I agree with you100%. Couldn't be said any better.

How's your day going?

It's a good day so far - I have the day off, so I went for a morning run and ending up coming home with donuts, which defeats the point of the run LOL. Then just hung around enjoying coffee. I had one work teleconference, then I've got a luncheon to go to in about an hour, then a couple hour of idleness followed by a late afternoon work call. All in all it's lining up to be a fairly sweet day.

How is yours going?

(And just reading that I realize I am kind of career minded/driven when I consider a day off as only two meetings and a luncheon LOL).

If you love what you're doing, then you have 90% of the world beat. A career is nothing to be casual over, you have to put in work.

There's a lot of backstory to this thread but one of the primary motivators here has been being nice and speaking to one another. There's some jealousies on lit where "if you talk to them I won't talk to you" take place. It's something the core posters here consider unpleasant. So, the friendly and courteous things you see here are genuine.

That's why I am careful for where I post & when.

Oh, I definitely agree with that. About twenty odd years ago now I realized that I had more control over what I did for a living then society wants you to believe and changed into a field I truly love. There can be crushing stress, but it's more akin to the physical exhaustion that comes during a football game or at the end of a boxing match. Yes, it can be brutal, but it's a good brutal. It comes with a sense of accomplishment, whether you won or lost.

I was commenting to a friend the other day that I am amazing at how many things there are in the world that people actually make a good living doing. We were watching Forged in Fire (one of my guilty TV pleasures) and I said "why didn't my guidance counselor tell me I could make a living being a "historical edged weapons expert". Crap, all that time I wasted in college when I could have been running around playing with sharp pointy things.

I made it to Friday!!! I hope things slow down some from here.

Got the left over cases of water over to the PD Chief (FD was on a call out) for the First Responder beach volleyball event on Sunday. Since the wounded warrior team didn't call me to take care of water & ice or book the support equipment this year I went ahead and gave the cases to my local First Responder teams. Which frees me up from loading & hauling everything myself this weekend!!!

It's time to go hit BayShore over in South Tampa for the Friday Flag Wave.
Sun, water & military men on their way home for the weekend!

I hope you've all had a great week! :rose:

Welcome to Friday Starry! Glad you made it too. :)

Sounds like you have another busy weekend ahead of you.

I can remember when I first landed my Rep job on the road with MSFT. The job lady at the Unemployment Office said that wasn't a real job because it wasn't listed in their data banks. I was working part time hours with more then full time money. Officially she had to tell me turn it down & keep looking. Unofficially she said grab it and run! and I did until I blew out that first Achilles tendon.

Mainly just packing and a couple Veterans day events. The volleyball event Sunday & the 12th is a boat parade. I've never really ever been on a boat here so that will be something different. I think my WWII friend has a speaking event I'm to take her too but I haven't heard the follow thru on that. She might pass on it tho.

it's been crazy this week. I have been pushing PT hard at home & the PT Dr told me that Thursday my better shoulder looked worse then my newest one. So now I'm to bust a hump on both. I think I need a massage to get them both lose.

So you have any plans for this weekend??
You always do something cool. :rose:

It wears you down mentally. I admit I had a career , now I have a job. I am happier now, but have less money to burn.

I do have something I'm looking forward to. A good friend of mine is a dog trainer - he and wife train all kinds of dogs - companion dogs, tracking dogs, police dogs, and rescue dogs. This weekend they're having some sort of symposium at Half Moon Bay, so in exchange for a free lunch several us are going to go down, don our wetsuits, and hide on the beach (in the rocks and swamps) so they can demo the dogs finding us as if we were lost swimmers/surfers washed ashore. It's an adult game of hide and seek. :)

That's the kind of things I like seeing dogs do. I used to own bird dogs and had beagles for rabbit hunting. All I wanted to do was watch the dogs at work doing what they loved the best. I've watched police and tracking dogs at work and been impressed. At this point all I'd care to work with would be a good therapy dog for hospitals and nursing homes or a search and rescue dog.

Yes, I've always had in the back of my mind that when I go into retirement/semi-retirement I'd like to get a pair of comfort/therapy dogs to visit local hospitals and shut in's. I think that would be a good way to give back small kindnesses to this world.

Hope you all are enjoying a beautiful Friday evening, where ever you are.

How cool is that??? I knew you'd have something really unusual to do.
I am Soooooo jealous cause it sounds like a really great time plus the dogs are getting in some training time.

Hey Starry.

hey. How was your Friday???

I made it thru a very nice breezy & great temps Friday flag wave. Stopped at Hooters for dinner & then hit a bad accident with my local PD team working the scene. Tomorrow morning I have coffee with a cop... my support team sponsored it coffee wise but I'm not required to go. This time it's at the museum so I might pass & do the one next week at the coffee shop. Less bitchy old ladies complaining about people walking dogs & other stuff like that.

Keeping busy. Always on the move. Hope everything turns out well

Morning Spacer's. It's pretty outside here today so I hope all of you are seeing beautiful weather as well. Let's keep out finger's crossed and send out positive vibes for a fellow Space- barista extraordinaire today who's got a full and busy day to conquer. No pressure....:)

*looks at the rain before setting our coffee, donuts and chocolate milk*

Good morning all.

I had a few errands this morning. Just got home with donuts and chocolate milk for the fam. We have rain of course.

I am sending positive vibes to our "little monster" that everything goes well.

Hi Spacelings

Hope you are all having good evenings, wherever you are, whatever you're doing.

Had a great day here, the weather was perfect, if a little cold and the demo went well. LOL - those dogs are pretty freaking extraordinary, and they love their work. They were so excited when they found the various "rescue people". I swear, they would have been high fiving each other if they could.

Awesome news guys.

I have just arrived home from a bleh shift. So I am looking forward to a quiet night once I pick the daughter up.

I currently have a cat sleeping on my chairs back so she can lay up against the back of my head. She's making me sleepy just radiating all that heat and purring.

Tomorrow's going to be a short out of town trip to meet family for lunch, then stop on the way back to make a grocery and supply run. Afterwards a session of leaf mulching in the yard.

Morning Spacer's Carpe diem!!!

Coffee's ready and there's hot water for tea and such not. :)

I hope everyone has a great day even if its just being a big ole slug a bug and doing nothing...:D

*grabs a cup of coffee*
Thanks man.

I hope someone's party turned out awesome. :)

I have a ten hour shift at the pizza place even though the home town team doesn't play until tomorrow night. :)

ok I am way too tired....
I couldn't remember what I even did Saturday. It was Coffee with a Cop and then doing a few clean up things for Honor Flight. Today was help out a little with the Veteran's day parade this morning. It was pretty funny. One of my news camera guys showed up so I grabbed him an interview with a veteran Wounded warrior playing today. Then when the staff wasn't sure about the congressman coming or not I offered to check. lol... They all stopped & looked at me oddly when I offered to find out. It was no big deal just a text for me but I forget sometimes that not everyone is up on who I work with / for.

I'm home to do laundry & rest before heading over to a small local cemetery to meet a lady who is heading up cleaning it up. The owner just lets it sit & rot. I'm gonna replace her faded American Flag and then I've got her hooked up with the local American Legion who offered to donate some money for gas for the lawn mowers. This is a very old cemetery from when segregation was around. Blacks & whites couldn't be buried in the same cemetery. This is a black cemetery so old there are people buried from the Civil war forward with over 200 veterans buried here.

Busy for not a full day working. The slumlords just texted they were headed over. This should be special. I seriously need a nice big scary guy friend to stand behind me & glare.
