What makes me hesitant about Kik is that it really only works as ah app. I'm more comfortable using an on-line platform so that I'm not carrying around an app that could inadvertently open a door to a private set of correspondence.

You can get a free Google voice number to use for telegram, it has end to end encryption so I trust the security much better.

I have both KIK and Telegram and I still prefer KIK to chat. Maybe it is because I am used to it. But I also think it is because I don’t need a phone number, it is easier to me to share pics and vids.

With Telegram, you can hid your phone number but I do find it clunkier to send pic and vids. Straight forward conversation is easy enough.

If I had my choice and someone I wanted to chat with asked which I would prefer, it would be KIK

Pictures and chat are perfect for especially when the chat is detailed… the details can make the whole experience… I use telegram as well never used google chat before had Kik once but deleted that also…

Ugh, KIK with the constant ads and instability is annoying, but hard to leave the platform. I have the usual suspects, but I prefer Discord. Google Chat always feels like it’s going to be put out to the pasture, but it works well. Snapchat always gives me fomo

I typically used Telegram or Signal, Google Chat/Voice for those that I know from meeting IRL. I used to like Kik, but it's all ads and spam now, so I haven't used it in a long time. I would probably prefer going to Signal, but I have a couple of friends who chat exclusively through Tele. They're both decent solutions, each with pluses and minuses-but overall good for privacy and chatting
