Conservative political strategist Rick Wilson has written a scathing obituary for his one-time party in which he predicts that embracing QAnon will become the new litmus test for Republican candidates.
Writing in The Daily Beast, Wilson begins by discussing the victory of Marjorie Taylor Greene, a conspiracy theory-spouting candidate in Georgia who appears destined to be the first follower of QAnon to be elected to Congress.
After describing Greene as “crazier than a sh*thouse rat,” Wilson argues that her political rise is a symptom of a Republican Party that has come to rely wholly on the alternative realities created by right-wing media fever swamps.
“The only safe path for Republican elected officials is to tell Trump his ass smells like ambrosia and nod eagerly when frothy, wild-eyed lunatics assert that JFK Jr. survived the crash just to save the chilllllldren,” he writes. “This is the future Republicans have bought with their dumb alliance with Donald Trump.”
Awwwww, Kanye West found a friend to help him through whatever it is he's going through, and it is Jared Kushner, awwwwww:
President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, met privately last weekend with Kanye West, the rapper who has filed petitions to get on the November ballots for president in several states.
The meeting took place in Colorado, where Mr. Kushner was traveling with his wife, Ivanka Trump, those familiar with the meeting said. Mr. West had been camping in Colorado with his family, and afterward flew to Telluride to meet with Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump ...
Yeah OK fuck off.
We have no idea what they talked about, but we bet it had something to do with Kanye's Trump/Republican-fueled campaign to get on the ballot wherever he can. We don't know why Kanye wants to do this, but we know why Trump and Republicans want to do this. They think Black people are just egregiously stupid, and will vote for the rapping man instead of Joe Biden, thus hopefully slicing away at Biden's leads. And maybe Kanye thinks that too. The Times reports that he's been repeating right-wing anti-abortion vomit about "abortion rates among Black women," and in an interview with Forbes, Kanye seemed well aware that he's doing this to hurt Joe Biden.
Taking his cue from a highly criticized Newsweek column that suggested that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) might not be legally eligible to serve as vice president, Donald Trump gave it some credence on Thursday — and that could be damaging to Republicans if they remain silent and don’t push back, wrote a CNN political analyst.
According to CNN’s Chris Cillizza, the president has reached into his 2016 “birther” playbook to attack Harris because he seemed unprepared for her candidacy and, after being criticized for playing the birther card on former President Barack Obama, it’s not going to fly with a public that has grown wise to his racist attacks.
Writing that the real story will end up being “the silence of the Republican establishment and its elected leaders” the analyst added, “it’s that silence, and the tacit acceptance that ‘Trump is Trump,’ that will define the GOP long after Trump leaves office — whether involuntarily in 2021 or four years later. The willingness to simply swallow known falsehoods or dismiss them with a ‘I didn’t see the President’s remarks’ or ‘I’m sorry, I have to get to a meeting’ is what will, ultimately, do the lasting damage for a Republicans.”
Saying that failure to adhere to basic principles is “how party die,”Cillizza wrote the Republican Party has lost all credibility since it became “a cult of personality” surrounding Trump.
“Its devotion to balanced budgets and reducing the debt load on future generations? Gone. Its commitment to block attempts by a president to run the country by executive orders and end-runs around Congress? Gone. Its fealty to family values, as it relates to marriage and extramarital affairs? Gone. Its support for international trade agreements? Gone,” he charged.
‘This is a RICO case’: Top Obama advisor urges Dems to ‘go to war for our country’ over Trump USPS attack
Trump on Thursday at least twice admitted his goal in blocking funding for the USPS is to stop Americans from voting by mail during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We’ve never needed Democrats in Congress more than we do now,” David Plouffe writes. “The whole enterprise is on the line. The Biden campaign has no oversight or fiscal power. Neither does the press. Letters, statements, outrage are not enough. Time to go to the mattresses. Now.”
Trump has also installed a Postmaster General with massive conflicts of interests who is literally dismantling major elements of the nation’s postal system, including removing hundreds of mail sorting machines, removing mailboxes, and banning overtime – all of which have slowed mail delivery, according to some, by weeks.

I'd love to know whom they intend to replace McCarthy with if they feel he's too close to Trump. Everyone else in the leadership is, if anything, more right-wing than McCarthy!

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) — along with several other GOP lawmakers — was raked over the coals by MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough on Monday morning for their part in leaving Donald Trump in office, which his critics claim has now led to him trying to steal the November election by trying to cripple the Post Office.
Using the president’s own words last Friday that he was withholding funds from the USPS in order to disrupt mail-in voting, the MSNBC host reminded the Maine Republican of her comments after the president’s Senate impeachment trial. Collins had remarked that Trump had “learned his lesson.”
Writing in the Washington Post this Monday, columnist Jennifer Rubin says that President Trump has adopted the strategy of trying to show how chaotic, dysfunctional and dangerous things have become, in the hope that it will scare voters into reelecting him.
The U.S. Postal Service is the latest thing Trump is trying to sow fear around.
“In doing so, he sows fear in voters (especially his own) about casting ballots by mail. But recent mail slowdowns caused by policies enacted by the new USPS head — a major Trump donor — can mean disrupted delivery of medicine to veterans and millions who receive prescriptions by mail, unemployment checks to laid-off workers and Social Security checks to retirees,” Rubin writes.
In a long appraisal of the American conservative movement on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” longtime columnist George Will hammered away at his ideological brethren for blindly following Donald Trump and turning to a “cult of victimization” lacking any principles at all.
Sitting in with co-host Joe Scarborough, author Anne Applebaum, and conservative commentator David Frum, the state of conservatives over the past three and a half years was dissected with Will expressing deep disgust at what Trump has done to the Republican Party.
“Donald Trump setting out to make America great again, set out to make America more European in the sense it has injected this tribalism and made it normal in our politics,” he elaborated. “This coincided with the fact that a lot of American conservatives are shocked because they are Christians and the society is increasingly secular. Third, American conservatives have bought into the cult of victimization — they like to feel they are put upon by academics, Hollywood, the media and all the rest and they are an embattled minority in their own country. This makes for a very toxic group.”
a vote for biden is a vote for stupid!!!

Trump Is Facing a Nationwide Wave of Backlash Over His Postal Service Sabotage
The New York Times reports that due to mail delays in rural Michigan, diabetes medicine that used to arrive in three days now takes two weeks to arrive.
Veterans Affairs uses USPS to fill about 80 percent of veteran prescriptions, and hundreds of veterans have contacted their senators to report missing prescription deliveries. The delays led former Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré to tell MSNBC that Trump’s attacks on the USPS “have to stop!”
The USPS and its employees have been sounding the alarm. The post office warned that in nearly all 50 states, current mail delays mean ballots may not be received by election offices in time to be counted. Jonathan Smith, president of the New York Metro Area Postal union, told NY1 the delays are due to the actions of DeJoy. “If you were to leave the Postal Service under the exact same conditions Mr. DeJoy found it, using the overtime, using the staff we do have, we would have absolutely no problem delivering on our mission to make sure every ballot is getting back to the election committee on time.”
There have been more calls for investigation from lawmakers, including Sen. Gary Peters (D-Michigan) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts). Peters opened an investigation into the mail delays following DeJoy’s failure to respond to his repeated inquiries. Warren called for the Post Office’s inspector general to investigate changes the USPS has made to slow mail delivery, and highlighted DeJoy’s potential conflicts of interest, including stock in the logistics giant Amazon, which he purchased following his appointment. The Post Office’s inspector general confirmed on Friday that they are reviewing DeJoy’s policy changes.
State lawmakers have also called for local law enforcement to investigate. Arizona’s Secretary of State Katie Hobbs asked their attorney general to investigate whether Trump and DeJoy’s actions violate an Arizona state law that prohibits anyone from knowingly delaying the delivery of a ballot. In New Jersey, Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. made a criminal referral to New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal, asking him to examine whether or not Trump and DeJoy breached state election laws with their actions. Pascrell said, “What trump and his crony are doing is criminal. Period.”
