Singledad's Bootcamp

There was a similar thread that died a few months ago. I'm so happy to see THIS thread here. :D:D:D:D

Accountability is key. I'm psyching myself up to sign up for a 5K and maybe a Dirty Girl event. I did sign up for a 2 mile walk for "Save the Manatees"

I've got to get off the sugar again. I'm thinking cold turkey. Any suggestions??

Got back into the gym today after being off last week due to the cold and then the cough.

I love the way I feel after I've worked out. The stress I had been feeling just seemed to dissipate.

Also on the plus side, the eye candy who is usually working out when I am there, asked me where I had been and if everything was okay. That's the first time he ever spoke to me. I thought that was nice.

Have you tried sugar alcohols like Erythritol or Xyletol? They worked for me before (I am battling to but my carbs now)

No gym in 2 days forme...I think I have a sinus infection and I don't want to pass it around. Will try to do some push-ups, crunches, etc at home...but motivation is in the toilet right now. :(

No, I haven't tried those. I will check them out. Thank you. :)

If you are normally really motivated, then maybe your body is telling you it needs some down time? Maybe a little walk or a bike ride would be better? Are you keeping your protein up? I hope you feel better soon!

Trying to...and I walk every day I hit the gym, 3.5 miles at 10 degree uphill...no bike :(

I want to get a beach cruiser to go tooling around the neighborhood on though

You hit it hard. Awesome! You seem to know quite a bit so you are probably doing fine on your protein (?). Since starting my program, I've come to understand the role of protein to our body's healing and muscle growth.

I just bought a bike a few weeks ago. I'm enjoying it. In fact, I pulled out my Polar to check my calories burned because it felt too easy and too fun. Giggles!

I've bounced through several programs (P90X, 10-minute trainer, Insanity, etc..) but as you can see in my pics, I'm not rockin the washboard. (I love carbs too much). I do try to take in a high amount of protein though. I'm usually in the 120-140g/day range

Any time you can have fun working out instead of treating it like a second job, you're ahead of the game! :D

Love this thread...I am in too!...

Thanks for starting this...

For me personally, I have had health issues recently...and due to that I am really trying so hard to make my health a priority...I have been eating so well now for the past few months...

But now...I am having to admit that just recently I am finding myself sneaking in some "not so good" goodies, more than I should :D...For me it is emotional, and these foods are comforting...I tend to do this in times of hurt or worry...Right now I have immense worries, so I am really needing to keep myself from going down that road...

I think no matter who we are, there will be times when we need the support, encouragement and motivation...even if we are motivated, strong or willing people...We have those moments...

My moments are now where I need the encouragement most...

Exercise is so essential for me, and so good for the mind...I do walk, but I need to get back to my swimming...I love it and will do that as soon as I can...

I will love reading the posts and think it is wonderful...

Thank you so much...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited, due to work, I haven't been able to post to this thread. Look how it grew without me even here! That is amazing, awesome, and all in all incredible!

It show's there people on here that want to get healthy, maintain accountability with others, and do it in a loving and positive way! I'm so happy about his.

So many commented that I can't go back and respond to each one so I just want to say thank you to all for all the positive feedback!

Welcome to the newcomers!!!!!!!!!!! We can all do this together, it doesn't matter what your condition is today, just start!

For those that eat do to emotions, I am not here to fix you, I am not a doctor, but I do have some recommendations. If you don't know this, you are grabbing that food because it makes you feel safe, it helps relive whatever is ailing you at the time. Essentially, you are self medicating, sorry this isn't a good thing. What can you do? First make note of it, can you catch yourself feeling tempted to grab that cookie, or pie or chips or whatever it is? Do you only realize you've done it until after you've done it? Hopefully, you can catch yourself as you're reaching. If this is the case, change where you hand goes!!!!!!!!! Call a friend!!!! Call someone that can help you come down off the need to medicate, bring you off of the ledge....then after, go for a walk, a jog, something physical. You need to replace the medication with something else, for me its God, but well not everyone wants that. The trick is to catch yourself reaching then saying no! But, don't do this alone, please oh please don't do this alone, call a friend. Let someone close to you know you're trying to work on yourself in this area. You will be surprised if you do this as they will soon ask you, "hey are you reaching for that cookie?" because they know you, they love you and they want to help.

I hope this helps.

As for getting off of sugar, I will look into this. I know a friend that's done this recently and I'm not sure cold turkey is the best way. I do know a way to start is to stop drinking any and all soda's pop's, coke's, whatever you want to call them.

Just to let you know, I'm back on doing the P90X at 5am! I'm tired today, but I will get my energy back!

Get out there and move it move it......we just need to move it move it!

Do transformations motivate you?

These two people made a conscious decision to NOT DIET, but to change they way they ate and exercise. PLEASE don't diet, it's not healthy, changing they way you do things is the answer. Does this mean you have to "give everything up"? No, are there things you should try to never eat YES! Just remember moderation is the key to living a successful and healthy life in regards to all aspects of it.

Now for some motivation!

I got my workout on the elliptical climber in today! I was feeling really good afterward and did some good stretching! My mind doesn't seem to be all tired and foggy as it was last week when I was sick.

Glad to see you are feeling much better!!

Just glad to see you! You've been a bit elusive the last few days. Hope all is well with you!

Yea... tis the new schedule. I have been trying to keep myself busy. This pregnancy had been kicking my ass. But I'm glad to catch up with great people like yourself!! :D

Well and here I was gonna post that I'm seriously considering a diet plan. LOL.

Already on it... I walk when the schedule and the baby allow me to stomach wise. Even though I'm in my second trimester, I still get as green as a frog some days :( (not easy bein' green) I start prenatal water classes next month that I'm pretty excited about though!! I LOVE the water! Funny since I'm no where near it!

When I was pregnant, I was in the swimming pool everyday after it was opened for the season. Must be why my son loves swimming and is so good at it! Keep it up!

Hey! You should post a picture of your baby belly! That would be too cute!

Seconded! show off the baby bump!

Heading back to the gym today finally, going to try and sweat off the fluff I gained back comfort eating while sick (I know, I know....but the pantry sings so sweetly when I'm lying on the couch feeling miserable!)

Where's my flogger....Mea Culpa!

Well if you can't find yours, then I guess I'll have to use mine on you!

Is that supposed to be threat or incentive dear? ;)

If you want an incentive, then I'll put on my cat costume with my spiked heels and use my flogger on you, after you have gotten off your ass and back into the gym!

If you want a threat, well then I'll do the same thing if you don't get your ass back into the gym, except I'll stand on your back in my spiked heels while flogging you!
