South Carolina now has a 6-week abortion law.

The South Carolina Supreme Court has thrown out a state law banning abortion after cardiac activity is detected, typically around six weeks of pregnancy.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster on Thursday signed a bill into law that will limit most abortions as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.

So which is it? Ban or no ban? 🤷🏾‍♀️
Not being deliberately obtuse just a little puzzled by the conflicting news stories.

Back ally illegal abortions, you mean? Some women will die from them. The rich or middle class will be able to afford to travel to a state where abortion is legal, but the poor in somewhere like Louisiana (where there's no legal abortion for loads of miles) will be doomed. And then there's what they are doing in Idaho, in trying to criminalize travel for abortion, or anyone "assisting them".

In Indiana...they just disciplined the doctor that suggested to a 10 yr old rape victim to get an abortion...because Republicans support the rape of 10 year olds. You know...it is God's blessing

A South Carolina judge on Friday temporarily blocked the state's new law that bans most abortions after about six weeks, ruling that it should be considered by the state Supreme Court before taking effect.

State Circuit Judge Clifton Newman granted reproductive rights groups' motion to block the legislation, which Republican Governor Henry McMaster signed into law on Thursday. The judge's ruling allows a previous law permitting abortions up to around 22 weeks to stay in effect until the state's highest court has reviewed the new ban, according to local media reports.
