Spacebar 3.0 >.<

I currently have a cat sleeping on my chairs back so she can lay up against the back of my head. She's making me sleepy just radiating all that heat and purring.

Tomorrow's going to be a short out of town trip to meet family for lunch, then stop on the way back to make a grocery and supply run. Afterwards a session of leaf mulching in the yard.

I got to meet the new kitty at the place I am moving to. Her name is Dixie and she looks like
a cousin to your Oreo... maybe be more cream then chocolate tho.

A busy day approacheth.

A more personal question today if I may.

What is your opinion on talking shop when away from the workplace?

Morning Spacelings,

Azul...talking shop outside of said establishment is best avoided whenever possible. It's much the same as talking politics in that such discussions may well initiate as casual and friendly but end acrimoniously.

I guess it depends on what your "shop" is...
With what I do, I end up talking First Responder support at most events or certain projects get talked about when I run into the people who will want to know about them. For me it's making sure it's never about me... it takes the team to make things happen. I'm just a connecter and mouth piece.

Example - yesterday I worked a Heroes weekend parade we had before the beach volleyball event First Responders vs Military & Wounded Warriors. Since my Wounded Warriors didn't need me this year (blew me off basically) I switched the 6 cases of donated water to the Police & Fire Department teams. They were left over from the Honor Flight event last Tuesday. Those cases were paid for, written off & to go for first responders support. Then while helping the city event team pre parade I was able to hook up a camera guy I know from a local TV station with an interview with the wounded warriors, find out if our Congressman was coming to be in the parade. Once I got back down to the casino I worked crowd control & did some social media posts then stopped to talk to the JROTC team commander who posted the colors to ask if they would consider working the HF welcome home events next year and like an invite.

I caught a ride in the parade with the American Legion people & let their commander know I was meeting the girl who is cleaning up an old, small, black, local cemetery here from back in the segregation days. There are 247 veterans buried there. She's been using her tips from waiting tables to clean the place up and could use some help with gas gift cards, American flags, etc. The AL Commander has her visiting this morning to write her a check for $100 for gas. I switched out the faded American Flag while I was at the cemetery, took some pictures & then started working on more... Tuesday is the next clean up work day so I mentioned it to the local BBQ guy whose into the support help and was finishing up at the volleyball event. He's bringing lunch out at 11 am on Tuesday for the volunteers. My team is donating water & ice which I will take out early Tuesday morning and I'll have a clip board with me so we will start a wish list for stuff they need to make sure things keep rolling and are easier for her. I got to find a small bull dozer they can have move a couple huge piles of dirt.

There was blood spilled yesterday when one of the guys volunteering at the cemetery took my Swiss army knife to help with the flag change over. I'm pretty sure he thought he was saving me from getting hurt but he ended up cutting himself bad enough he needed stiches and I ended up doing the flag change over myself.

So that's how it rolls here on talking shop. Only 1 more week of veteran day events then I get a small break before Thanksgiving & the First Responder dinner for the teams stuck working the holiday here. The BBQ guy & I shared item lists yesterday so we don't overlap food this year.

Good Morning Azu and Everybody :rose:
its Monday & another Wknd shot;) wishing you all a Super Week:)

So I guess I owe an explanation for the question.

My daughter started working for the same pizza place that I do about a year and a half ago against my wishes. Except she was eighteen so I guess it doesn't count. Lol

Nowadays since we are at different locations now, we try not to, but it's kind of hard when crazy stuff happens at our locations. In my mind, it's easier to talk to someone who knows than someone who has no clue about the situation ahs such.

Good Morning Spacers

I hope you all are having a less chaotic Monday morning than I am. I had a great Sunday, though I never turned the computer on. (Sometimes, that is what makes a day great.) My day was entertaining, all in all, though more so for me than other people.

Today has been a bit chaotic, though I've stopped for lunch and the afternoon should be smoother since I don't have anything I have to do but read a stack of reports.

I talk shop away from work all the time, if the other person is willing too. It's kind of the nature of the consulting business that you're always on. Plus, you never know when a casual conversation with a stranger is going to open up some lucrative business deal, some low hanging fruit just waiting to be picked.

Hello Spacesters!

Thank you to all who've inquired about how the party went. That one day was probably the most exhilarating, stressful, yet rewarding day of my life. You wouldn't believe how many people suggested I throw parties for a living. Lol, if they only knew what a little hermit I actually am. :) But I do like to have fun and give people the time of their life.

I'm in recuperation mode now. I had a massage yesterday with four hands on me at once. I'm booking another for tomorrow. I'm flying out to California for a few days to relax away from home. Starting to get some fresh air again outdoors. It's November and it's still sunny and 60's/low 70's. I can't believe it.

Nighttime I've been having a blast reconnecting with old friends in my favorite video game. God, I thrive on that. Maybe I'll record some footage when I'm in my element, haha.

Also, something... unexpected happened. I'm not sure how to process it yet, but I'll see how it all plays out. I had to rejoin my old solitary guild in game while I think it over.

Talking shop when away from workplace? Well that usually involves a bunch of techy talk, and in the past when I worked with people, I'd throw parties and we'd talk a lot of shop. And talk a lot about the video games we played. Including my fiance, he made friends with my male colleagues. Maybe I didn't answer the question correctly. haha.

Glad the party turned out well Tiamo.

Yeah, among my circle, one of the reasons we talk shop a lot is generally, we're all in the same shop (consulting, technology) so the conversations can get very interesting and you have a chance to learn new things, new tricks, and to hear about new technologies - and to practice your coffee/elevator pitch.

Starry - whew, LOL, your days where me out!

Well...it's been a busy morning and early afternoon. Changed the oil in my truck, washed it, wrote some checks and dropped them off at the appropriate places. Then I made a grocery run. Tonight's going to be broiled ribeye steaks, a baked potato and onion and steamed broccoli. Tomorrow's going to be a really nice beef pot roast...I had some store bought fried chicken I pulled off he bones and stuffed in a pita wrap so I'm good now.

I miss talking with techy friends. Now it's very rare, and the RL women I meet lately don't even barely touch the tip of the geekiness I could engage upon.

That sounds delicious! I need me a tnman to help me eat good food. I've been eating leftover pizza and cupcakes for a few days.

Also, I told him absolutely NO BLOW JOBS for a few days. Something weird happened to my jaw and I can't open my mouth. My first thought was that would make for a painful and tiring blow job experience.

And no, I didn't get drunk and fall down (in the past that would've been a possibility) and I didn't get into a punching fight. And I recently went to the dentist last month and all was perfect... It's a mystery!! I'm probably going to die of some weird disease.

They wear me out too now. I used to be able to go 12 or 14 hours a day until I snapped that first Achilles.

On the plus side I got invited to the volunteer lunch by the city on Wednesday. So that's a first

Wish you were here today. I started to smell antifreeze on my engine this afternoon & the heat gage went up a hair. I stopped at the auto parts place but they were too busy to help me so a customer opened my hood for me cause I can't lift that heavy thing up without paying the price. I can't see where the smell is coming from. So I bought some more antifreeze and made it home. I'm gonna have to try & open the hood up in a little while & check levels to see what's going on.

I miss the tech talk too some days. But then I have found that the tech friends often don't understand the military part of my life. So it's an odd balance.

T have you ever been checked for TMJ???

It's actually called TMD, TMJ is after the joint. But it does sound like that may be it. I'm giving it one more day to see if it improves. Maybe a few more because this is like the ULTIMATE DIET! Haha, I haven't felt like eating for an entire day since I've had it.

All joking aside, I think it might be stress built up from the party planning. If it doesn't improve after a massage tomorrow, I'll go in to either my doctor or dentist then.

Blow jobs should never be tiring and painful - for anyone.

Starry - I can still run all day, now though I rarely see the reason to. Things will wait until tomorrow, at least in my world. I'm more inclined to being the tortoise rather than the hair these days. Slow and steady wins the race. Yeah, in the course of my life I've moved in several different worlds and understanding across those worlds is difficult for people who have no experience to ground themselves in.

Tiamo - jaws do weird things, if it doesn't clear up in a few days, I'd see an orthodontist for starters. My jaw was broken twice in my younger/wilder days so it has a tendency to do weird things, including lock up if I yawn too widely. LOL and I'd never envisioned you as one for punching fights, so I may have to redraw that visual map.

tnman - I think you should invite us all over for dinner - it sounds good!

Tiamo, the rule is when one partner can't preform oral delights the other doubles down and gets the feel good endorphins going for he grand finale. :)
I really hate that your jaw hurts, I've had wisdom tooth pain and an abscess once that were bad so I sympathize.

Starry, you need to call one of your public safety friends over to look at your vehicle first. At worst your looking at a new heater core or thermostat. At best its a leaky hose, worn out radiator cap or you just need to have your radiator flushed.

Paul, if I can grill, broil, use a crockpot or play around with a solar oven I'm safe with food prep. I really need to sign up for a cooking course and take a gardening course because they improve confidence.

hello all, seems it's been a busy day in the spacebar.

in my line of work, we are with the same people - 10-12 hrs a day than most of us live in the same RV park so there is interaction there also. Talking shop is a habit. It's nice to meet others away from the business and not talk shop.

tnman - dinner sounds good this week. maybe we all need to come visit. :)

So... my neighborhood had a major gas leak from a new construction area a few blocks away...AND there's a grass fire running rampant. Should I be worried?

If Tiamo goes up in a blaze of glory tonight, don't forget I love you all!!!

Hmm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCeIIcPAwv8

Love you to kiddo...The last time I saw a high-pressure gas line fire all I could do was stand there in amazement. It was like the worlds biggest rocket engine ever...

And I thought you would say something comforting! I just sat down to play a game, now I'm freaking out! Haha.

LOL...the worst natural gas line rupture and fire I saw was really loud, put out some pretty good heat but only damaged an area the size of a small house lot. The fire department kept water on nearby houses and aside from some burnt grass and a damaged house it wasn't bad. I think your going to be ok but if it burns it'll make some really cool pictures.
Now if it were a gasoline pipeline or a propane rail car or large tanker involved in a wreck and leaking I'd have long singe said get out of there.
