i once dated an emergency room nurse...one night she offered me "poppers"..i don't know the medical name but it came from the hospital..

the experience heightened the sexual experience in an amazing way...the second time i saw that vial my body acted as if on its own...

according to her there is little danger in using poppers once in a while....so i have two questions

are poppers generally safe for a healthy individual ?

and....

do they affect women the same way they do men ?

I know there are health professionals on this board so please feel free to explain what you know...and i really want to hear from people who know about this drug in particular

thank you

please don't spread opinions as fact

Amyl nitrite datasheet

Transient episodes of dizziness, weakness, or syncope or other signs of cerebral ischemia due to postural hypotension may develop following inhalation of amyl nitrite, particularly if the patient is standing immobile. To hasten recovery, measures which facilitate venous return such as head-low posture, deep breathing and movement of extremities may be used.

Tolerance to amyl nitrite may develop with repeated use of the drug for prolonged periods of time.

High doses of nitrites may produce methemoglobinaemia, especially in individuals with methemoglobin reductase deficiency or other metabolic abnormality that interferes with the normal conversion of methemoglobin back to haemoglobin.

Amyl nitrite should be taken by the patient when seated or lying down

I don't see any of these being negative except for prolonged use

the gas they use to pressurize whiped cream cans is food grade nitrous oxide (which should not be used, use the ez whips canisters)

thank you for the explanations and the link...i suspected anything as powerful couldn't be all that harmless

now about that ecstasy....i've never tried it and i recently read the govt paid study that condemned it was recalled because the study was flawed (the researcher actually tested speed and has raised issues over previous studies of other drugs)...

thank you again

What did you want to know about MDMA? I can point you to a truck load of information if you want. And ,don't tell anyone, but I may have taken a pill, or several hundred, in my lifetime. (Where did you think I got the user name from?)

hi xtacy....thank you for the offer of information...i once and sometimes still do use the sobriquet of "rollmeone" so i'll trade pokes to the ribs and a wink wink, nudge nudge about what ever happened in the past...smile...

please tell me anything you'd like to about ...mdma...i recently read that researchers think it may be helpful for people suffering from stress disorders and depression...

though i'm more interested in um...esoteric things...feel free to pm me

extasy = long term use is harmful to memory and the ability for the brain to regulate normal high's so you 'flat line' all the time.

its fabulous. Its THE best ever drug for me. But, its harmful. Very. I did it regular for a year, and now, five years on, are picking up some of the pieces still. You cause a lot of damage as you go down, and go down you will eventually. 'what goes up......'

Poppers for women, yes, exactly the same, having discussed it thoroughly with male mates. And it is amylnitrate or however its spelled, and shit loads of brain cells fuck off this mortal coil for each sniff love. Depends how much you can afford to lose once youve spilled your beans, to the mdma drug allready.

So yeah, go have the BEST time you will ever have, but just know, that you will at some point in your life, have to repair the damage you willingly did.
With friends like you, your body doesnt need enemies.?

thanks shelleb4...that's the kind of thing i want to know..my personal guide is not to use anything that might damage the brain..

and i think in general the higher the high...the lower the low...and i am more than willing to skip the high ..

i asked because i hear things from people but didn't know the truth of what they say..and i know govt sponsored studies lie to keep their funding

I was fortunate enough to have had friends who were friends of a doctor who did the first MDMA experiments in the mid-to-late '80's... He would send the pure stuff back from the university. There were all sort of strange variations - MDA, ADAM, something called "euphoria" that kept you up all night... It was interesting to watch my friends try all these different variations.

The bad news is that several of them have had some strange and frightening neurological symptoms later on.

I'd say to stick with beer and reefer!

Oh - as for "poppers", I've heard that people with a heart condition should stay the hell away from them...

I may or may not have partaken in this recreation in the recent past. ;) ;) But I can honestly say, I don't think I will ever touch it again.

And I LOVE it. I think it is the best drug, as far as the high is considered, that I've ever tried. Mostly because I cough way too much when I smoke pot.

Why won't I ever do it again though? Because since the last time I popped a pill, I have delved into a deep depression, my self esteem has never been lower. I admit that this may not be the only reason for this, that there are other factors, but I highly doubt that it had nothing to do with it.

Because of this, I can't imagine it being a treatment for depression, unless the people are just looking to rid themselves of depression for a few hours!

My advice: Don't do it. If you do? VERY infrequently, I think even once a month can affect you too much.

My advice is that if you eat deep fried mars bars for breakfast lunch and dinner then you will fairly quickly die from a heart attack. But every so often aint too bad.

The thing that most people don't appreciate about drug culture is that it's not like drinking culture where you drink till you pass out. With drugs, less is more. The whole idea is to only take enough to bend reality to your favour. Once you start taking something excessively, then the negative aspects of that drug start to become more prevalent, and it loses it's magic.
The second thing to keep in mind is to have the right mindset and philosophy behind taking the drug. MDMA will not make you happy and 'loved-up' like they tell you. You have to have these feelings inside of you firstly, then the pill will only amplifiy these emotions. MDMA is likened to the accelerator for your emotions. Well you take a pill just the smallest happy thought suddenly becomes the most amazing thing in the world for that moment. However the flip side is also correct. If you have a little bit of anxiety in you, it can suddenly turn into an anxiety attack. However, usually the duration of these attacks are mere seconds and if you are with friends you will suddenly have happy thoughts again.

So if you think that drugs are toys and treat them accordingly, then you will be chewed up and spat out by your own fears and insecurities. But if you treat them with respect and go about things sensibly, then they will be your best friend.

Well put, Xtacy.

Drugs are a lot like gambling - when it stops being fun, you have to know when to quit and go home...
