I was a fifth-grade spelling bee champ also, but then realized that girls who were just starting to have boobs weren’t all that much into the guy who could spell “disestablishmentarianism.” Had to work harder at basketball. Wasn’t much good at that, either, but at least I got to ride home with the cheerleaders.
