Cleaning out my grandparents old house I found an assload of old vhs tapes. I tried to knit with them. Like pull the tape out and knit with it, because my grandparents idea was to throw them away, and I was like, "Hey, maybe I can upcycle it into something cool!"

Oh my fucking god my head hurts. My head hurts so fucking bad. Apparently, I'm not the first dumbass who's tried this. IT CAN BE DONE but those sumbitches work by rearranging magnets that fuck with the electrical impulses in your brain. So if you have low frequency brainwaves, like I do, it causes a HELL of a headache that doesn't go away until your brain just kind of powers through it.

This was a shitty idea. And the thing is, I feel like i should have known it was a shitty idea prior to actually trying it. I legitimately have no idea why I thought this would work.

The tape is a raw material. The fabric is a processed material. Neither are an end product.

The only stupid part of this is not thinking of some use for the fabric.

It was gonna be a tote. But then I realized that it would destroy any electronics put inside of it and also that it gave me a horrible headache, admitted my mistake and let my grandparents throw them out.

I think that is true. I don't believe there is enough residual magnetism on the tape surface to affect anything around it. If this was the case, vhs tapes would erase themselves when wound around the spool in the cartridge.

More likely you are suffering from cobalt, iron or chromium poisoning, or a combination thereof.

It wouldn't harm electronics, and your headache was probably from the effects of outgassing vinyl.

Did you watch Cast Away recently or something?
