Sci-Fi/Fantasy Chain Story Idea

But Those beings have obviously written those rules knowing what can and cannot be done. Odds are they've experimented with disasterous results.

I pretty much see the universe taking steps to "eliminate" little problems that can destroy it. Somebody tries to pull something that will alter the flow of time that much, they simply get tossed out of the flow of time and cease to exist. Odds are, that has happened with one of the mythical creators, and they experimented until they found the limits.

I agree. And it would tie in very nicely with a group of them (the creators) and their descendants tracking down the genies that are still in the world.

What do you mean by that? Curious not critisizing. . . how would we step on our own feet?

I still stand by not wanting them to wish it, but again I want the others opinions too. Everyone is important in this work.

I agree. The genie was created through sacrifice, unwilling at that. I think we should stick to that.

As for the origins of the genies, I was thinking shaman for the creators.
The fact that they used real people would give us enough possibilities for difference in character.

Just my opinion.

Chapter 10 is in the queue :D
Wonderful, it's been a week - - - but I did submit 9. It shows 2 views, so maybe that is getting closer. :D

-- -- -- -- --

Since we haven't heard anything more on the origin of the genies or on the wishing to make yourself a genie . . . I am going to put in the cheat sheet the following two things. . .

1. The Genies all came from Laresa's People and were created by Shaman's (obviously the most skilled of the people) - Through sacrifices that were outlined in Tseranc's chapter 3.

2. You can not wish yourself to be a Genie - So there are no new Genies at this time.

please note any added red line to this bunch of stuff - - I'll add key facts from author writer's work to this as the story goes. . .like a cheat sheet.

Please double check your chapter numbers when submitting your story. Thanks - Red. :) :)

If you wish to submit early let me know and I can change the schedule to reflect that. With the stories jumping back and forth through time, if you submit early isn't a big issue, just please let me know if you do, or if you can't reach the schedule date.

Her Limits and some things she can do:

  • She's pretty much a slave with powers of a Genie and once the person loses the ring, they lose her.
  • We'll travel through time and space.
  • CAN'T alter major historical events.
  • She can't make anyone fall in love.
  • Can't bring back the dead, but if there is one breath left in the body, she can heal them.
  • A Genie only knows as much as they have seen, been taught, or are allowed through the powers of the rules/laws written long ago.

How does one lose her:

  • Lose the ring, have it stolen, and lie to her, ask for a wish she can't do. (the ones where she'd break the rules)
  • Lieing to her makes the ring disappear, into time or across space, up to the writer.
  • So lieing to her means the ring disappears, where it goes in time or space is up to you the writer.
  • Rules can not be revealed unless the Master/Mistress asks about them, or if the Genie likes a Master/Mistress, they can reveal them

Summening her:

  • Twisting the ring counter-clockwise by accident, and twisting it while whispering her name on purpose.
  • Laresa must recouperate inside the ring sometimes, when she becomes exhausted.
  • She is invisible to all, unless her Master/Mistress deems her visible. So far this has been implied in some stories.

Death/Freedom of a Genie & other oddities:

(this is a new category - - so it is open to discussion.)

  • A Genie doesn't know how they are ultimately set free.
  • A Master/Mistress can not "wish" their genie free.
  • Death of a genie - the destruction of the home (ring, bottle, medallion, bracelet. . .whatever they live in)
  • No more than two genies per Master/Mistress
  • Wishes that involve the actual desire of a Genie transcend from Master/Mistress throughout the genie's life.
  • Wishes made by Masters/Mistresses transcend through time also. (Ones that effect the Master/Mistress directly as well as the world itself.

  • [*]Characters in the stories can not wish yourself to be a Genie - So there are no new Genies at this time.

  • The Genies all came from Laresa's People and were created by Shaman's (obviously the most skilled of the people) - Through sacrifices that were outlined in Tseranc's chapter 3.

Anything else we can think of we can post here and I'll add.

I got this today on one of the chapters of my Miranda and the Prince story. But it made sense that it could get asked on these chapters also.

Say, What happens when Braden and Miranda give the ring to Laresa??

That should give her command of herself? And she can wish to be 'whole' again?

That's simple enough, it has to be a *mortal* that has the ring in order to command her. So long as she's still bound to the ring, she's more or less immortal and outside the normal bounds of space/time.

Those who created them would have made it very difficult for the genie to get free, and something so simple as being able to gain possession of their home would certainly have been accounted for.

She's always with her ring. I assume in this case she meerly "dissolves into the ring and it disappears?" You bring up a good question and one I hadn't thought of. But given that the person would give the ring to her, it wouldn't shock them for it to simply disappear.

My thoughts...she gets her energy from the ring, her power from the ring, which is why if the ring is destroyed, she dies. The energy that the ring has comes from ther person whose finger it is on. It doesn't take enough to drain anyone, we don't have a psychotic ring or anything, but if there is not finger to be on, then there isn't enough energy for her to leave the ring.

Explains where the constant power comes from for her powers...does that work?

eta, which is why if the ring is taken from a finger, she disappears into it. That way it can't just be handed to her.

Sounds good. :)

Ok, my chapter is done. I think.

But I do need someone to check, at least for my abuse of the English language.
Any volunteers?

It's turned into a violent chapter with little sex.

:D
