Singledad's Bootcamp

Fine. Okay then. :D I'm posting... You know, it was Memorial Day weekend and all... makes sense there wasn't much posting.
I'm off to climb back on the hiking horse. Bye...

Hi! I'm a married, 34, mom of 2. I started exercising and trying to eat better this past Jan. I am planning to run a 5k in July. I've been walking/running, doing yoga and doing some light weigh training at the gym for toning. So far I've lost about 15lbs but I still have about another 15-20 I'd like to go. Mind if I join you?

You're more then welcome to Snow! The thread keeps growing as long as people are using it.

If you have never run a 5k before, may I suggest an AP called C25K, its an app that helps people that don't run be able to run a 5 K in about 9 weeks I believe. Running 3 times a week.

Great job on what you've done so far and keep coming back, because you're worth it!

I have stayed off the Diet Cokes now for a few weeks...But I am so tempted right now to have some...I am exhausted, and need something to wake me up...I cannot go to bed...too much to do today...

I remember taking No Doz In college...I wonder if they still make it...lol...:D

A few weeks is fantastic! Don't worry, at some point, you'll have one every once in a great while. I had a diet Dr. Pepper yesterday because I was craving one. I always buy just the one 20 oz bottle and make sure it's super cold before drinking it. I like that fizzy coldness every once in a great while.

Now, when I am feeling tired, I find that icy cold water works better than a caffeinated drink, to wake me up. I also squeeze the juice from a wedge of lemon into the water.

Keep it up girlfriend! You can do this! Stay away from the No Doz! Yes, they still make it, but you don't need it! Try the ice water first!

So thankful though I'm not hankering for a hunk of cheese.. That really would be weird.. :D

Keep it up everyone. I'm proud of those of you who are sticking to this.

I have a recipe I LOVE for green beans, you didn't ask but I'll share.

Drop green beans in boiling water and boil for 5 minutes, make sure they don't loose their color. Immediately pour beans into a colander and rinse under cold water.

Heat 2tbls. of Olive oil in a skillet, brown 1 to 2 tbls of garlic, add about 3/4 of Pine nuts and saute until golden...........add beans and toss until warmed through.

Easy and SOOO yummy

Thanks SD..
This is a green bean medley with green beans, wax beans and carrots. I guess I could have sauteed, but didn't think to ... not like I have anything else on my mind

I ate them with a single hamburger, salt and pepper, no bun ( cause I really didn't want one)..

Tea sweetened with Lemon Stevia.

Now, if I can just wrestle my phone away from my son, I can go walk for a bit..

I'm proud of you, RA... whatever you happen to be sticking to...
Oh damn. You mentioned cheese. I try to stick to the stuff my friend makes from her cow's milk... kind of a semi hard (huh huh huh I said "hard"), swissy-parmesan type thing. Yummy. Let's just say cheese is a challenge for me.
I like fresh green beans right out of the garden—like I do for most veggies. Singledad's recipe for 'em sounds good, too. Since I'm a nut nut, I might add slivered almonds or the like... Shhh. Don't tell my dentist (I love, love, love my dentist ).
I swear I'm two inches bigger everywhere on the bod from all the BBQs, beer and lazing around on my butt I did over the weekend. Call it a "growth spurt" maybe :(
Today: Time for only a short dog trek, and walk to the Farmer's Mkt. Better than nothing...
We shall overcome. ;)

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been very busy do to a number of things and my time on LIT will be limited for the next month or so. Please keep this thread alive and post your workouts and keep on keeping on.

Thank you SD

Another benefit of working out with weights, I didn't need anybody's help in getting the bag of pea gravel or the 4 cement slabs out of my van!

I did it all by myself!

Nice! I helped my neighbor load a big old piece of driftwood into the back of his pickup... Big honking thing... When we we're finished, he said, "Damn. I ain't ever gonna piss you off!"
Going to get out and walk the dog, today. Didn't go yesterday at all... I have been eating pretty well, tho. It's freaking windy here today... Hope a tree doesn't blow down on us...

Taking a different route on today's jaunt:

I do use c25k sometimes. I used it last weekend when I went for a run out in an empty field behind our house that someone mowed trails in. After running into a couple snakes, I'm back at the gym using the treadmill.

I need to work on eating better. With kids it's hard, we are on the go a lot and I am afraid to use the grill by myself and hubs works late sometimes and plays raquetball once or twice a week. I know making pasta is not the best thing for me, but the kids lime it and it's easy. Any easy, healthy meal ideas?

I am off to get my work out done! I've put it off for a couple of days because hubby is here and working from home. Also, the swimming pool was opened for the season yesterday, and that takes me a while! So, elliptical climber, HERE I COME!!!!!

And here I thought when he came home you would double and triple up on your workouts! LOLOL....Way to go BK, keep up the great work!

Not been paying as much attention to my diet as I'd probably ought to, but I did get my walk in yesterday... so go me :D

I just finished off a giant Klondike Bar. Short walk today... slacking off, I am... I swear I've already gained pounds. Dog doesn't seen to mind, tho. Dogs are cool like that.
Tomorrow...

I'm heading out for a run as soon as I get my booty out of bed. ;) I'm going to focus on eating really healthy this week. I will have a smootie with kale for breakfast before my workout. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hour walk yesterday... working out still with hand weights. I'm back on the horse! Hallelujah!
Today, post work... beach hike.
