hey folks....

my guy and i need to use condoms for a while .... ( the whole antibiotics / birth control concern) ....

any recommendations for condoms allowing for the best sensation while still protecting against pregnancy...

thanks

The animal skin ones are the best for sensitivity. The are the next best thing to nothing at all.

Unlike latex condoms, they do not protect against the transmission of HIV. Also, they cost quite a bit more.

Any condom with proper lubrication, both inside as well as outside, should be satisfactory.

Most problems are the result of insuficient lubrication.

my 3 1/2 cents...

Hubby doesn't like wearing them -- he says they constrict too much. HOWEVER, we found some that are rather expensive -- $9.00 for a box of 3. These are the ONLY ones he prefers as they allow for roominess for him and sensations for me. I think they're Lifestyles -- it's a white/clear-ish box. But, if I remember the name I'll send you a PM!

Back when I had a need for condoms (and hoping to need them again sometime in the future) I always you Trojan Ribbed with nonoxyl - 9 . They came in a gold box.

there are Spiral condoms out there. they are latex and kind of expensive (from what I remember). I wanna say that lifestyles makes them, but I'm not sure.

Durex Avanti non-latex are our faves. Mr K's found it so unrestrictive, he has on occasion had to 'stop' and check to make sure it was still there!

Are the Durex Avanti non-latex ok for HIV?. The animal skin type are good for birth control, and the also feel almost as good as nothing at all, but they are not considered safe for prevention of HIV. I thought (maybe incorrectly) that only latex condoms were safe for HIV.

Good question, I am not sure and I don't have a box handy to check. Being married and monogamous and all we use them strictly for the birth control factor, so the HIV question didn't occur to me. But I am sure Durex has a website where you could find out.

Condoms definately do restrict, and at one point kind hurt, since it usually takes a while for me to cum. What was the roomier brand that your husband prefered?

Okay, I picked up more of the Durex Avantis today. They are made of polyurethane and are thinner than latex, which is I assume why Mr K has found them preferable. They can also be used with oil-based lubricants, which (gosh I hope you all already know this) can't. It says on the box, "Made from a revolutionary new material, Durex Avanti are much thinner than latex condoms, giving you the most natural feeling while still providing the protection you need", so I assume that means they protect from HIV transmission as well as pregnancy? It doesn't specifically say that though. Hmm.

I've used, and enjoyed, the Durex Avanti's. PinkOrchid's right-- they haven't been through as much testing as latex condoms. On the box, it actually says something to the effect of "These condoms have not yet been shown to be fully effective at blocking STD's" That said, they are expected to be at least as effective as latex, and they have the advantages of being usable with oil-based lubes AND not inducing allergic reactions.

Nice condom website. Now I would like to try out each one of their recommendations personally, and I would like to find a lovely assistant to help. Strictly for research purposes of course. :D

I thought the number 1 lookled kinda cool. Have to talk my boyfriend into trying new things. I was actually looking for comments on the Female Condom. I couldn't find any good or bad reviews. Anyone have anything to say?

speaking of condoms, or lack thereof, can anyone tell me ways I might have screwed up my pregnancy test? It was an ept, and I think I didn't do it right.

My ex-wife always wanted to use the lambskins, but I don't know why.

I think it's kinda sexy when the girl puts it on me.
