Or, perhaps you could take some constructive criticism and improve your grammar for everyone's benefit, including your own, instead of acting like a child and outright refusing to. Just because someone can read words with their letters jumbled does not mean they want to.

That's also completely ignoring the grammar point. Lack of proper punctuation can change how a sentence reads entirely. I was happy to pretty much ignore every thread you make but you're obviously inviting more criticism with this topic.

He told you what else you can do. Take constructive criticism AS constructive criticism. Seek to better your writing rather than pass off your errors as someone else's failure of intelligence.

Lack of grammatical clarity is the WRITER'S problem, not the reader's.

Your position in this thread is that you should be permitted to be as unclear as you like in your relationship with your readers, and if they ask you to be more clear, well, fuck them.

Personally, I find that grammar and spelling errors can drastically take away from the enjoyment of a post.

We are writing on Literotica, and maybe it's a bit much to demand that erotic writing be an art form.... but IMHO such errors are like cracks in a beautiful vase. One or two fine lines is acceptable, but when it's cracked so much that the vase can't even stand together... its lost the purpose of it. (okay maybe this analogy is a bit stretched I don't know if any of that made sense lol)

I suppose beyond all of that... is that making the mental twist to read grammar and spelling mistakes still takes an extra effort that contributes to the turn off of the entire post. Which then makes it harder to reply back, or even enjoy the story and sex to the extent that it should be enjoyed.

It's great that you're working on it, I say keep it up, but something like this is a fault the writer has to fix as opposed to pushing it on to insult another's "intelligence". I think that even if one can read such mistakes, it is always easier on the reader to not have to read them....

(Also, you can try typing your posts up in Word. Just going through the spell check function after you're done writing the post should drastically improve spelling and most grammatical errors.)

i would agree this is true you make a good point though im not entirely blaming reader or the oposite party sorry it it sems like that but i get flamed andhave gotten flammed plenty a time for this because my writing is inelegable to a extent maybe the grammer which i no problem admiting is horrid i actually have to sit here and concintrate and slow down twice as long to wrie a post to make it have grammer im just no grate at it and i been workign on it for some time now i just cant seem to make it a habbit i completely suck at writing i been told this many a time my spelling on the other hand is no more then my fingers moving twice as fast as my mind so i dont always catch it untill after i post though thats why they also have the edit post button if i ever made a unclear point in a post i been told to edit it

Punctuation, it can save lives.


I'm not saying that your writing sucks, I haven't read it. However, when you choose a medium such as this to convey your thoughts, it seems a sound idea to be as clear and concise as possible, which would include proper grammar and punctuation.

From reading your posts in this forum, I would guess that you write in a "stream of consciousness" style, where the words flow just as they do in the natural thought process. Only a handful of writers have pulled this off effectively, and even they were criticized for trying it. Check out "Of Mice and Men", and you'll see how your writing appears to others. Might help with your style, too, if that's what you're going for.

hm so in my opinion I try not to be so judgemental to those who are not perfect writers because for one you have no idea where the person is posting or how long they have to post. Plus no one on this board is perfect. We're all human and make mistakes and to act like you're a better writer is absurd. I can understand disliking a writer or not wanting to write with someone due to not long enough posts but then again you have no idea of their time factor.

But when a person is trying then the best you can do is give them advice. I've rped with Nick once before and he is trying. Is he perfect? No. Does he spell every single word correctly? No. Does he write novel length posts? No. Does that matter? No, because not everyone wants to write novel length posts and don't give a fuck about what anybody says about their posts.

Some people are writers and want to improve their writing, others use this as an outlet when they are stressed.

The simplest way to introduce punctuation is to read over a post aloud. Where you pause briefly but don't inhale, put a comma. Where you pause and take a breath, put a period and start a new sentence. Just doing that will make what you write much easier for others to read.

And if you use firefox as your browser, you can install a dictionary add on that redlines your spelling mistakes. If you then right-click on that word (assuming you use windows) it will offer you the correct spelling to replace it with.

You obviously enjoy writing here very much. I think you would enjoy it more if you took the time to improve your writing skills. I can understand and sympathise with the problem you have typing slowly but it should only take a few minutes to read over a post and edit it.

If you don't want to do that, it's your prerogative. It's also the prerogative of others to choose not to write with you. There's no point getting bitter about it.

Easy to do but very difficult to master. I can never get to the bottom of it, so many possibilities and what looks right is often wrong under the expert eye.

Look...I don't know what the point of this post really was or is, but I will say this:
Grammar and punctuation and spelling are important.
A comma? A comma changes the entire meaning of a sentence.
A misplaced or misused preposition? The same thing.
An article? The same.
Spelling problems are usually just ugly and annoying, but grammar and punctuation? You NEED to get those right.
This is language, this is the medium.
If you try and can't master them, that's fine.
If you choose not to master them, and choose not to get the tools to help, that's fine too.
But don't get pissy when people look at your work and find it incomprehensible.

I suck at Photoshop. I use it in the worst ways possible, and I find myself without time or sufficient inclination to learn how to use it well. So, when I put my stuff out in public, and people say so, well, I don't get all self-righteous and "HOW DARE YOU CRITICIZE ME FOR BEING SHITTY AT SOMETHING". Why? Because I'm shitty at it.

Writing is about communicating. If you can't communicate, you aren't writing.

Maybe it's just me. What do I know.
