He said he had to go and meet a client but he would be spending the travelling time listening to the news updates about the thread he was involved in.

How many of us are out doing our usual every day things, looking as normal as the next person but inside we're muttering to ourselves...

"I've got to get back to Lit and reply to that jumped up idiot..." or

"That's it! That's a thread subject that'll get them all going..." or

"God, I should have said that, not what I did say, God..." or

"I'll put my problem on Lit. Somebody'll know the answer..."

I know I sometimes do. Unbidden Lit leaps into my mind at the most peculiar times...

P-Man,
I do all those things, but I am also relatively new here and the boards are like a new christmas toy for me. I have a lot of experience on BB's though, and unlike a kid who will become bored with the toy a few weeks after christmas, I think I will be hooked for a very long time.

Yes, Lit often gets me to think with a perspective that I hadn't considered before. Often I find myself researching issues in my "off" time or maybe an article in the paper catches my attention when it normally would not have.

i do occasionally think about something going on with this lit friend or that but seldom about what i should have posted or how i should have answred someone.

i do find it interesting that in real life when i'm having a discussion with someone on something of current interest i wonder whether or not it would make a good thread here. we all have points of reference that are formed throughout our lives (childhood, teenage, marriage, etc.) that have an impact on how we think today and i guess lit is just another of those.

who'd a thunk it?

This is a real community for all intents and purposes. We have those that are our friends, even counting those that we spend most of our time debating with.

I find it quite natural for thoughts of the people here to cross our minds from time to time during the course of a day.

A news event, or some other subject strikes a chord with what is under discussion, or something that we want to discuss. This is a medium of corrspondence, communication and that's what we humans do. We communicate.

Something else I've done.

When I've had a conversation with someone and I get exasperated I've said "You sound just like (enter your own name of a Lit member)", only to be brought back to the real world when the person I'm speaking to says...

"Who?"

Ah well...

:)
