Spacebar 3.0 >.<

Good evening, everyone. I'm working on some laundry and house stuff. I'm leaving for CJs tomorrow and I'm so so excited. :D

I always love book sales, though I end up bringing home more than I sell usually. When I was in grad school I worked at an independent bookstore. I joke that for two years I never made any money because whatever I made I spent with the employee discount.

Tiamo - it sure looks like your journey takes you right up that corridor!

TN learning to sew (both with and without a machine) is pretty straightforward - just hand/machine skills and practice! Good luck on the equipment. The huge advantage of bespoke systems for backpacking is you get exactly what you want. That can make a huge difference from subtle changes.

Tiamo - good luck with the expansion! Hope it's hours of fun with good friends.

Starry - slow and steady wins. I found when I was in physical rehabilitation a couple of years ago that I would rise and plateau and rise and plateau. The plateaus were tough spots.

Paul, I've done leatherworking and minor equipment repair for a while now. I really like using a self feeding hand stitching awl. However, I've always balked at purchasing a leather or heavy canvas stitching sewing machine due to the equipment cost. What I'm going to be doing will best be done with a very inexpensive no frills sewing machine.
One of the trade offs of doing gear repair or maintenance is that once people figure out you know what your doing they want to hit you up for repair projects. I don't mind a bit of light hobby work but know my limits.

Good! You need a break so I hope you have a safe trip and enjoy yourself...or is that selves...;)

I hate that diabolical gleam that comes into a Doctor or designee before they pop you with a needle. The larger the needles gage the more diabolical the gleam. I hate needles, I tolerate what needs doing but don't like it.
.

I think I freaked him out cause I didn't flinch or move.
I've sure slept a lot this afternoon and evening.

I just look away and tell whoever's giving the shot to go for it. My mom was a nurse and I watched her give so many shots over the years it became uninteresting. As far as freaking doctors out, yeah, they're easy to rattle if they find out they got something wrong. One sewed my hand up when it wasn't fully deadened once. He pulled tighter on the last stitch and I winced a bit. He was surprised and couldn't understand how being stitched up hurt less then the shots to deaden the area.

On the subject of shots - I'm pretty immune to them. Since I travel extensively I've been vaccinated for everything, including alien venom lol. It's just a needle. It just hurts a bit. (Ignore that mysterious pulsating neon green ooze - it's a minor side effect)

Tnman - I once had my hand stitched by my brother. With a sewing needle and thread. Then coated with axle grease. We were tough kids and...remarkably stupid lol. (Oddly enough it healed faster and cleaner then other professional stitches)

MMW glad you're feeling better! Have a great trip.

Shmily - goodnight fellow traveler!

Hi Soul and Azul :)

I'm tucking in as well. You all have a great night.

*starts coffee*

Good morning all.

So we're officially in the last half of November. This year is going so fast. What will you take from this year?

For me, the biggest event from 2016 was definitely the job change. Going from a warehouse to a shop is definitely different and has been hugely instrumental to my year.

Morning Spacers

Can I ask a favor? If any of you guys are living where the rain is plentiful, can you please send some down so we can get rid of these wildfires? Amazing when the smoke is coming off of them hundreds of miles away ...

Hope all you guys have a great day!!

Shmily Great to have you in our state. Please stay as long as you can. Cool Chicks are always desired!!

The only stitches I've had were closing the scope holes in my shoulder surgeries and then the huge amounts for both Achilles tendons and when I had my girls made smaller. Thank God I was under for those. I almost passed out when they pulled the drains out. I can handle pain but when you push past my limit its pretty bad.

Your Blueness ~ this whole year has been one huge shift.... like starting a new life kind of thing. Something between a caterpillar change to butterfly or when a Gecko looses his tail and has to find a new balance to life. I'm not opposed to change but this has felt like a huge avalanche dropping on me.

HC ~ I'd send you rain if we had any. It's been really dry here the past month. Good in some ways since it's end of hurricane season. But I know what you mean about the smoke hanging. We had it a few years back from fires up in the pan handle drifting down here. Not good for any living thing.
Morning Dumpling and everyone wandering in for coffee :rose:

Hi Spacelings

A quick drive through hello and a large coffee to go. A beautiful day here, starting with a big country breakfast with family and friends. Hope everyone is having a good day!

I love big country breakfasts with friends and family. Lots of people are all about pancakes or waffles and sides. Some about homemade biscuits with fresh butter and jam, or even honey. Blackstrap molasses on hot biscuits is pretty sweet too...I pun but true.:)

But my favorite of all is homemade buttermilk biscuits covered with homemade sawmill gravy...For those of you not in the know that's sausage gravy. Yum!

If you've never had fried country ham with redeye gravy poured over it and fresh hot biscuits then I'm truly sorry for what you've missed.

Thanks....Now I'm hungrier. Lol

Well its getting close enough to lunchtime for you to be dreaming about hot Mexican cornbread smothered under homemade Chili con carne...universally known in my hereabouts as chili. Top it off with some freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream and freshly sliced hot peppers of your own choice.

Now I'm going to have to either make a store run or go out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant. :)
