Oh I agree with you. The Richard in those books _was_ an ass. But he was always described as so hunky too. I thought it weird how she could like someone with such a bad personality, but she was really smitten with his looks, I think.

I like it when a man starts to look a little frayed around the edges. They tend to be more complicated then. I imagine this guy is sad or haunted because he use to be extremely hot and now his age is showing just a little.

To me, his look is what I call "hard southern white man eyes." Sometimes I like that look, other times it scares me. It's not that I think I'm unattractive, but I do think I might send off a vibe that a lot of girls are intimidated by. I do a lot better when I hang out in the trendier areas of Miami, but it cracks me up that I have better luck with more attractive women. Or at the very least more sophisticated.
