Republicans

Rick Wilson: Only ‘conspiracy-crazed Boomer rubes’ will support the GOP now — here’s why

Conservative political strategist Rick Wilson has written a scathing obituary for his one-time party in which he predicts that embracing QAnon will become the new litmus test for Republican candidates.

Writing in The Daily Beast, Wilson begins by discussing the victory of Marjorie Taylor Greene, a conspiracy theory-spouting candidate in Georgia who appears destined to be the first follower of QAnon to be elected to Congress.

After describing Greene as “crazier than a sh*thouse rat,” Wilson argues that her political rise is a symptom of a Republican Party that has come to rely wholly on the alternative realities created by right-wing media fever swamps.

“The only safe path for Republican elected officials is to tell Trump his ass smells like ambrosia and nod eagerly when frothy, wild-eyed lunatics assert that JFK Jr. survived the crash just to save the chilllllldren,” he writes. “This is the future Republicans have bought with their dumb alliance with Donald Trump.”

Republicunts sink their own party for the short term advantage of their donor class.

Kanye Went To Jared

Awwwww, Kanye West found a friend to help him through whatever it is he's going through, and it is Jared Kushner, awwwwww:

President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, met privately last weekend with Kanye West, the rapper who has filed petitions to get on the November ballots for president in several states.

The meeting took place in Colorado, where Mr. Kushner was traveling with his wife, Ivanka Trump, those familiar with the meeting said. Mr. West had been camping in Colorado with his family, and afterward flew to Telluride to meet with Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump ...

Yeah OK fuck off.

We have no idea what they talked about, but we bet it had something to do with Kanye's Trump/Republican-fueled campaign to get on the ballot wherever he can. We don't know why Kanye wants to do this, but we know why Trump and Republicans want to do this. They think Black people are just egregiously stupid, and will vote for the rapping man instead of Joe Biden, thus hopefully slicing away at Biden's leads. And maybe Kanye thinks that too. The Times reports that he's been repeating right-wing anti-abortion vomit about "abortion rates among Black women," and in an interview with Forbes, Kanye seemed well aware that he's doing this to hurt Joe Biden.

Stupid Trumpublicunts doing stupid things stupidly!:D:D

Experts weigh in on Trump’s chances of going to jail

New York has a real chance at putting Trump behind bars. The state has jurisdiction over most of his properties and operations relating to his 2016 presidential campaign. Crucially, states also are not subject to the U.S. Department of Justice’s rule that a sitting president may not be prosecuted for federal crimes. Trump, therefore, is stripped of his four-year kryptonite shield if he is re-elected. A state indictment of a sitting president, though historically unprecedented, is entirely possible. His DOJ-Roy Cohn, Bill Barr, is constitutionally powerless to intervene.

That should make Trump uneasy, especially as New York Attorney General Letitia James ramps up her own investigations. “We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family,” she declared after taking office two years ago.

At the same time, Vance’s subpoena appears to go beyond obtaining financial records relating to alleged pre-election hush money payments to silence two women, Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Both of the women claim to have had affairs with Trump. Information gleaned from the DA’s inquiry could expose tax cheating and money laundering as well as bank and insurance fraud, which are felonies.

The GOP’s silence on Trump’s Kamala Harris birther attack will haunt them for years: CNN analyst

Taking his cue from a highly criticized Newsweek column that suggested that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) might not be legally eligible to serve as vice president, Donald Trump gave it some credence on Thursday — and that could be damaging to Republicans if they remain silent and don’t push back, wrote a CNN political analyst.

According to CNN’s Chris Cillizza, the president has reached into his 2016 “birther” playbook to attack Harris because he seemed unprepared for her candidacy and, after being criticized for playing the birther card on former President Barack Obama, it’s not going to fly with a public that has grown wise to his racist attacks.

Writing that the real story will end up being “the silence of the Republican establishment and its elected leaders” the analyst added, “it’s that silence, and the tacit acceptance that ‘Trump is Trump,’ that will define the GOP long after Trump leaves office — whether involuntarily in 2021 or four years later. The willingness to simply swallow known falsehoods or dismiss them with a ‘I didn’t see the President’s remarks’ or ‘I’m sorry, I have to get to a meeting’ is what will, ultimately, do the lasting damage for a Republicans.”

Saying that failure to adhere to basic principles is “how party die,”Cillizza wrote the Republican Party has lost all credibility since it became “a cult of personality” surrounding Trump.

“Its devotion to balanced budgets and reducing the debt load on future generations? Gone. Its commitment to block attempts by a president to run the country by executive orders and end-runs around Congress? Gone. Its fealty to family values, as it relates to marriage and extramarital affairs? Gone. Its support for international trade agreements? Gone,” he charged.

Mitch and Co have written the obituary of the GOP! :)

‘This is a RICO case’: Top Obama advisor urges Dems to ‘go to war for our country’ over Trump USPS attack

Trump on Thursday at least twice admitted his goal in blocking funding for the USPS is to stop Americans from voting by mail during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We’ve never needed Democrats in Congress more than we do now,” David Plouffe writes. “The whole enterprise is on the line. The Biden campaign has no oversight or fiscal power. Neither does the press. Letters, statements, outrage are not enough. Time to go to the mattresses. Now.”

Trump has also installed a Postmaster General with massive conflicts of interests who is literally dismantling major elements of the nation’s postal system, including removing hundreds of mail sorting machines, removing mailboxes, and banning overtime – all of which have slowed mail delivery, according to some, by weeks.

Sabotaging the only agency that can safely deliver our ballots during the worst pandemic in over 100 years isn't just cheating. IT'S FUCKING EVIL!

I'd love to know whom they intend to replace McCarthy with if they feel he's too close to Trump. Everyone else in the leadership is, if anything, more right-wing than McCarthy!

Trump is using Bush’s torture lawyer’s playbook to break laws at will: report

Trump’s efforts to evade the legal and constitutional limits on his authority have gone beyond just absurdity, and have begun to gravely threaten the government and the nation.”

“Trump’s efforts to evade constitutional checks and balances threatens to work a disaster this summer, as the nation stands at the abyss of a depression and is in the grip of a public health catastrophe,” he explained. “Enter Berkeley Law School professor John Yoo, who came to prominence during the Bush administration for authoring the notorious Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel memoranda opining that the CIA could legally torture prisoners in American custody.”

As Lurie points out, Yoo inserted himself into Trump’s controversies with a recent article positing that presidents do not necessarily have to obey the law.

Trump officials could face criminal charges for USPS sabotage — and the president may not be able to pardon them

Members of the Trump administration could face legal jeopardy over efforts to sabotage U.S. Postal Service operations to interfere with the 2020 presidential elections.

“Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) made a criminal referral to the New Jersey Attorney General on Friday night, asking him to impanel a grand jury to look at possible breach of state election laws by President Trump, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and others for ‘their accelerating arson of the post office,’ he said. Alarming headlines have emerged in recent days as many states prepare to facilitate widespread mail balloting due to the coronavirus pandemic. President Trump openly admitted he was withholding federal aid from the postal service to prevent mail-in voting, and USPS has notified 46 states and D.C. that it will struggle to deliver some mail ballots on time,” The Daily Beast reported Friday.

If DeJoy or others were charged in New Jersey for state crimes, Trump could not pardon them as his power only applies to federal crimes.

And New Jersey isn’t the only state investigating the possible violations of the law.

In Arizona, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs on Friday wrote a letter to state Attorney General Mark Brnovich, asking him to investigate whether crimes have been committed.

America is experiencing the first ever “criminal presidency”.

Even before America’s national election in 2016, Donald Trump had been caught breaking the law many times. Trump scammed thousands of Americans out of millions of dollars with his “Trump University” and was sued for fraud, Trump also scammed customers out of millions of dollars with his “Trump Ocean Resort” and he was sued for fraud, he has been sued thousands of times by contractors for breach of contract when they did work for Trump, but then Trump refused to pay them.

Over the decades Trump has left long lines of angry customers, contractors and vendors who have been cheated and defrauded by him.

So, even BEFORE the 2016 election, we knew that Trump was a criminal, but millions of Americans voted for him anyway.

And during the past two years, we’ve seen Trump incite violence against Mexicans, against journalists, against Hillary Clinton, against Christine Blasey Ford and others. We’ve also seen him flagrantly violate the emoluments clause and use the White House as a tool to funnel money into his family’s business interests.

There is also evidence (currently being looked into) that Trump has engaged in money laundering.

Much more recently; in April of 2019, a redacted version of the Mueller report was released which gives voice to other crimes committed by Trump, including obstruction of justice and witness tampering.

And yet millions of Americans still support Trump. They’ve been brainwashed into believing that he’s a victim and they identify and live vicariously through each criminal act Trump commits, almost as if each unpunished crime was their own personal victory over the establishment.

Ever since the Civil War, there have been millions of Americans who are willing to place law-breakers up on a pedestal. This is especially true in the South, where they have spent decades resenting "the North" and "the Feds" for daring to outlaw slavery, outlaw segregation, get rid of poll taxes, get rid of the Jim Crow laws, pass the Voting Rights Act, pass the Civil Rights Act and prosecute the KKK and other right-wing terrorists for lynching black people, burning down black churches, killing civil rights leaders etc.

In states like Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia, they somehow think that white men who can no longer own slaves or legally kill entire black families are the victims of white liberals who live in the North and don't understand "the Southern way of life".

Laws passed by the federal government keep them from living the sort of lives they want to live, so now they see the liberals in Congress, Democratic presidents, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals the Justice Department, and anybody else who enforces the law to be "the enemy".
Seeing white men like Donald Trump, Brian Kemp, Roy Moore, Mitch McConnell and Bill O’Reilly break the law and get away with it, allows them to feel like they've scored some sort of indirect win over those damn "Northern liberals".

And these are not one or two bad apples. There are MILLIONS of Americans who support criminals in this country, just so long as the criminals are white and hate the same people that they hate. As further evidence of this claim, I present to you polling data which shows that 77 percent of Trump voters believe Trump should remain in office even if it’s proven that Trump conspired with the Russians to secretly manipulate the 2016 election.

By my math, that means that more than 48 million Americans would support a (white supremacist) criminal who conspired with a foreign enemy to thwart the will of the American voters.

Or to put it another way, it means 48 million criminal accomplices.

How are we supposed to run a fully-functioning democracy when we have more than 48 million Americans with no respect for the laws that are the basis of our democracy?

The difference between rich Republicans and wealthy Democrats:

Rich Republicans: DON'T RAISE MY TAXES!

Wealthy Democrats: You want to raise my taxes, fine. But you want to touch my war profits? Oh, look, there's a guy saying something horrible on Twitter!

(Slinks away with the war profits while your back is turned.)

The hobbling of the United States Postal Service to rig the November election is also causing immense collateral damage. Delays in mail delivery hurt people on medications, in need of paychecks and pension checks to pay the rent and of legions of small business owners to ship goods to customers. Many of those suffering are Trump supporters so his scheme is unlikely to win more votes..

Morning Joe ridicules Susan Collins after Trump makes her look like a fool again

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) — along with several other GOP lawmakers — was raked over the coals by MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough on Monday morning for their part in leaving Donald Trump in office, which his critics claim has now led to him trying to steal the November election by trying to cripple the Post Office.

Using the president’s own words last Friday that he was withholding funds from the USPS in order to disrupt mail-in voting, the MSNBC host reminded the Maine Republican of her comments after the president’s Senate impeachment trial. Collins had remarked that Trump had “learned his lesson.”

Trumpster is incapable of learning, he is not normal!

Trump has ‘obliterated’ his own case as he wreaks havoc on his fellow Americans: conservative columnist

Writing in the Washington Post this Monday, columnist Jennifer Rubin says that President Trump has adopted the strategy of trying to show how chaotic, dysfunctional and dangerous things have become, in the hope that it will scare voters into reelecting him.

The U.S. Postal Service is the latest thing Trump is trying to sow fear around.

“In doing so, he sows fear in voters (especially his own) about casting ballots by mail. But recent mail slowdowns caused by policies enacted by the new USPS head — a major Trump donor — can mean disrupted delivery of medicine to veterans and millions who receive prescriptions by mail, unemployment checks to laid-off workers and Social Security checks to retirees,” Rubin writes.

And the Republican Party is directly responsible for his election, destruction, and protection. Hold them responsible in November!:)

Republicans slammed by conservative George Will for buying into Trump’s ‘cult of victimization’

In a long appraisal of the American conservative movement on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” longtime columnist George Will hammered away at his ideological brethren for blindly following Donald Trump and turning to a “cult of victimization” lacking any principles at all.

Sitting in with co-host Joe Scarborough, author Anne Applebaum, and conservative commentator David Frum, the state of conservatives over the past three and a half years was dissected with Will expressing deep disgust at what Trump has done to the Republican Party.

I have great respect for George Will, but don't agree with his politics. However he has principles and the intellect to understand the difference between Republicanism and Trumpism.

“Donald Trump setting out to make America great again, set out to make America more European in the sense it has injected this tribalism and made it normal in our politics,” he elaborated. “This coincided with the fact that a lot of American conservatives are shocked because they are Christians and the society is increasingly secular. Third, American conservatives have bought into the cult of victimization — they like to feel they are put upon by academics, Hollywood, the media and all the rest and they are an embattled minority in their own country. This makes for a very toxic group.”

Trump Is Facing a Nationwide Wave of Backlash Over His Postal Service Sabotage

The New York Times reports that due to mail delays in rural Michigan, diabetes medicine that used to arrive in three days now takes two weeks to arrive.

Veterans Affairs uses USPS to fill about 80 percent of veteran prescriptions, and hundreds of veterans have contacted their senators to report missing prescription deliveries. The delays led former Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré to tell MSNBC that Trump’s attacks on the USPS “have to stop!”

The USPS and its employees have been sounding the alarm. The post office warned that in nearly all 50 states, current mail delays mean ballots may not be received by election offices in time to be counted. Jonathan Smith, president of the New York Metro Area Postal union, told NY1 the delays are due to the actions of DeJoy. “If you were to leave the Postal Service under the exact same conditions Mr. DeJoy found it, using the overtime, using the staff we do have, we would have absolutely no problem delivering on our mission to make sure every ballot is getting back to the election committee on time.”

There have been more calls for investigation from lawmakers, including Sen. Gary Peters (D-Michigan) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts). Peters opened an investigation into the mail delays following DeJoy’s failure to respond to his repeated inquiries. Warren called for the Post Office’s inspector general to investigate changes the USPS has made to slow mail delivery, and highlighted DeJoy’s potential conflicts of interest, including stock in the logistics giant Amazon, which he purchased following his appointment. The Post Office’s inspector general confirmed on Friday that they are reviewing DeJoy’s policy changes.

State lawmakers have also called for local law enforcement to investigate. Arizona’s Secretary of State Katie Hobbs asked their attorney general to investigate whether Trump and DeJoy’s actions violate an Arizona state law that prohibits anyone from knowingly delaying the delivery of a ballot. In New Jersey, Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. made a criminal referral to New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal, asking him to examine whether or not Trump and DeJoy breached state election laws with their actions. Pascrell said, “What trump and his crony are doing is criminal. Period.”
