Pompeo hit with subpoena after he’s caught assisting Senate GOP’s political smear of Biden

According to a press release from the House’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) “issued a subpoena to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as part of the committee’s investigation of his apparent use of Department of State resources to advance a political smear of former Vice President Joe Biden.”

“The subpoena demands all records purportedly dealing with the Bidens and Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings the department has produced to Republican-led Senate committees,” the press release reads. “Despite delivering Republican Senate chairmen thousands of pages of records, the Department of State has refused Chairman Engel’s request to provide duplicates to the Committee on Foreign Affairs. In addition, Chairman Engel’s subpoena seeks internal State Department correspondence about responding to Congress.”

Drive it home, Engle, drive it Home!:)

Republicans who latched onto Trump are preparing to jump because his campaign is ‘dying’: Ex-RNC head

Discussing Donald Trump’s declining poll numbers and his suggestion that the election should be postponed, former Republican National Committee head Michael Steele said it is finally dawning on Republicans who have been backing Trump that he has no chance of winning and it is time to flee the president.

Asked by MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart why some Republicans are still sticking by the president, Steele was first stumped for an answer before making a joke that had the rest of the panel laughing.

“You know, it’s where they’ve always been. you know, underneath Donald Trump’s left cheek. I don’t know. — and that’s butt cheek,” Steele said as his fellow panelists laughed.” Folks made a bargain with the devil and, I think to Tom Nichols’ point [about Republicans acting like remora’s attached to a shark], they’re like ‘that thing is going to stick and stay, we’re just going to ride it.'”

The Bloodhound Gang And The Mystery Of Congressman Cowpies' Hidden DHL Receipt!

Remember that moment in Bill Barr's testimony on Tuesday when Rep. David Cicilline asked if it was "ever appropriate for the president to solicit or accept foreign assistance in an election," and the attorney general of the United States said, "depends what kind of assistance"?

Rep. Cicilline causes Barr to struggle to answer a very basic yes or no question. https:/*******yUGEy2IjDG

That was your none-too-subtle reminder that Donald Trump's re-election strategy involves getting Ukraine to help him smear Joe Biden. He got impeached over it, and yet he persisted. These fuckers are still conspiring with Ukrainian gangsters to concoct dirt on Biden and his son, and if they can ever get half a news cycle that isn't dominated by COVID-19 and the disastrous economy, they'll be back to their old tricks.

So, here are three stories to flag, since Senate Republicans are clearly cooking up an October Surprise in which they will "prove" that Joe Biden somehow helped his son by carrying out the wishes of the EU, IMF, and the entire US government by getting a corrupt Ukrainian prosecutor fired.

Yes, Repug's refuse to let the House see the "evidence" of Democratic bungling, because...????

Senators refuse to show what they received from their Russian-Ukrainian 'Helpers" because...???

Some might question their honesty. If anyone thought they had any.:D:D:D:D

Trump Task Force Plotted To Kill Blue States

Donald Trump's coronavirus task force, lead by Jared Kushner, literally plotted for Americans in blue states to die.

So, Jared Kushner abandoned a national testing plan because it was politically advantageous to sit back and let blue states be eviscerated by the virus.

There’s no “safety net” for Republicans. All but one supported this snake oil salesman and he is selling shit...

These three Republicans are struggling to come up with an excuse for why they were involved in Trump’s Ukraine scandal

Questions keep getting asked!

Amid the flurry of news last week, three Republicans were outed for their involvement in President Donald Trump’s Ukraine scandal that ultimately led to his impeachment. Now it seems they’re either in hiding or they’re staying as quiet as possible hoping the news disappears.

Steve Benen at the “Rachel Maddow Show” wrote Monday that he couldn’t help but notice the sudden silence from these three Republicans.

NYT editorial board slams McConnell for blocking stimulus with ‘political charade’ as he goes on vacation

On Tuesday, The New York Times editorial board tore into Congress for going on vacation while crucial unemployment benefits and stimulus lapsed for millions of Americans.

“Preventing this widespread suffering should be the top priority for lawmakers,” wrote the board. “Instead, the Republican-led Senate dragged its feet for months on another aid package. The Democratic-led House of Representatives passed a $3 trillion relief plan in mid-May. It took until July 27 for the Republican Senate leaders to offer their anemic, $1 trillion counterbid, which everyone seems to have a problem with, albeit for differing reasons.”

In particular, the board focused on the antics of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

“The Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, is engaged in a political charade in which he proclaims himself a hapless bystander, buffeted by the whims of the White House on one side and House Democrats on the other. He is not even attending key meetings between Democratic leaders and the administration’s top negotiators,” wrote the board. “But Mr. McConnell is far from without leverage. He must make clear to his members that they need to compromise and help the millions of their fellow Americans who are stuck in miles-long food lines, a hair’s breadth from eviction, jobless, financially ruined or ill because of this terrible disease. One quick and direct way to send a message: Cancel the Senate’s August recess, or at least postpone it until a deal is reached.”

Moscow Mitch does not care about Americans, unless they are Corporate Donors to His causes. He swore an oath, reneged on it, and dares anyone to hold him responsible for his treason, FACT!

Ron DeSantis admits GOP sabotaged unemployment with ‘pointless roadblocks’ so fewer people would sign up

In an interview with CBS4 Miami’s Jim DeFede, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) admitted that Florida Republicans, led by his predecessor, deliberately crippled the state’s unemployment system so that fewer out-of-work people would apply for benefits.

“Do you believe that the system was in part put together the way it was to discourage people from being able to collect unemployment?” asked DeFede.

“I think that was the animating philosophy,” said DeSantis. “I mean having studied how it was internally constructed, I think the goal was for whoever designed, it was, ‘Let’s put as many kind of pointless roadblocks along the way, so people just say, oh, the hell with it, I’m not going to do that.’ And, you know, for me, let’s decide on what the benefit is and let’s get it out as efficiently as possible. You know, we shouldn’t necessarily do these roadblocks to do it. So we have cleared a lot of those.”

When Rethug's admit they sabotage things you know they are stupid as well as evil, yet they get elected.

Since Donald Trump was sworn into office I've heard Republicans proclaim that collusion isn't a crime, fraud isn't a crime, sexual assault isn't a crime, perjury isn't a crime and lying to the FBI isn't a crime.

Once upon a time, didn't the Republican Party claim to be the Party of Law and Order? How did they become the Party of Obstruction and Cover-Ups?

“The Republican Party has been a cartel,” Stuart Stevens said excitedly. “And no one asks a cartel, ‘What’s your ideological purpose?’ You don’t ask OPEC, ‘What’s your ideology?’ You don’t ask a drug gang, ‘What’s your program?’ The Republicans exist for the pursuit of power for no purpose.”

He huffed that the Republican Party had not merely drifted away from its core positions, as sometimes occurs with political parties: “Fair trade, balanced budgets, character, family values, standing up to foreign adversaries like Russia—we’re all against that now. You have to ask, ‘Does someone abandon deeply held beliefs in three or four years?’ No. It means you didn’t ever hold them.”…

He rejected the common view that Trump had hijacked the GOP. No, he explained, the triumph of know-nothing Trumpism marked the culmination of an internal conflict that had existed for decades between the party’s “dark side” and its professed ideals. Even William F. Buckley Jr., often hailed as a grand public intellectual and the founding father of the modern conservative movement, was “a stone-cold racist” in the 1950s, Stevens pointed out…

“And it’s all about race. The Republican Party is a white party and there still are more white people than non-white people.” So that is whom the party aims at—even if this will eventually be a losing proposition as the nation’s demographics continue to shift.

Presidential corruption is antithetical to our democratic way of life. Trump’s associates and cronies are now convicted felons because of their activities in his administration. Trump himself is an unindicted co-conspirator. He is facing other criminal charges after he leaves office. Criminality in our president chips away at our democracy. It must not be tolerated. Let’s not forget that Trump was impeached in late 2019 for his corrupt behavior.

And should be impeached--on a whole range of obvious offenses--again right before the election.

^^ Oddly enough in this screwed up bassackwards world, that would probably get him enough votes to retain office legally.

Rand Paul: Republicans Should Apologize To Obama For Complaining About His Spending

"I'm very upset with my colleagues," Paul said. "They should apologize now to President Obama for complaining that he was spending and borrowing too much. He was a piker compared to their borrowing that they're doing now."

"They should have to apologize, and they should, by law, be forbidden from ever saying that they're fiscally conservative," Paul added.

"Look at gold. Gold's over $2,000 an ounce," Paul said of the precious metal. "People are worried. The politicians are out here saying, oh, no, we just have to buy more voters by flooding the economy with money."

Trump campaign conspiring with GOP leaders to disrupt the November election: report

"And around the time Trump started musing about delaying the election last week, aides and outside advisers began scrambling to ponder possible executive actions he could take to curb mail-in voting — everything from directing the postal service to not deliver certain ballots to stopping local officials from counting them after Election Day.”

There is no clear legal basis for most of these schemes, as elections are predominantly run at the state level.

Alarm has risen in recent weeks about changes in postal service by the president’s new postmaster general and longtime donor, Louis DeJoy. Under DeJoy’s directive, several senior postal officials have been reassigned or fired, and the postal service has made policy changes that are slowing down delivery.

Kentuckians turn on McConnell as economy implodes: ‘Mitch better have my money’

On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that Kentucky workers and businesses are losing patience with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as their economic prospect worsens.

“About five months after Kentucky reported its first loss of life from covid-19, its economy continues to sputter amid the coronavirus pandemic,” reported Tony Romm. “Many unemployed workers say their benefit checks aren’t enough to afford their bills, and some here simply have stopped looking for jobs. Businesses say they’re also hemorrhaging cash, and local governments fear they’re on the precipice of financial ruin, too.”

“The Kentucky representatives from the AFL-CIO, Teamsters and other labor groups had grown incensed with Mitch McConnell, their home state senator and the chamber’s most powerful lawmaker. For months, they said, he had been blocking much-needed congressional coronavirus aid, the kind of dollars that might help workers and businesses in the Bluegrass State struggling to survive financially,” continued the report. “So they hit the streets on Thursday, drove down to McConnell’s Louisville office and started to circle the block, their 30 or so vehicles plastered with not-so-subtle orange and gray signs featuring a family-friendly rewrite of a popular Rihanna tune.”

The slogan: “Mitch better have my money.”

The Senator for Moscow may have some trouble now!:)

Lindsey Graham’s loyalty to Trump threatens his re-election

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is facing as tough of an election challenge as he’s seen, but could he actually lose to Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison?

Harrison has broken fundraising records and forced Graham to spend big on attack ads in a race that’s virtually tied, according to recent polls, and at least one election forecaster is calling the race a toss-up, reported Politico.

“If Graham’s fortunes are closely tied to Trump’s,” said Scott Huffmon, a political scientist at Winthrop University, “then, for Graham to lose, you either have to predict a Trump loss in South Carolina (which would precipitate a Graham loss) or a situation in which Trump wins in South Carolina and many Trump supporters either vote against Graham, or don’t vote in the Senate race.”

Lindsey is learning that licking Trump's taint has some drawback!:D:D:D
