What makes me hesitant about Kik is that it really only works as ah app. I'm more comfortable using an on-line platform so that I'm not carrying around an app that could inadvertently open a door to a private set of correspondence.

You can get a free Google voice number to use for telegram, it has end to end encryption so I trust the security much better.

I have both KIK and Telegram and I still prefer KIK to chat. Maybe it is because I am used to it. But I also think it is because I don’t need a phone number, it is easier to me to share pics and vids.

With Telegram, you can hid your phone number but I do find it clunkier to send pic and vids. Straight forward conversation is easy enough.

If I had my choice and someone I wanted to chat with asked which I would prefer, it would be KIK
