Reading list recommendations

When I read Shock Radio, I was totally picturing Bulldog from Frasier. Was I close?

No, actually, Joe Rags was based partially on a local AM radio personality (who really isn't a shock jock at all) and partially on Mancow Muller, who portrays himself as a completely degenerate slimeball.

Bulldog is tame in comparison :p

OK, it has been 10 days patientlee; is your trip finished? Are you going to reveal which of the multitude of recommended Lit stories you managed to read on the trip? I am sure that there are a number of anxious Lit writers peeing in their pants, wondering if they made the cut.

[OK, "peeing in their pants" was overkill. Sorry about that one, the devil made me do it.]

Please! Don't pee your pants!

Well, I haven't had a real method to my madness in how I've selected what I've read. I've left some comments, sent some pm's and responded to some in this thread. There are a couple that I read early on that I didn't comment on yet. I'm getting there though.

And, in my defense, I'm still working on the story for my husband's birthday (which was last week), and I spent WAY too much time trying to put together the FAWC puzzle yesterday. I ended up guessing on most of them anyway, but at least I had some samples all lined up for me to read here to compare against. It was more fun than the NY Times crossword!

Really, if I had a dollar for every promise... :)

No, actually, you owe me nothing so if you find time, that would be nice.

Just wanted to note that I am still getting to my reading list. Slowly, but I'm still working on it. I'll still take recommendations too, I just might not get to them for a while. School starts tomorrow. Time to put the hobbies in storage. No hum. :(

Sorry I'm late, but I hope you have the time to read all the way down this thread to these.

Do step-siblings qualify as Incest? If not, I would suggest you read Lucid Ending. It's the best story I've written by miles.

I have recently written some lesbian stories. They have a lot more plot development than wham-bam sex. White Lies and How To Catch A Falling Star. I do have a single gay male story too. Unmasked and Exposed.

I also have a very unconventional Romance series going. It's not mushy. I think you'll quite enjoy Living with Katrina.

Finally, after your mood has been thoroughly dampened by the above stories, you can top it off with my humour series Black Sheep. If nothing else, it will make you giggle.

I can't believe I haven't gotten to these yet. I've been caught up in contest entries and WORK! :(

Thanks for the comment on Wicked Hot. That officially bumps you to the top of my reading list. :D

Oh, and to respond to your comment about the lack of 12 inch erections in the story- I don't care to write about what I can get at home. ;) ;)

(Ok. I'm a liar.)

You're welcome. I'll read the other entry as well over the weekend.

One of the stories in my head is a parody of a black space pirate with a lightyear long dick. Try and get that at home! ;)

Sorry, got into this late been out of town. Since everyone else filled your list I'll just give you one story. Hum... well Halloween is coming up how about something a bit dark and macabre.

One of the darkest stories I've wrote, I entered it in the Halloween contest but it didn't do well. Too dark and spooky maybe. Never got a lot of comments on it either.

But I loved writing it.

This was very funny. Thanks for the recommendation.

I've loved that one since the very first time I saw it on another site :D

I wonder sometimes if Dreamworks shouldn't be paying him royalties for "Megamind" The story isn't the same, of course, but that fun villain vibe is very much there.

I'm not afraid of the dark.

I'm not afraid of the dark, but I am afraid of fire. This will haunt me. I wrote a creepy one about an old mill. I may write a sequel some day. Creepy old buildings are such fodder for the mind.

I left a comment. Excellent story.

I left a comment. Excellent story.

"Glad you liked it," I say as I hold my hands over the burning arsonist. "Talk about a.... hot, sex scene."

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was one of those stories that as I researched it everything just dropped into place. Started with just the title and the need to write a Halloween type story. Then it was like boom, boom, boom everything just slotted in like Tetris.

THanks

I've only got one story here so far, Stringed Instrument, so I'll pimp that :) The main theme is "same-sex romance", but it wanders into mild BDSM here and there, and a lot of it is non-erotic. I did a rewrite without the sex; it only lost about 20% of the word count and I think it still holds up, although I haven't posted that rewrite here.

The plot is mostly about character interaction - no car chases or mysterious killers here, though there is a bit of death. I don't think it's mushy-gushy.

I read the first chapter. It definitely reeled me in. I will be back for more. :)

I might as well throw two of my personal faves in here.... Eat Your Fuckin Cake and Fit to be Tied. Have a good trip!!:D

Another one I read, but didn't comment on- Eat Cake. I liked this, particularly the ending. I also liked the tone of the story. Went well with the title. LW isn't my preferred genre, but this was a good read.

(I didn't comment at the time because we were driving through some horrible rain on our trip. We had gotten off the highway to find a Walmart, pulling a 30 foot camper. We had to turn around due to a flooded road past where GPS and iPhone said Walmart would be. It was not pretty. The kicker was the snowplow we saw when we got off the highway to find another Walmart. They had just finished clearing another flooded roadway. You don't see snowplows in August too often, even in New England.)

Okay, I'll toss a few out in hope of glowing praise or at least a nod they don't suck too bad... :)

I will add you to my reading list. Although, as LaRascasse can attest to, leaving a comment on one of my stories bumps you right to the top! ;)

I read The Fluffer about a month ago, but I don't think I commented. It was a fun read. Desperation drives people to some crazy things. Being a fluffer is crazier than most, but makes for a great story.

Thank you. Do you have a story from your inventory that you would recommend?
