I have been reading for quite some time but I still haven't wrote nothing so I decided to give it a try, I want to write something with a big plot twist in it but it's really difficult

"Jackie, Jackie, Jackie ... you're so trusting. You really thought Bradley was infatuated with you?" Evelyn leaned closer, staring at Jackie's face. "No, that expression says that you thought he was in real, romantic love with you!" Her laughter pierced Jacqueline's heart like serrated knives.
I wrote the above bits while I was composing the message.By the way what is the name of your story I will give it a read ?
Yeah it could be a big commitment but I will still give it a read I might learn a thing or two from you lolI wrote the above bits while I was composing the message.
As so many writers here have said: ideas are the easy part. Writing the entire story down and then polishing it until it shines is hard.
My stories are linked below. The one with the best plot twists (in the author's opinion) is Pranked: Barbie, but it's also a full-length novel, so maybe a big commitment for you to read. If you like historical drama, "Still Picture" has its twists, and the title is a pun (FWIW)
What category are you writing this story in? The test would very based off thatI have been reading for quite some time but I still haven't wrote nothing so I decided to give it a try, I want to write something with a big plot twist in it but it's really difficult
Thanks, I will definitely read yoursI love plot twists and feature many in my stories.
In this one, I even tell the readers it is coming: "Twist At The Dallas Strip Club"

Good luck with your story....Patty![]()
I think it will be in lesbian category, technically it's a story about a lesbian and a straight girlWhat category are you writing this story in? The test would very based off that
I think you are totally right it would be so much easier to start with a basic story and it would probably help me get rid of the block I have at writing but the thing is since a young age I always was inspired by plot twists even in movies it's the thing that inspires me the most that's why Iwant to start with it you know I want it to be like my signature or something like thatPlot twists can be tricky. Don't feel that you need to include one in your very first story! A good plot is at best third on the list of important story characteristics for writing smutty stories. You can always start with a basic boy-meets-girl-and-they-fuck scenario.
Yeah I think I will follow your advice and post it by short bits here, is there a specific thread where I should post the bits or can I do it anywhere? As long as I'm reading this topic: go ahead and write. I mean, literally. Finish this message, then pull up Notepad or whatever and write a couple of paragraphs. If you're just starting, they might suck. Write them anyway. You'll make mistakes, and the only way to get them out of the way is to write them, learn from them, and move on.
Don't be afraid to post short bits here, IF you have a thick skin, for comments by the assembled writers.
Thanks for the adviceStart small. Write it as a very short story first. 1000 words is plenty of space to set up an unexpected twist.
Now you have a beginning, middle and end. It could be expanded, embellished, made more powerful with added details and background. Decide what you think your short story is missing, and add that in, say 500 words at a time. Or 250. Or 100.
But don't be afraid to start small, and get a small beginning, middle and end down on paper.
Thank you so much I didn't think I would find so many people giving advice and with a lot of details thanks again I really appreciate it, as for my story I will share a bit of it with you to have your opinion and hear what you think. My story is about a girl who get arrested for trying to sell drugs, while being interrogated she gets the visits of a female prosecutor who give her a proposition she can lower the girl sentence but the girl have to please her if the girl refuse she will add on her sentence, the prosecutor is a lesbian who has a thing for straight girl, so in the story we will dive in what it must be like for a straight girl to please a woman for the first, so after the girl is done pleasing the prosecutor its reveal that the girl is in fact a cop that is undercover on a sting operation to arrest the female prosecutor, the girl did it out of revenge because one day her sister was arrested for something really basic but had to do 10 years of jail since she refused the proposition of the prosecutorYep, I'll echo pretty much everyone else. Start small especially. Also don't judge your work too harshly as you write, try to focus on getting the skeleton of the story out first, you can always go back and add more (or remove some) later, it doesn't have to be picture perfect right out of the gate (they're called rough drafts for a reason).
Plot twists aren't actually all that hard. Pulling them off in a satisfactory way is the hard part. It's a delicate balance between providing enough foreshadowing that an astute reader can guess what's coming, or a less astute one can look back and realized there were clues all along, not making it so obvious that everyone sees it coming from a mile away, and not having it just show up abruptly deus ex machina out of nowhere.
To be honest, I wouldn't worry so much about doing it well, so much as just figuring out what you want the plot twist to be. If it's a lesbian story between a lesbian and a straight girl, odds are, the straight girl realizes she's into women, and that one is pretty easy to spot coming, given your story will probably have tags and it'll be in the Lesbian Sex category. So, don't try to hide it from the reader, try to hide it from the character. There are two types of plot twists: one where the reader doesn't see it coming, and one where the characters don't see it coming. Those rom-coms where we all know the best friends are going to wind up together, it's not a plot twist for the reader, but the characters are surprised by it. There are plenty of examples (re: 99% of rom-coms) of how to do this, so you have a lot of blueprints from which to work from and use that to make your own version.
The Authors Hangout also has a ton of resources on writing craft, and a lot of people who love talking about stories and craft and helping out people who have questions. So if you get stuck on something, or are looking for advice, that's a great place to get some help from people who have a ton of experience on writing and problem solving.
I'd also be careful posting bits of your story at a time here. The general rule is that you really shouldn't post more than a few paragraphs at time, because the concern is that people will try to write stories in the forums because those aren't moderated, and they could post stuff against guidelines (we had someone blanket the forum with a bestiality story a few months back). Posting bits of it if you need help is fine though. But if you're looking to get the whole thing checked out, you should try to find a beta or alpha reader in the Editors Forum, that way you don't run into potential problems where the site might remove your content, even if the content itself isn't against guidelines, on the principle that stories should be kept in the story side of Lit.
Once you do publish your story though, if you want people to give feedback, you can post your link in Story Feedback (it's primarily for stories already published on Lit). There are several people who check that out and will likely give you pretty decent feedback on your work, what you did well, what needs improvement. Opening yourself up for critique and feedback can be tough, so I'd only recommend it if you're willing to accept that people might not like it and have no qualms saying as such. But the primary reason for doing so is to help you, that's the important thing to keep in mind for most critiques and feedback (and if they're just being assholes, fuck 'em, who cares what they think?).
Well, that's my dissertation, good luck writing your story! Always glad to see new faces and people trying their hand at writingLike I said before, don't hesitate to ask questions, and most importantly, have fun!
Definitely more of a plot twist than I was expecting. The revenge angle is solid. There are two issues with this as I see it:Thank you so much I didn't think I would find so many people giving advice and with a lot of details thanks again I really appreciate it, as for my story I will share a bit of it with you to have your opinion and hear what you think. I still have to modify some things but that is pretty much the idea being my story, tell me what you think be as frank as you want
I was driving earlier today and it came to me: even after you're experienced, what you write might suck. You have to have the strength to cut out and/or rewrite the bad stuff. I sure produce plenty of crap that you, the reader, never see.As long as I'm reading this topic: go ahead and write. I mean, literally. Ah thanks I should have thought about all this, I think I kind of have a reason for the cop agreeing to pleasure the prosecutor if she just agree to the prosecutor's position it's not enough evidence the prosecutor could later lie and say that the proposition was fake and she was just trying to make the girl confess something or manipulate her for whatever reason but if the prosecutor did recieve sexual gratification there is no way to lie out of that it's solid evidence so she has to do itDefinitely more of a plot twist than I was expecting. The revenge angle is solid. There are two issues with this as I see it:
1. The cop actually pleasuring the prosecutor is very likely illegal, or at the very least would result in her having an investigation opened into her. After all, the second the prosecutor says, "Okay, pleasure me and I'll go for a lighter sentence," that's all you need to charge her for criminal activities. The prosecutor actually receiving the pleasuring doesn't serve the case in any way, and would likely hurt it in court.
2. Given that there is no need for the cop to actually pleasure the prosecutor to get her arrested, what is the cop's motivation for doing so, assuming you decide to go ahead with her going along with it? Is she morbidly curious, and even though it risks the case, she can't help herself? I mean, this woman ruined her sister's life, so why is she unnecessarily pleasuring the prosecutor?
Now, granted, this is Lit, and porn logic doesn't have to play by the rules of reality by any means. You could have it that it was somehow necessary for her to actually engage in sexual activities with the prosecutor, but if it's not going to follow real-world legal logic, it should contain in-universe logic explaining why it was necessary for the cop to do this for a woman that she likely despises. Whether it's that she does it even though it wasn't necessary (point 2), or it was somehow necessary for the legal proceedings in some way (get her on additional charges, although I don't think it works like this), it really helps to have some basis for why people are doing the things they are, especially in a non-con situation like this where the cop is actually the one with the real power, not a totally powerless victim in all this.
If you can solve for the in-universe logic, I think you'll probably find a receptive audience for this sort of blackmail story.

Thanks for the adviceI just write. Sometimes it’s just a chunk of words that sound good. Sometimes the plot comes later.
