I was up at a little after 2:00 am this morning taking the dog out, (yes, I’m a push over) when on my way back in, that is to say when I was walking through the dining room I glanced at my computer and instead of the screensaver I saw a typed paragraph on a dark screen…NOT good.
It was going on about some driver It needed off the Windows CD or I could go piss up a rope for all it cared… you know the bullshit message you get when the hard drive is fucked but Microsoft doesn’t want to tell you that straight out.
So I turned it off and went back to bed (sufficient to the day is the evil thereof or something like that) deciding to work on it in the morning before leaving for work while taking some hope what with two hard drives and with the information backed up on my network server thingy, that I might come out of this situation with at least the important stuff intact.
The first thing I did was to push the on button to see what would happen. What did happen was a List popped up showing all the drives installed…the master drive being conspicuous by its absence. I also noticed that the Gigabyte count on the slave drive was impossibly high.
Well now, what the hell?
I shut down and disconnected what I thought was the master drive and connected the slave in its place. The master is a copy of the slave, which was the original master hard drive.
I fired the mother up and she booted right into window XP Pro with everything in it’s place.
HUH?
What the hell?
I checked and it was the real master drive and the slave had bit the dust! The real master was only one year old and 320 Gig’s.
I’m eying another 320 Gig drive I have here and wondering if its submissive…
Oh Yes, no Porn was harmed during this incident.
