It looks like it would work fine to me, PM if you need any help, I do web work and support for a living, so I could most likey help you with any graphics type questions )probably in general computer as well)

Enlarging pictures for an avatar seldom produces as clear an avatar as reducing an image does.

If you have, or can find a version of that image that is larger than the 150x150x20Kb limits for an avatar, you'll get a better image when you resize it.

The reason is, that to enlarge an image, your image software has to "make up" information to fill out the larger image. When shrinking an image, the software has several existing pixels it can average out to build the new smaller image.
