I'm looking to fill some time while I travel layer this week, so I'm looking for reading recommendations. When I look at the long lists of stories that people have written, I am a little overwhelmed by the number of choices. Scores mean nothing, so I need help.

I am asking to have you, the authors, to recommend one or two of your own stories that you think I might most enjoy.

Here is what I choose to avoid:

1. I don't read incest or transsexual.
2. I am not interested in sci fi, non-human, or mind control (although they aren't really out of the question).
3. Mushy gushy romance isn't my thing, but I'll still read it.
4. I avoid interracial because I think those stories should be categorized elsewhere. I know there's an audience for it, but I think somebody once had a dream that skin color wouldn't be a big enough deal to have its own category.
5. "She came three more times..." This does nothing for me without a description of how.

Here's what I look for in the stories I read (not necessarily all in the same story):

1. Interesting, fun, scary, historical, etc. plot. I like a lot of things, but I need entertainment or education or something. I often skim over the sex parts, so the plot is important. (Doesn't have to be long. A short, fun tale is good too.)
2. I like surprises, especially a good surprise ending. (These don't always bring high ratings. I learned that the hard way.)
3. I prefer something well-written.
4. If I had my choice, I would select stories from a "hodge-podge" category. I would rather have a variety of categories represented in a story. I don't like to select gay or straight, kinky or not.

So, what should I read? (Please don't tell me what to avoid. That won't be helpful.)

Thanks for your help!

With the exception of incest your tastes are pretty even with mine. I also am not a fan of interracial, but my reasoning is I feel its demeaning the way the black man/white women sex is portrayed. Demeaning to both actually, but that's my take.

This one falls a little under mushy romance, but has a lot more plot than crazy sex

This one is under fetish, but foot, nothing way out there and has some humor in it.

This one is a lot of fun, a basic teacher/student fantasy, but with a little twist that is kind of a play on us here at literotica (the student writes erotic stories)

And this is just a fun group sex story with a decent mix of story and sex.

Most of my stories are romantic-leaning and most have happy endings, but I don't think they're mushy. :)

For a longer one, I'd recommend "Rhythm & The Blue Line." It's a romance about a musician and a hockey player, and it's more about the relationship than the sex and I (hope) I have some humor in there as well.

For a couple of shorter ones, I'd recommend: "Who Cares What I Wear?" or "Unexpected Gifts."

The former is about a woman who is missing the man who left her, but there's a twist. The latter is a light-hearted Christmas romance, where I was having fun with some things and again, there's a little twist.

I don't necessarily avoid fetish, although it's a pretty broad category. I don't avoid BDSM either, but I'm selective about what I get to the end of.

Basically, I can handle a lot of "out there" if I like the story.

And just to be clear, I don't always skip the sex parts. I like those too. ;-)

A Star is Born- NAKED

http://www.literotica.com/s/a-star-is-born-naked

I always recommend this story. It's amazing. The quality of writing & dialogue is some of the best I've ever seen.

It's about a young theater actress who scores a big role on Broadway, only to learn that she's required to nude on stage.

It's very entertaining to read. 5 pages.

DON'T read my novel (noted in my signature) because it's too corny; boy meets girl and fall in love; talk about mushy gushy, they're both virgins. Very Disney-esque like Cinderella meets Prince Charming (a theme I brazenly espouse in the writing.) The dark side is the sexual awakening of a young girl with influences from an older boy.

I could call it historical because it really happened - to me. Well, it IS set in the late 1960s with lots of attention to period details like sock-hops and high school emotional drama with mentions of Vietnam War and MLK assassination riots. True, there isn't much sex in the beginning but who wants to wait 46 chapters for the main character to lose her virginity?

How can any first novel written by a grandma with only a high school diploma be well written? Maybe using 6 editors and a few beta-readers over a three-year development has smoothed it over a bit. Maybe some people (men and women) have said that I'm an entertaining story teller, but that isn't enough of a reason to invest the time reading 130,000 words.

I can't write fiction as I'm finding out. Other than a couple of based-on-life stories I've posted here on Lit, I can't get a plot going about anything other than memories. No, don't read my stuff. Sorry, you did say not to do that.

I've only got one story here so far, Stringed Instrument, so I'll pimp that :) The main theme is "same-sex romance", but it wanders into mild BDSM here and there, and a lot of it is non-erotic. I did a rewrite without the sex; it only lost about 20% of the word count and I think it still holds up, although I haven't posted that rewrite here.

The plot is mostly about character interaction - no car chases or mysterious killers here, though there is a bit of death. I don't think it's mushy-gushy.

I'll add it to the list, but which of YOUR STORIES should I read? (Or are they all incest?)

Well, I am interested in the 60's (I was born in '72, so I missed them). It's a long trip, and I'm a fast reader, so who knows? Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Thanks for playing! :)

I'm not actually allergic to mushy-gushy or anything. I just like something different from what I can get at home. Same-sex certainly fits that bill.

Thanks for playing!

If you need a quickie, you can always grab something from my RR name :)

Yes, but the list is pretty long. I hate to choose by ratings because I know how little they mean. Humor me. Name a couple. It's more fun that way!

I'm actually strangely fond of "Jerk" ( which is probably why it's the first one I continued, and may continue even further )

Labor Day is another favorite. Souvenir, Summer's Heat, and Nude Holly Day as well.

I'm really fond of most of them, but those all popped off the top of my head.

If you enjoy lesbian, you might like "Meeting Robbie." Despina is sci-fi (and tentacles)
The rest of my stuff is elsewhere. :)

PennLady's "Rhythm and the Blue Line" was really good. and usually I don't like romance. Well written and down to earth. Draws you in and holds you.

Lovecraft's "Ashley's Special Gift" was a good story bout a couple that has fun with their friend's daughter (college student) finds out they are swinger types
Good fun one.

Haven't read all of Mistress Lynn's but "Maggie's Gift" was a really good one as I remember.

And best I can tell, Stella knows her lesbian.

I'd vouch for these, so I can recommend 'em to you here I guess.

You recently favorited one of my stories. You could just read more of them. There are 625 of them with a lot of variety and foreign/period/unusual settings and plotlines. That would keep you busy for a while. :D

Ill give you some older stories, ones from my favorites list.

Try anything by BlackShanglan but if you want my recommendation to start with, it's Scold's Bridle - one of the few erotic horror stories on here that actually stayed with me.

The second author name I recommend would be Fusionnée. They have just two submissions and both are exceptional.

You're welcome to sift through my offerings (link in my sig). I write in mostly all genres, but a reasonable sampling would be these:

Blown Away
Cattleya
Dawn's Very Special Halloween Party
Going Goth (7 chapters)
One Dozen Roses
Out of Range
Rewrite
Someday ... I'll Find You
The Snow Globe

Enjoy. :D

Lee, I think you better not travel at this time. You MUST stay home - you have too much reading to do...

Sorry I'm late, but I hope you have the time to read all the way down this thread to these.

Do step-siblings qualify as Incest? If not, I would suggest you read Lucid Ending. It's the best story I've written by miles.

I have recently written some lesbian stories. They have a lot more plot development than wham-bam sex. White Lies and How To Catch A Falling Star. I do have a single gay male story too. Unmasked and Exposed.

I also have a very unconventional Romance series going. It's not mushy. I think you'll quite enjoy Living with Katrina.

Finally, after your mood has been thoroughly dampened by the above stories, you can top it off with my humour series Black Sheep. If nothing else, it will make you giggle.
