Sci-Fi/Fantasy Chain Story Idea

I'm of the oppinion that it's up to you ;)
If it ends up being 7 pages then it does, if I don't have time to read it all in one sitting (I'm a slow reader) I'll just remember where I was...No biggie there...

Which reminds, me, I'm a little behind on my reading aren't I?

Almost done, just dropped the bombshell of the story, and I'm getting ready to wrap 'er up. My editor is on call, ready to hack n' slash. I should make the deadline, but a worst case scenario is a day late, if I goofed up enough to require two or three edit drafts *laugh*

A day is okay, it only gets you a hundred or so lashes. ;)

Done, and in Roust's hands. Unfortuantely, I couldn't even contain it in the four pages, it spilled over into a fifth by a bit, even without the as yet unwritten closing notes. :: sigh ::

PMs with the second half on the way to Red and DL, as soon as I add the bbcode for the italics in.

So why did I never get whipped for it with Chapter 13???

I feel so neglected! :p

I should be spared the lash *laugh*

Roust has already finished the first-read, and has my corrections in his hands. That should take care of any technical errors ( I made a hash of a lot of pronouns in this one. g/g gives you a headache trying to keep the players straight and still keep your pronouns pointing at the right lady ) He's going to hit them tomorrow and give them the full microscope treatment when he's fresh, and then I'll make any of those changes and be ready to put it in the queue tomorrow after work.

I hit the jackpot with the very first editor to respond to me when I finally went searching, that's for sure. Dunno what I'd do without Roust's keen eye, willingness to argue with me, and rapid-fire turnaround.

Down to the wire, but I made it, by gum :D

What!!!! YOU escaped the wrath of RED!!!!

In my chambers now!
Woohoo! I get to be tormented by Red!

*scurries off to her chambers with his stub of a tail trying like hell to curl between his legs*

Right down to the wire, but the five page monster Ch. 15 is in the queue.

Outlaw's Redemption got nominated in the Golden Clits for Best Story in a Shared Universe ( Blinding White was nominated in that category earlier )

Unless I miscounted, that brings Laresa nominations up to 7. :nana:

Off to update my website with that information and the fact the story is in the queue. Hope I don't scare too many people off with the length :p

Very cool Dark. :) :D

*wanders out of Red's chambers looking abused but happy*

So has Red been nominated for best World yet? I'd noticed in my search a while back that there were a number of Laresa's but she still hadn't gotten world...*sigh*

World? Not sure what you mean there, but just knowing that Laresa's chapters by DK and Dark have been, are excellent. :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

Best Shared Universe category...I am so going to have to look into the nomination process! :rose:

Feel free to second all the nominations that are already in there too, because the ones with the most nods are the finalists that will actually be in the voting :)

( Just nominate the same story a second time to second it )

Will do Dark...

I think DK's Laresa's Universe was nominated for something like that.
His was nominated for best story in a shared Universe, but there's a separate category for the universe itself, targetted at the creator of the universe...And if there are so many nominations, then you CERTAINLY deserve one for inspiring us!

Thanks death. That's sweet of you. :rose: It has been a joint effort on everyone's part. :)

Wow, y'all have been busy as bees since my last chapter. I didn't realize that when I confirmed my commitment to do another one, but I'll give it the old college try. My bad. Mea culpa, that sort of thing.

Anyway, had to scrap my first idea, a colonial Virginia thing, due to lack of inspiration. I'm thinking of a WW2 connection now. Red suggested that I get feedback from you guys, after letting me in on how much things have changed since my last contribution. So, I'm huffing and puffing to catch up here.

Anyway, here's the general thrust, just to get your feedback.

SS hears of this Genie thing and gets the very wrong idea that she can be used to pull off a magical German victory over the Allies at the last moment. It's part of the usual occult stuff that the Himmler clique did in vain. The Abwehr (regular military spy agency) has a man tracking their actions and finds out what they're up to with this whole deal. He doesn't want any kind of fiasco, including the possibility of the SS using her to get too much power (again, he doesn't know the rules yet, either), so he seizes the ring for his faction in the Third Reich.

Meanwhile, the plot to kill Hitler fails, and in the chaos of it all, no one pays too much attention to what the spy is doing with the ring. The Abwehr chief is implicated, so the vacancy in the top spot gives the spy free reign to discover the rules for the ring. It also gives him a personal use for Laresa, to save his own skin in the midst of the war and the aftermath of the botched conspiracy. That's all I've got so far, but I thought that I'd get some input or feedback on the idea. It was the SS occult angle that gave me an idea of vaguely how to bring the ring into Nazi Germany in the first place.

I like it - a lot! Absolutely has potential, in numerous directions. Your spy could turn his back on everything and end up being hunted, you could keep the hunt down to Earth by having him so nervous/covert minded that he's only thinking about avoiding detection and getting out by normal means, just having Laresa pull him out of really sticky situations. You could also put a little metaphysical in it, and have some of those vain efforts bear fruit, such as finding something that can detect and track strong magic ( this has already been introduced by DL and my next chapter makes use of it as well ) That would mean he would have to be careful about using the ring.

There are a lot of directions to go with this one, and all of them have great potential. Indiana Jones certainly took this idea and flew into the stratosphere with it :)

My chapter should be out either tonight or tomorrow ( the latter looking more likely since it hasn't posted yet, but sometimes they run late ) by my reckoning... barring any delays from getting the May winners up there and the Winter contest.

Thanks for the input. Another facet is the idea that I'm toying with about his wife being unfaithful with a Party official, so he is too bitter at the moment to get emotionally close to Laresa. I was going to have her (the wife) turn informer for a second, but I decided that would be too complex and unrealistic (she isn't going to know that her husband really does for the Abwehr, after all). Basically, he's a very distracted, angry, and worried man. I don't know if there will be any sex or not, but if so, it will be very brief and probably only involve Laresa or the wife in question. It's much more of an action/drama piece than an erotic one.

I've been reading up to catch up and find that Djinn stuff very interesting, btw.

Don't worry, though. I'll have enough angles to cover without getting into the watcher business.

The new chapter just posted. Please note that the powers that be changed the title number, I submitted it correctly! I have no idea what they were doing, but they changed it to 14 for reasons I can't fathom. I even went in and checked my auto complete, just to make sure, and the only entries are 5, 10, and 15, so I didn't do it dagnabbit! *laugh*

** PLEASE remember. . . AS this story progress the chapters you are slotted for may not happen. The end of the story may be told before your chapter comes up. Also keep in mind that now that we've established a plot for our Laresa it may be a good idea to start linking a few of these chapters one after another. Not all mind you just some. . .eventually the story will come to an end, but it isn't ready quite yet. We'll see what happens. Thanks again for all of your involvements. :)

Sev,

I have no problem with the Third Reich angle so long as you stay clear of the holocaust and all that entailed. That would make it a bit too close to personal history.
