I'm another woman who gets horniest the few days before my period. Yes, I'm insatiable. And if there is ever a time when I'm prone to trying new things, I think that's the time. Those days before my period, I want it harder, wilder, naughtier, dirtier and louder, and much more often than any other time of the month. I get very horny the week before and the week after my period. During the first three or four days of my period I become aroused very easily (I think it has something to do with the way the sanitary pad rubs against me with every move I make), but I usually don't do anything about it. The answer is in the hormones which fluctuate during a woman's cycle. This was my pattern, too, before birth control pills. Horny immediately before, and during. If you are taking bcp that are even dose of hormones for 3 weeks on and one week off, one possible side effect is that the body changes so that you don't have as many peaks and valleys as far as being horny. I don't really like this side effect of bcp. I was much more in tune with my body before taking them. I could tell you where I was in my cycle just by emotions/horny level as well as by normal vaginal secretions (they vary during the month, unless you are on bcp). But there are enough other benefits to bcp that I overlook this side effect, even though I do miss the "I gotta have sex NOW" feeling. Although now when I do get that feeling, I'm usually sure something else is motivating me rather than just my hormone level.

teehee, <blush> Maybe I should explain why oral is off limits to me during that time. It's got nothing to do with my hubby. <blush> as he already has that under his belt. It comes from me having been with a guy who couldn't stomach doing any oral on me, and told me all the time that I tasted nasty and should do something about that. Well, needless to say the one time my husband went down on me during that time of the month, I thought my period was finished, well he said it wasn't a bad taste, just really metallic tasting. <blush> Also, so nobody asks me any embarassing questions, I am very, extremely hygiene conscious and have been since my first period. I don't douche as I have been told by my doctor that douching is really bad for us women. At times in my life I have experienced a greater desire for sex during my period. I never did anything about it, because I always felt "dirty" too. To be honest, it never ever occurred to me (before coming to LIterotica) that ANYONE had sex during her period. Aside from the mess, I guess there's really nothing wrong with it, so I will reserve the right to try it sometime as long as Whisperhubby is willing.

Now, as far as smell, the blood and mucus that comes during the height of the flow is distinctive, but it isn't unpleasant. However, at the tail end of my period, comes some nasty darker stuff that does smell bad. I don't have any disease or infection. That's the way I've always been. So for that two days or so, I don't think anyone would want to be near my crotch.
