Peter Arnett

It was a misunderstanding. He was simply pointing out the location of Al Capone's safe.

Well, the military sure has shot itself in the foot this time. Is there anyone more appropriate to uncover the catacombs in Baghdad than Geraldo?

I don't think Arnett said much more than was being broadcast on CNN all weekend long. You don't think the Iraqi's watch CNN? Its gotta be where they get most of their 'inside' information! He's a good reporter who said too much. But throw away your NG mags over it? So now Bush has just what he wants - the only media over there still able to report is his very own "Imbedded" people. Gee - how unbiased is their reporting going to be now? Now that the fear of Bush having them fired for reporting the 'wrong' things. Oh - Arnett is from New Zealand btw.

I sure Geraldo was so consumed with the mental image of how he appears here on our screens that he wasn't even thinking.

As for Arnett, what I don't get is that he is obviously an intelligent man. And he is a helluva reporter. WTF else was going on in his head when he was thinking we wouldn't find out?

And yeah, while most of you were sleeping I heard he was fired. MSNBC made the announcement about 4 hours ago.

Hun (sorry, don't know your name), if you have a reporter who is supposed to be reporting for the US (in favor of) and he gets on the enemies airwaves and essentially provides this awful leader with compassion and moral support they are only going to further believe the propoganda that is being fed to them.

Now, you ask about our news? Our reporters have been telling it straight. They tell us about the setbacks while Saddam and the many foreign reporters "embedded" and reporting in favor of the muslim community are filling their people with LIES. Arnett is now guilty of this as well. To lie to them and tell them that they stand a chance? That we are now struggling with this war? This is ludicrous. Do you know what the result is? There are Iraqi muslims coming back to Iraq thinking they will fight for their country. Well, they are being setup for their own executions. Then what will you do?

Will you blame the US, the Bush Administration and/or The Coalition Troops for their deaths? When they raise guns to us?

At least we see how ugly it is. I'm not clouded about how ugly war can be. No one seems to be. The problem is, they can grasp it and want to cower from it.

Cowering solves NOTHING.
