Did everyone forget the whole Rosie & Madonna as lovers thing that went on for a while in the 90's? If you don't remember that, then here's more news for ya - Sandra Bernhardt (sp?) also prefers women... and Roseanne has experimented but tends to prefer men...

Now the real question is, why should or do any of us really care?

Oh, and Rosie's not the biggest fan of Tom Selleck... more news of the weird.

Already I'm starting to hear the murmurs in the news about it. I can see that I'm going to have to not watch the TV for about week. <sigh>

Hmm...I guess I should explain a bit. I really don't care who is gay and who isn't. People are black, red, white, blonde, brunette, red-headed, gay, straight, or both. It's not a big deal. I'm tired of it being one. If you're gay, that's cool. If you're my friend, it's a nice thing for me to know. If I want to date you, I should probably get some clue about it. Otherwise, hush.

A public coming out day? Oh holy crap.

I think the whole thing is underwhelming because while we haven't known that Rosie was gay, there has always been strong suspicion. The exact same way there was with Ellen. Remember when Ellen came out? People had known she was gay for six months at least. Her announcement was less of a surprise(As, say, it would be if colin powell came out) as it was a confirmation of what we had all heard and expected.

The same applies to Rosie. I remember a particularly mean spirited Mad TV sketch where they "hinted" that Rosie was gay almost two years ago. If this was a secret, then it was the worst kept secret in hollywood.

I saw pictures in a gay magazine of her at concert. It was the lesbian band Bitch and Animal... And she was sitting next to Winona Ryder... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I guess living a lifetime in NYC has opened me up to a lot of "different" combinations of couples. It has also allowed me to be witness to celebrities (many before they became "stars" in the media) being "out" on the town, and feeling comfortable with their dates and/or mates. (No, I will not name names!)

It has never been a secret to the theatre community that Rosie was gay. So she talks about her kids and doesn't talk about "dating". So she has a crush on Tom Cruise (and what's HIS story! LOL). Big deal. Rosie has opened up Broadway theatre recognition to a lot of the country because of her show. She personally is THERE every year at the Shubert Alley BC/EFA flea market.

It's sad for me to see celebrities forced to "come out" in any direction for the sake of publicity.

Do any of you get misclassifed because of your choices in life? Hopefully there will come a day when none of this will matter to anyone.

The only question I have, and I think this is on the minds of many of the people who this will matter to, is why not come out much sooner and become a positive role model in a community that, as far as I understand it, needs more role models?

I don't think a lot of people are interested so they can start boycotting her show(Her show always had a left wing slant of sorts from what I hear) they're just interested because they're interested in the personal lives of celebrities. Rosie profits off that fact on a daily basis.

Personally, I don't think much of anyone cares about Rosie O'Donnell's sexuality. But it does seem coincidental that just as her show is on it's last legs and she is hunting up her next gig, she gets this big publicity bonanza.
