Rules Of The Living (Closed)

She looked at him and it and heard what he asked her, she nodded she had learned that. Sighing a bit she rubbed her head. "Yeah I learned that when I was in Lee's group, we were at a motel for some time and it worked pretty well. But while Lee was out looking for food there was a hunter trap that a band teacher was in. It was rigged so it was impossible to remove his leg. So Lee cut him out, due to his age he died and he came back and was never bitten. That actually is where I almost got bitten myself."

Sighing a bit she knew there was no threat she looked at him and saw the smile. "But I was always sure to keep my skin covered up. " She said simply and looked at him and had an idea to make him feel good. Since she could tell there was no one around, she made sure of that. "Someone asked me if I had a boyfriend when we were separated. I said no but there was a hope that once we got together we would be" She squeezed his shoulder. With a very loving smile.

"Hell even wrote a song about the first time I knew I was in love with you" She chuckled

"Yeah?" Daryl's tone was playfully rhetorical. "There's a song about me?" He slung the crossbow of her shoulder and stepped closer to Eden. "If it means anything drew a picture of you." By 'draw' Daryl was probably talking about carving or scratching something into a surface with the tip of a knife. He took her shoulders and kissed her briefly... mostly because he needed to check the fuel.

She smiled seeing the way he looked at her and felt his hands on her shoulders as she relaxed and when he kissed her she returned the kiss and when it broke she chuckled. And checking to make sure it was still safe a melody escaped her lips as she sang the song to him.

I threw a wish in the well,
Don't ask me, I'll never tell
I looked to you as it fell,
and now you're in my way
I trade my soul for a wish,
pennies and dimes for a kiss
I wasn't looking for this,
but now you're in my way
Your stare was holdin', Ripped jeans, skin was showin'
Hot night, wind was blowin'
Where you think you're going, baby?

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

It's hard to look right,
at you baby,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

And all the other boys,
try to chase me,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

You took your time with the call,
I took no time with the fall
You gave me nothing at all,
but still, you're in my way
I beg, and borrow and steal
Have foresight and it's real
I didn't know I would feel it,
but it's in my way
Your stare was holdin', Ripped jeans, skin was showin'
Hot night, wind was blowin'
Where you think you're going, baby?

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

It's hard to look right,
at you baby,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

And all the other boys,
try to chase me,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
I missed you so bad
I missed you so, so bad

Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
And you should know that
I missed you so, so bad

It's hard to look right,
at you baby,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

And all the other boys,
try to chase me,
but here's my number,
so call me, maybe?

Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
I missed you so bad
I missed you so so bad

Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
And you should know that

So call me, maybe?"

Call Me Maybe

Daryl watched over his shoulder, smiling then stopped the fuel and capped the over sized glass jug. Standing he held the can away from both he and Eden then pulled her in for another kiss. This time he didn't have to worry about the time it took and allowed the kiss to grow long and deep. His body stirred but he knew they didn't have a lot of time right now.

"Come on." He finally said, taking her hand. "Watch my back." Carrying several gallons of fuel was hard enough, but to hold on to Eden made aiming with a cross bow especially difficult.

When they got to the SUV Glenn was going to use for his run, Daryl went through a process of pouring the jug of fuel into a smaller gas can that had a rag over the nozzle. This was to keep as much sediment out of it as possible. When that was done the rag was replaced by long nozzle that had it's own rag on it, to filter sediment even further. "No smokin'" Daryl playfully reminded Eden.

This process continued three more time until they were done and the cans were stored. "While I wash up a bit, you should find us some wire. I would like to get my belt back."

Eden watched out for him watching his back while she did the exact same thing, she loved him very much and when he suggested she find something while he washed up she grinned though. "Oh I dunno babe I think you look good dirty" She grinned and kissed his cheek, thinking for a moment as she began to look around for something, she wasn't far away from him she found a wire that looked strong enough and thought she heard something so made her way back.

But something bad happened she saw a walker "DARYL!" She took off running very quickly and would not lose the man she loved and the only man who loved her, as she ran she needed higher ground so she managed to climb up onto a car, taking out the knife he had given her and while she did a back flip off the back of the SUV she threw the knife. The walker falling to her feet the second her feet hit the ground. Taking out the knife she panted big time.

"Let's get the hell out of here baby"

Daryl's own knife was in his hand, eyes wide in surprise but focused on Eden. "Damn? When did you get all super hero and shit? Like, Batgirl or somethin'." He smiled, and moved with her stopping along a side of the build. "Wait. Here." He snatched up some thick wire coated in blue plastic. He might never learn this was used for connecting computers to network switches but he did know it was like a telephone wire, only thicker. People would have a hell of a time chewing through telephone wire so this would work. "C'mon. We gotta get that fence mended then tell Rick they're still gettin' in somehow."

She smiled at his comment and nodded when he said they had to get going, so running to the wall and held it together so he could fix it. Her eyes looking around she had a feeling she might know but had to talk about it first with the guys. "As for how I got good well, I did a lot of gymnastics in school so I just combined doing it and hunting. That was why I was the most trusted with the little girl I was in the last group with. If I hadn't had to find you I would of stayed, but since I had you in my life I left. But if there is a map of the area of this place I think I can help you on where they are coming from"

Daryl shook his head, "Ain't really a map. Making one might be a smart idea, but for now we just kinda know where to go." He gestured for her to follow. "Best I figure, we just go through the areas we know are clear and make sure the doors are still secure. Truth is, we only know about half the prison. The other half is over run."

The first stop, however, was to get Daryl's belt.

She walked back to the fence and looked at him "I can take care of this you just keep a look out" She said softly. And right now? everything seemed really nice and it was different to feel so much love. Taking out his belt she began to thread the whole closed with the wire, she ended up cutting her hand but she had felt worse and got it closed. Looking up at him she smiled a little bit. Taking something out of her pocket she wrapped up her hand and smiled a little bit. "We are all set baby"

Sighing a little bit she began to wonder if this was a good idea. but now? she did not seem to give a shit. She wondered if she would end up seeing Merile again since she knew he was very much alive. But smiling she could not help but feel really happy about all this, and now? she was happy. And looked out "Good to know you guys know the place so well, though I think I may know how they are getting in. Most prisons are the same if there is some kind of water source they could be getting in it"

Thinking for a moment and right now? She was just so unsure about anything it was almost hard to think, and now? There was nothing more she could do. "Oh and before I forget I do have something for you, kinda stupid really. It's the end of the world zombies all over and I was thinking of your birthday" She chuckled. "It's back at the prison, though I think you probably got a gift already" She grinned she was talking about when they made love that was amazing.

She wished they could just do it here but knew not what lurked here, but something was off and she stopped Daryl. The wind shifted in a way that wasn't right, Eden had a gift when it came to hunting due to Daryl and his brother, kneeling down and felt the ground. Perhaps it was the Indian in her she didn't know, she heard something quickly. With things shifting she knew all to well something was coming for them, and hoped to god she could do something.

"We need to get back to the prison something is very wrong.."

Daryl smirked at her comment about him getting a gift. He looped his fingers into her belt and pulled her to him before letting his hand slip further down the front of her pants. "Shit. If I remember correctly, you were getting quite the gift yourself." He bit his lip and for a moment he looked as if he might take her right then and there.

His senses sharpened just a hair after Eden's, but unlike her he could only recover his hand and ready his cross bow. He wasn't sure what was wrong, where it was or what to aim for. All the hunter in him knew was that "prey" was nearby. It was that same kind of sixth-sense that drew his attention to a bush a rabbit was under or pause to look and find a squirrel along a tree.

When Eden said something was wrong at the prison he snatched up the gas can and raced to follow her.

She had smiled at Daryl and kissed him deeply and returned the kiss, it felt amazing just how much she loved him. But now wasn't the time sadly "You are right I did get my birthday gift early" she said happily and was glad they didn't have to worry about her getting pregnant, she wanted kids sure but it wasn't meant to be. As she went running she knew all to well what may happen and she wouldn't allow it. The people she stayed with meant a lot to her, more so was the kid and Daryl that she knew.

Soon getting in they had been over run, when she got in she noticed Hershel was in danger. She wasn't able to save his son she would be damned if she let him die to. Grabbing her knife she went full speed ahead. Thrusting her knife into there necks in a way that would remove there heads . Right now things were difficult and she managed to get in front of Hershel and closed her eyes, she took another knife from her boot. Twirling each in her fingers with much skill, like she had been born for this.

Soon the zombies kept at it so she kicked a few to the ground, she spun around quickly as she attacked them. One zombie grabbed her arm and bit into it, she cried out more from surprise then anything. She was glad her body was protected by what they were, after five minutes she panted a little bit. "I wasn't able to help your son, I will be damned if I let you die" She said looking at Hershel. "Are you okay?" She asked concerned since she looked at Hershel as a father figure.

Daryl could do little but fire a few bolts and then move in with this long knife. He wasn't as quick as Eden, and his bow made him even slower. He didn't even really see what was happening until it was too late.

As Eden checked on Herschel he locked both crutches under one arm and put his weight on his remaining leg. "Never mind me, child. Let's check that arm of yours."

Daryl felt jolt of fear drop down into him, "Something happen to your arm?" The last thing he wanted to do was loose Eden. Not now. Not this soon.

She loved the thrill of battle because she was the kind of girl that knew how to handle herself, her father being in the military helped her out a lot. Right now however everything just seemed so different, and sighing a little bit she smiled at Hershel and heard what he said. And then there came Daryl and heard what he said and in that moment she was far from worried. Looking at the way that Daryl looked at her she could tell he was terrified. And looking down at her arm she just smiled a little.

"Yes but I am fine" She pulled up her sleeve showing her whole arm was protected by some kind of special fabric. Removing that she showed the arm no bite marks not even a scratch on her and looked up. "Long time ago when my father was in the service the troops had this protecting there body, helps to defend yourself. It was tested before I even put it on, so I am okay. Being in this world I have grown much smarter" She placed her hand on Daryl's face and could not help but smile.

Daryl's face lit up bright with both Pride and excitement. "Fuckin, kevlar!" He pointed and smiled happily. "That's some smart shit! We need some of that!" He was so happy he grabbed Eden's face with both hands and kissd her.

Herschel wasn't as ready to put his faith in this and continued to examine the sleeve Eden had games him. "Well I don't know if we can just find us an army store that hasn't been raided."

"Nah, man. Those things are used by mechanic shops too. We can make a run to Jiify Lube or somethin."

She smiled she loved it when his face light up with happiness and excitement it was really cute. And when he put her face in his hands, and kissed her. She returned the kiss wrapping her arms around him and enjoying the moment of being intimate it made everything that much more wonderful and now? She was just happy. When the kiss broke she heard what he said and chuckled a little bit thinking for a moment. And remembered she had a few her father gave her it was more then enough for who was left.

"Actually you wont have to make a run I have a few enough for our group to wear" She said with a big grin on her face.

Herschel made an effort to look like he'd been focused on the kevlar sleeve this whole time. When Eden spoke he smiled and handed it back to her, "Well. You've come a long way since we first met."

Daryl's brow knitted, "You two know each other?"

Herschel moved his crutches so they could be under each arm again and nodded, "I didn't want to say much because... well, Glen doesn't know what happened there. Never had it in me to say much." He focused on Daryl, "It was before you met us. Before... the barn." It was a dark time for Herschel and he clearly didn't want to dwell on much more.

"Yeah. Not something you forget."

Herschel shook his head and turned to go back to the main part of the prison, "No, it's not. But you find a way to move on. I have Glen now and I'm thankful for the family I still have." He smiled to Eden, "And it's still growing. Growth is life." as he walked he cast his voice over his shoulder, to Eden. "I take it you got separated from Lee and Kenny? I hope it was on your terms."

Eden smiled at Herschel and heard what Daryl said "yes we know each other, I was with Lee at the time we had just met and my focus was on getting to you. We were a group that stayed at the farm for a day, Herschel's son was building a wall to try and keep the walkers out. But Kenny's son Duck was on the tracker while his son worked on the fence, but he got grabbed by a walker, both the boys were in trouble, Lee went for Duck when I went for his son. I tried so damn hard to get his leg free."

Looking down she could still hear his screams for help "I wasn't strong enough and he died, he died because of me. I know it was Kenny and Lee's fault but still, every day I live with that guilt that I was useless. So I vowed to become a better hunter, to use the skills I already had to do some good. He told me I could stay with him and I almost did, but Lee had a little girl and with Duck. I felt I had to go to protect the kids." She said simply and looked back at Hershel. Squeezing his shoulder.

"Hershel is very much my father figure, and as for Lee he ended up getting bitten and Clem made sure he couldn't hurt her against her will of course. He cut his hand off but it was already to late. Once I knew Clem was safe I side tracked and managed to find you." She said with a kind smile on her face. "I am just sorry Hershel I didn't stay if I had maybe you wouldn't have lost your leg" She said softly. "But I am grateful when I left we were on good terms, is good to see you again" She smiled.

"Clementine." The word fell off Herschel's tongue as if he'd just remembered it. "Yeah, I remember her hat. Feels like it was a lifetime ago but it's been barely a year."

He started walking again and laughed a bit, "You know, Eden? When I started waking up I knew Rick had taken my leg but I was just glad to see Maggie again. I was glad to have my life. I'm glad you made sure Clementine was safe. If it cost me my leg, then it's a small price to pay."

"Damn Herschel." Daryl laughed a bit as he slipped his cross bow over one shoulder, "You're probably the second toughest son of a bitch I've known."

She smiled and nodded "I had to kill both my parents, I have had to do a lot. Poor Clem found her parents they had been dead for some time, moving around as zombies had to really be it. I know the two people I left her with Omid and Christa will take very good care of her, though I think Christa is pregnant, but she is healthy so I am sure it will be okay. That is if she is pregnant mind you, for the hope of all man kind hope she wasn't. This is no world to raise a baby, though Rick's daughter was a miracle"

Walking beside Herschel she could not help but smile "I have had two men in my life for some time, which are the two of you, a father figure and my new boyfriend Daryl" She nudged him happily.

Herschel laughed lightly, "Well if I'm officially taking you in as one of my girls then I need to sit Daryl down for a one of my fatherly speeches."

Daryl just laughed, "Did Glen have to sit through one of these speeches?"

"As a matter of fact, he did." Herschel smiled. "I'll give you short version. Don't care how many walkers you've killed or times you saved my life. You break her heart I'll have to kick your behind with my one good leg."

Daryl put an arm around Eden, "I don't think we'll have to worry about that much."

She smiled at Herschel and knew he was serious "Actually I know Glen he was with us for a very short time before he went to Atlanta to find his friends" She was glad that he was so kind and she chuckled with what he was saying to her. But she felt an arm wrap around her and grinned a little bit as she rested her head against his chest. Thinking about how crazy everything was, and yet it was just kinda hard to think. Looking up at Daryl she kissed him with much love and looked back at Herschel.

"I have known Daryl for many years, I met him when I was a little girl, well if you consider tweleve a little girl. But thanks...dad" She said with love in her voice.

Hearing that she'd met Glen he thought about that for a moment. "Small world, after all." Herschel then chuckled a bit when she asked if 12 was still little, "From a father's perspective, his daughters are always little girls. She can be 30 with a husband and two kids, but she's still a little girl in his mind." He picked up the pace a bit, now that it seems the important parts of the conversations were over and moving into lighter tones.

Daryl didn't match Herschel's new pace, and lowered his voice a bit, "Damn. So you met Glen too? Anyone else you run into? Maybe a blonde woman named Andrea?" His tone was light and humorous, but his words were colored with a man's need to know. It had been a while since they'd been separated and he wondered what had happened to her at that farm.

She chuckled "Yeah it was after I left your far in Macon, since he was born and raised there. And I had never been there before" Sighing a little bit as she heard what Herschel said about husband and kids. "Yeah well sadly I can't have children. I mean its a good thing I can't have them in this world, but I only felt like half a woman since I can't have them" She shrugged a little bit, she took Daryl by the hand. She loved him so much it was amazing how much she did love him, it felt very nice to her.

"My ability was lost when I was into a car accident, I had known Daryl a good four years by then. I had been hit by a drunk driver my father was driving, mom in the passenger seat and we felt a powerful jolt and at first I felt nothing, but then when I looked down I could see blood. A piece of metal from the trunk some how went through and got me right in the gut, I almost lost my life, yet I had Daryl to fight for you k now?" Thankfully the scar had vanished so it did not show up, it was nice.

Herschel smiled and used a crutch to open the next prison gate. "Well, we're lucky you did. Now that you have him, you can fight for us."

The day continued with out much more incident. Glenn and Maggie were getting ready for their run into town and he thought it was as good a time as any to talk to Eden.

"Hey, Eden, you got a sec?"

She smiled at him and nodded "If I had stayed I would have Daryl sooner, but I like to think I grew up a lot since this shit happened" She said happily and looked up at Glenn and Maggie, hearing her name she nodded and kissed Daryl on the cheek. Walking over to the two she smiled at them. "What's up you to, and I have to say Glenn glad you going back for your friends, you stayed alive' She chuckled and didn't know if Glenn would remember her. "Everything okay?"
