Okay, this is not some type of question about sexual slang.

I want to know, who outside of New York and Rhode Island (and without the use of google or wiki) knows what a "Hot Weiner" is.?

I live in Jersey but work in Midtown Manhattan, so I assume that makes me ineligible to answer the question. :D

Yup you're right in the heart of "weinerville"

But what amazes me is they are big in RI and NY, but my wife grew up in Boston and they never heard of them and most people in CT either.

Sausage wrapped in a hot pepper and then water bath canned? I have even used hot dogs.

I feel like I should know considering I attend school in Manhattan, but alas, I know not the terms for street food.

I googled both of your weird things and I don't want that Hot Weiner anywhere near my mouth.

I really like learning about regional foods though. We have something called "sushi pizza" here. Any guesses as to what that monstrosity comprises?

In DC we have the half-smoke

I Googled and got this....

I just don't like really messy foods! I'm a wuss. Do you like those? There's a restaurant here that sells sausages made out of all sorts of crazy things: kangaroo, elk, guinea fowl, etc.

Also poutine, obviously:

Half-smokes are food carts and baseball stadium foods. The food carts (as opposed to the bigger food trucks) are mostly there for the tourists and I don't get into the tourist areas very often.

At a ballgame though, I get one just because that's what you are supposed to do. I'm going to the game on Thursday and I'll have one for you!

What's with all the pussified names for food coming out of RI?

Beats me, I don;t name them, but a wimpy skippy is from a pizza place called caserta's and is a deluxe spinach pie with pepperoni and olives and cheese and is baked. Damn good

They also have a pepper pig,

That looks pretty good.

The thing about "weenies" is they smell pretty strong, but if you're in the mood they smell great and taste better

But if someone else is eating them and you're not in the mood they stink t high heaven.

Thank you! Wherever I am on Thursday evening, I'll mime putting something hotdog-shaped into my mouth in your honor. That's a totally unambiguous pantomime, right?
