Yes, I expect you to be psychic and know what I have and haven't seen.

Or just take a guess.

Anyway, just point me in the direction of something good, damn it!

Frustrated in Fremont,

The name of the rose. 80s movie with Sean Connery. It has one of the most arousing sex scenes I've ever seen. The novel is brilliant, Italian.

What sort of film?

Tragedy, comedy, history, pastoral, pastoral-comical, historical-pastoral, tragical-historical, tragical-comical-historical-pastoral?

I just watched The Hunter with Willem Dafoe the other day and enjoyed it. It's not the most unpredictable thing out there but the performances are all very good. It's sort of a philosophical thing, not quite a thriller because it more smolders than thrills, but the ending is magnificent.

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen, period. Wager you haven't seen it and if you do, you won't forget it.

Oasis (2002)

Oasis (Hangul: 오아시스) is South Korean Lee Chang-dong's third feature film, and the last one he directed before his stint as South Korea's Minister of Culture. The film's plot tells about the difficult romance between a mildly mentally disabled man who was just released from jail after a two and a half year sentence for involuntary manslaughter and a woman with severe cerebral palsy. Starring in these roles are the couple from Lee Chang-dong's previous film Peppermint Candy: Sol Kyung-gu and Moon So-ri. The movie also shows how the two main characters are treated by their families and perceived by the people around them.

I thought Choke was pretty good, but if you want something not so mainstream - L'annulaire is fantastic.

If you have a love of poetry and a sadness for apartheid , "Black Butterflies" -- not Black Butterfly. You did ask for a movie, correct? If you love "Black Butterflies" let me know and I'll recommend another about, take your pick, a modern day impact of the Holocaust, the selling of children into a form of slave labor by the UK and Australian gov'ts in the 1980s, the US Gov't's part in the selling of sex slaves today. All but one are true stories.

Underworld
