told without question. Marius had not yet returned when Daelon made his way back to the meditation area, where he returned to his pose and began to concentrate on the more - basic - of the Jedi attributes.
Kelson gave Raine a knowing look, then turned and followed silently after his apprentice...better to watch the young one meditate for a bit. It helped clear his mind.
As the small rebel outpost was finally revealed, he could hardly believe it. There were only fifty men or so in the entire outfit. Barely enough to stop an attack, especially with the lack of firepower they had.
This would be pitiful indeed, if only he could help with the attack.
He had orders though.
As soon as the transports touched the ground, the men called out to their new discovery (I don't want to give too much details about the fort, I'll leave that up to you guys).
"A jedi?"
"Another one, here? I told you there were more."
"We can do it now."
"Hush, hush," a man came forward, looking to be something of a leader, his heart sank though, it wasn't a jedi. They were close though, he could almost smell them.
"Please, give this man a room and some food. You are welcome to stay with us as long as you like. What is your name?"
"Jedi Dartum," someone piped up behind him. He nodded, agreeing with the man. Good thing, he was about to say Darnum. This name thing was going to be a bother, he could see that right now.
"Please to meet you, Dartum."
"I wish I could say the same, but I have some terrible news to depart. My crash was no accident. The imperial army was trying to stop me from coming here to warn you."
"Warn us?"
He paused, "Yes, the imperial..."
"Wait, I know of others who will want to hear this. Deero," a young boy ran towards him. The man whispered something in his ear, and he ran off.
"I apologize. Please, come with me. Then, you can tell your story."
Viser nodded, following the man.
Tynan dropped his ship out of hyperspace in the Mached system, and headed for the fifth planet.
Suddenly, a warning light went off in the cockpit. TIE fighters.
They opened fire on his ship, and he rolled hard to starboard. He came out of his roll, and armed his blasters. The TIE fighters, however, broke off their pursuit, and headed out of the system. Odd.
He continued onward toward the small planet, and entered the coordinates that his old master had given him. He wasn't sure if she'd still be here, or even if she still used this planet as a retreat. He'd soon find out.
He swerved low over the grren landscape, and flew over a crash site of some kind. His scanners picked up ion trails, and blaster burns in some of the trees. Not good.
He found an opening on the surface, and lowered his landing gear. He came in for a landing.
I was about to head inside when the man came running out to meet me.
"Raine," he began, "Where is Kelson?"
"Inside," I answered. "You just missed him."
"You and he are needed in the compound," he responded.
"Needed?"
"Yes," he replied. "A man was recovered from the wreckage, a Jedi who clims to have information that we might need."
I nodded.
"Where is this Jedi?"
"He's being taken to one of the conference rooms, Room 3 i believe."
"Good, tell Kelson I'll meet him there as soon as possible," I responded, heading toward the compound.
When i entered, I find myself in the lounging area, not useful for a Jedi, but several of the basic staffers were sitting around, resting from their day's work. I wandered through, nodding politely to one or two, then headed down the hall toward the conference area. WHen I entered Room 3, I saw a few men standing around, armed but relaxed, offguard, and a man I don't know. The Jedi, I guessed. Nearby, Sgt. Alamar stood. He nodded to me as I entered.
"Raine," he announced. "Meet Dartum, Jedi Knight. He comes to us witha message."
I offered the man my hand, unable to sense any hostility or negativity in the man.
"It is nice to make your acquaintance, Dartum," I said, trying to force a smile.
Tynan walked through the trees with the boy in tow. He expanded his senses to the surrounding area. After going about 40 meters from his ship, he stopped dead. The boy walked right into him.
"Come out," he called, raising his arms over his head. "I know your there. Four of you."
The boy tried to look everywhere at once, but could see nothing. The soldiers were pretty good. Well-trained. It would be a shame if they forced him to kill them.
A man stepped out from behind a tree 30 meters away. "Who are you?" the man asked.
"My name is Tynan. I'm here to see Raine DuVall. I'm an... old aquaintance."
The man stared at him for a minute, studying him. Tynan was about to compell him with the Force, when he spoke. "Very well, we'll take you to her. Just keep your hands where we can see them."
He turned around and started walking, and Tynan followed 20 meters behind. After he walked about 50 meters, three other guards stepped out from behind some trees, training there blasters on him. He could sense no imminent danger from them, however.
After abut 20 minutes, they came to a clearing. There was the compound up ahead. It was bigger than Tynan remembered.
The man who led turned toward him, and spoke to the other soldiers. "Take him to the detention center."
This was too much for Tynan to stand.
"I'll stay here," he said, reaching out with the Force.
The man shook his head slightly, as if he had a fly in his ear, but he didn't respond.
"I'll stay here," Tynan repeated, putting more power behind his words.
"I suppose you can stay here," the man responded. "Under guard." He turned and walked off toward the compound.
In spite of himself, Tynan was impressed. Beyond his skills with the blade, Force compulsion was one of his strongest talents. The man had resisted admirably. Well trained indeed.
The other three men kept their blaster rifles trained on him, and four more men came running over to help.
Tynan sat down, and crossed his legs, motioning for the boy to do the same. He had a feeling it would be a bit of a wait.
It was dark & cold, little Kerra is curled in a ball. She was tired, cold & afraid. Suddenly a warmth & light guide her from that dark place back to consciousness. She wakes up in her cabin. Sitting up from her bunk dislodging the damp towel on her forehead, she holds her head in pain. "Ow ~ damn it what hit me. How did I get here. Who is piloting ~ the Owl." Kerra stands up a little too quickly, & get dizzy but manages to stay vertial. Making her way out of her quarters she walks quickly as she can to the cockpit.
Kerra first sees Orin in the co-pilots seat lounging & then Mogo piloting the Owl. "Mogo, I have the course is set for us to drop out of hyperdrive in Hutt Space." Both men jump at the sound of her voice & start talking at once asking her how she is. "I am fine, just a bit tired & dizzy. Mogo, I need you get us to Nar Shaddaa & get the parts we need to replace. Then we take this Package, where it need to be delivered & by the way when does it need to be done by?" She listens to what Mogo has to say for a change. He & Orin make their feeling know about Tholin.
Knowing how the men felt, didn't make it any easier for what she had to say next. "Boys, you're not going to like the next thing I say ~" Her voice trails off as she give a long sigh. "Without Tholin being on the ship, the Owl would have been destroyed at the Mos Eisley." Both men looked at her. "One of the mercs had a custom thermal deonator that they where going to attach to the ship. I don't know the why, but it might be the cargo we are carrying. As Captain, I now own him a life debt. I'll be in his quarters for a moment then I am going back to rest."
OOC) Tynan...I have no idea where you decided to be...
IC)
Kelson nodded at sensing the man enter the room.
"Daelon, stand up, we have pressing business."
At the far side of the room, the man could be heard muttering about Jedi. He was an accomodating host, however, and quickly informed master and apprentice of the new comer...much to the master's disapproval.
Raine is going to get herself killed...her master never instilled the proper sense of caution I suppose.
Kelson smiled at the man and nodded quickly at the message, commanding him to "lead the way".
Daelon stood up as Kelson ordered, turning to face the messenger as he gave them his message. Another Jedi? Daelon wondered. Wouldn't he have contacted them earlier if he was coming? Maybe it's an emergency?
Making sure his lightsaber was safely attached to his belt, Daelon strode up to his master's side as the messenger turned and began to escort them to the compound.
Daelon leaned over to whisper to Kelson. "Another Jedi, master? Is this true? And where is Marius? Last time I saw him he was going to get some people to check out the crash..."
Using the force to bring her saber to her hand, then picks up her jacket & slids it on, Kerra makes her way slowly back down the corridor to Tholin's quarters. Weakly knocking on the door, she gets no answer. "Master Tholin?!" She knocks once more but still no resonse. Leaning against the wall, she relaxes & then uses the force to search. All that she sense is a swirl of darkness thick like pea soup.
*I hope this works.* She steadies her emotions & calls out quietly with the force. "Master Tholin, I am sorry to disturb you but we need to talk." Kerra slumps against a bulkhead as the effort to do that takes a toll on her energy reservses. She places her saber in a inner pocket of her jacket & waits for his response.
When the man arrives, he lowers his head in a show of respect for both myself and the newcomer, Dartum.
"Apologies for interrrupting, Raine, but it seems you have yet another visitor," he stated.
"Who is this visitor?"
I had thought I noticed a change, a sway in the force more than a shift. A minor difference, but noticeable.
"He says his name is Tynan," the man replied.
Tynan.
I should have guessed he was still around, somewhere.
I thought for a moment, trying not to let my past experience with the man show. His appearance could be for many reasons, but I sensed good intentions this time, and...something else.
I could have let the Srg. handle this one, but I felt it needed more care.
"Send Marius," I said. "I believe he is in his quarters. Tell him to proceed with caution, but not aggression."
He nodded, and exited.
Kerra's voice startled the shit out of me...
"Kerra," I began, rambling right along side Orin's rambles of is she okay and how is she feeling and would she like to sit. Orin and I exchanged glances, as if to both scold one another for talking over each other, and apologize in the same instant.
"I am fine, just a bit tired & dizzy. Mogo, I need you get us to Nar Shaddaa & get the parts we need to replace. Then we take this Package, where it need to be delivered & by the way when does it need to be done by?"
I looked to Orin, then to Kerra again.
"I can get us to Nar Shaddaa," I responded. "No problem. Just make sure you're in good condition when we get there. Hutt space is nowhere for us to go in half loaded, y'know. Especially with this character you've got stored away in the visitor's quarters. What's the deal with him, anyway? What is he? An old boyfriend, or something? I've dealt with odd characters, Kerra, but this guy's got some serious bolts loose upstairs...And he damn near ruined one of the blaster cells. It'll take me two hours or more to charge the damn thing again, if it'll charge at all after his little Black Magic trick he pulled. We need to find a close rock to drop him off on," I spat.
Orin went on for a while, sharing his thoughts as well, before Kerra could respond.
"Boys, you're not going to like the next thing I say ~" Her voice trailed off as she gave a long sigh. "Without Tholin being on the ship, the Owl would have been destroyed at the Mos Eisley. One of the mercs had a custom thermal deonator that they where going to attach to the ship. I don't know the why, but it might be the cargo we are carrying. As Captain, I now own him a life debt. I'll be in his quarters for a moment then I am going back to rest.".
"Saved your life?" I asked. "He was the last thing you mentioned before you blacked out. More stunts like that, and he might end up being the death of you..."
I could feel the man approach the door, concerned, I think. It was the first time I'd sensed another's emotions. Perhaps that's because they were stronger this time, or maybe it was given to the fact that I'm used to being around Daelon and Raine and Kelson, people whose feelings take the back seat to discipline and control. Fear can be our greatest adversary, or so Raine has told me.
When I answered the door without his insistance, he looked back surprised.
"Yes, sir?" I asked.
"Jedi Raine has requested you meet witha visitor that has requested her prescence," he informed me.
"And where is she?"
"Raine?" The man asked. "She is with another visitor. She will not be accompanying us."
"Oh," I said, surprised.
"Come," he said. "I'll lead the way, if it suits you."
I nodded, following him out the back way to a spot in the courtyard there where several guards stood around a man who sat cross-legged on the ground, a small boy siting next to him as if trying to mirror the man's form.
"He says his name is Tynan. Raine did not appear concerned, but suggested you approach with caution. She specified not to be aggressive," Sgt. Beegas stated.
I nodded. It was jedi business if I was being asked to handle it in Raine's absence. The lesser of the two tasks perhaps, or maybe a test, but still Jedi business.
I followed Sgt. Beegas over to where the two sat.
"Tynan, I believe," I said, stopping a few feet before him. "My name is Marius. I wish to speak with you about your business here."
"Damnit", Orin though vehemently. Thats one thing he didn't want to hear: Life Debt.
"Saved your life?" Mogo asked. "He was the last thing you mentioned before you blacked out. More stunts like that, and he might end up being the death of you..."
Orins feet came off the console as he leaned forward, venting his frustration: "Well of COURSE you owe him a Lifte Debt. How handy for him. What if he set all that up before he even entered the docking bay hmm? Who knows what he's capable of!?"
He crossed his arms and shut his mouth before he said anything he'd come to regret.
I seem to have been meditating for hours. The Force, both Dark side & Light flow through my counciousness, showing me glimpses of what is to come, & things that were. A particuarly vivid vision of the past sweeps over me... We have been battling for what seems like hours. Red blades clashing, energy sparking as each of us seeked a opening. I had been seking this fight for 3 years, & finally My Lord had deemed me ready for the Sovergn Protectors, but I had to prove myself. We circled each other & I felt him draw upon the dark side, draining the energy cell of my lightsaber. " Now, my son, you will learn what it means to face a Jedi when you are not one. Prepare to die, for I will be the new apprentice. He raised his saber for the killing stroke, & I hit the stud on the handle of my lightsaber, extending a foot of steel out of the butt & with jedi speed, closed on him, ramming the blade up under his chin, & through his skull. Blood pouring over my hand & theshocked expression on his facemade me laugh with triumph as his lifeless body fell to the ground. "pride is a path to the Dark Side, my lord Carradas, and also a path to defeat." Then I hear the familiar heavy breathing behind me. I immediately turn & go on one knee, bowing my head to the cloaked & armored figure approaching. "What is thy bidding, my Master?"
"You have done well, my new apprentice".....
My vision then shifts, & I see a world floating before me, & I see jedi on that world, then a cloud covers the world, & it begins to rain blood....
"Master Tholin, I am sorry to disturb you but we need to talk."
Kerra's thoughts break my trance, the vision floating away like a whisp of smoke. I turn to the door & open it with the force.
"Enter"
Tynan rose to his feet before Marius. The boy mimicked him. He eyed the man standing before him, up and down, taking in the lightsaber he wore at his belt. A Padawan, then. It irritated him that he would be passed off to an apprentice, but he refused to let it show. He kept his own lighsabers hidden under his cloak. No reason to worry the man.
"My business," he spoke softly, "is the training of this boy."
He waved his hand toward the boy, whom stepped forward obediantly.
"His name is Luke, and he has the Talent. I neither need, nor want an apprentice, and I'd like to speak with Jedi DuVall about seeing to the boys training." He raised an eyebrow. "I assume you are her Padawan?"
Padawan? Was it that obvious?
"That I am," I replied. "I take it you are trained as a Jedi as well, given that you said you don't want an apprentice and not that you were unable to train him. You mentioned Raine specifically. What is your relation to her? Have you merely heard of her, or are you old acquaintances?"
"We've met before. She came to the Academy before..." Tynan trailed off, his face hardening. "I'm no Jedi. Not any longer." He relaxed himself. "Nor am I Sith."
He shrugged, and looked around the small compound. "I was told of this place. Master Skywalker told us, if we ever needed sanctuary, this was one place to seek it."
He locked his eyes on Marius. "If that's still true, I would ask sanctuary for the boy. He's too young to be running around on his own. Especially with the Sith on the loose, and always looking for new apprentices. I would spare him that if possible. Will you take me to Jedi DuVall?"
"Currently, she is in council with another Jedi, but she should be ready to speak with you shortly. Until then, you will remain in my company," I instructed. "And that of Sgt. Beegas here."
Beegas nodded politely to the man, still holding is blaster in ready position across his waist.
Closing her eyes, she thinks back to what Mogo & Orin stated in the cockpit. Their complains were valid but neither of them felt the disturbance for themselves. She also knew that Mogo was very concerned because he almost never called her by her first name. Kerra still need to talk to Tholin, what she didn't know about the force could possibly kill her, without further instruction from a trained force-user. He was the one that could train her, even if he was a Sith warrior.
Feeling a disturbance in the currents of the force ahead of her, she opens her eyes. The door to Tholin's quarters opens & his voice emanates from there. "Enter." Pulling her energy together & walks right into his room, Kerra knows that she looks visibly tired but must say her piece with him before the crew tries to tear him apart. "What ever you did to Mogo & Orin, did not win them over. They are both very animate about dumping you on the next close rock we find." She gives him a weak smile.
"They think it was you that cause me to blackout. But we both know better, it was that thing in your bag that did it." Moving up close, Kerra then pokes him in the chest with each word she speaks. "That was no ghost nor a memory, that sent the force wave out." She pauses for a moment to catch her breath. "Look as Captain of the ship, I can't be put on a need to know basis. If its something that can endanger the crew or myself, I have to know it's there so I can anticipate any problems."
The Captain/my apprentice/ whatever she is walks in & immediatelt chooses the wrong tactic to get her point across. Poking me in the chest she demands to know what hit her. I reach out & take her hand in mine, not letting it go. " What I did to them was much less than two people deserve who pull a blaster on a Sith. As for what hit you, actually it was the anger & rage of a Force Spirit, contained in a Sith Holocron. " I release her hand & stand up & begin pacing. "Mellinia ago, the Sith learned how to transfer there life essences into specialy prepared chambers, & into people. Being as cloning had not been perfected, usually the new body's spirit was driven out, & desroyed by the Sith Lord that took the host's body. But sometimes, a host fought back, & the Sith did not get his body. Those Sith were trapped in Holocrons, & they usually were not happy about being in them. Ocasionally a Sith was sentenced to the holicron. Mine is one such as that. Four rebels are sentenced in there, & they desperately want a body. Since only a force-using creature can activate a holicron, the spirits were trying to call you to use the holicron, & in doing so maybe destroy your spirit, & be free again." I turn to her, looking her in the eyes. " Therefore, if you keep out of my things, you are in no danger. As for setting me down on the nearest rock, set me down here, at these coordinates." I hand her a datapad with the coordinates of the planet I sensed in my vision. " Once there, you will be rid of me. Now, please go inform your very loyal and foolish crew of the course change."
