Hi, I'm a heterosexual female.

One of the great political topics is "same sex marriage." I would like to get opinions on this from those of you who are in committed same sex relationships. I find it appalling (that I can't spell) that as committed partners you are so limited.

The easiest example I can point out is a hospital. Should your partner, God forbid, end up in a hospital, you have no rights to information.

How do you deal with situations like this? Does it anger you as much as it frustrates me to think about all that you deserve, but cannot attain?

I have always wondered about this, but can't bring myself to,"hi are you gay? In a committed relationship? Can we talk?"

Thank you for your time.

PARTIALLY AGREE

I AGREE THAT IT IS A SHAME THAT DOMESTIC PARTNERS CAN'T GET INFO FROM HOSPITOLS AND SUCH. ALSO IT SHOULDN'T BE ILLIGAL FOR CONSENTING SAME SEX PEOPLE TO HAVE RELATIONS. IT STILL IS IN MANY STATES. THE ONE THING I DO OBJECT TO IS OUR PUBLIC DOLARS GOING TO DOMESTIC PARTNERS, ie HEALTH INSURANCE IN SOME PLACES A PERSON WHO IS LIVING WITH A SAME SEX PARTNER CAN GET HEALTH CARE UNDER THEIR POLICY. HOWEVER A HETRO COUPLE CANT GET COVERAGE UNLESS THEY ARE MARRIED. WHY IS THIS?
I BELIEVE IN EQUAL RIGHTS BUT NOT SPECIAL ONES FOR PEOPLE WHO CHOSE A DIFFERANT LIFE STYLE.
B T W I CONSIDER MYSELF BI AND OPEN MINDED.

Much of this problem could be erased if same sex couples were allowed to marry. Also, the health insurance benefits vary form employer to employer. Some cover same sex and unmarried domestic couples. Some do not.

Actually it is no longer illegal in any state to have relations with an adult of the same sex. There may be laws on the books, but those laws mean nothing since the supreme court case a few months ago.

Second and I know I'm going to sound like a bitchy stuck up queen here ranting about online etiquette, but can you please please Please! not use all caps. It is very unpleasant to read.

Exactly.

My ex and I lived together, unmarried for almost 4 years, and he had me on his insurance.

Until I started making more money, and then he was on mine. ;)

sorry

I know its impolite to use caps its like shouting. However it hides my inability to type so well. L.O.L. Glad to hear that the courts have done something to eliminate the problem some of us have had. Not to change the subject but what is the feeling on the boards about decriminalising prostitution, I dont mean make it legal just not against the law. By doing this we would do away with the need for pimps and make it easier for the girls to get medical assistance. Any thoughts???
