I love peace and quiet, which is one reason why I often get up at 4-5 AM and go outside, especially on a weekend when it is really quiet. I was sitting outside this morning, listening to the morning birds and it started sprinkling a little. I could hear the raindrops hitting the grass and I was reminded of when I used to go hunting, and I would be sitting very still in the quiet forest waiting for a deer or elk, and it would start to sprinkle and I would hear the raindrops hit the leaves.

Do you like it when it quiet, or must you always have some background noise?

Peace and quiet. I get up early sometimes as well just to listen to the rain fall without the background of cars. I also have several nature CD's that I put in when I need to close the world out.

I could live out in the country and be very, very happy.

As could I if the country was quiet. My family's farm used to be very quiet, but the road the houses are on is now a major thoroughfare between Hillsboro and Beaverton/Portland. Except at late at night, you can't go 10 seconds without a car passing by at a high rate of speed, or stopping at the stop sign and starting up again - it is just too noisy.

I live on a dead end so it is usually fairly quiet here - much better than when I lived in an apartement in Bellevue. But on a morning like this, I wish my computer and refrigerator were quieter.

it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I just need to crank the stereo and sometimes if I hear even a pin drop I go bolistic. I really can't pick one over the other.

Yes, I remember the time when it was all seperate and very, very QUIET!!! ;) At the time, I was young and stupid and wanted action, noise, adventure...my how things have changed. You have to go a little further out now to get peace and quiet, although it is still here.

I love people and I like meeting new ones and learning about them...I have to allow time each day for being alone...completely alone. It helps me recharge, gives me time to visualize on my dreams, and get clear in my head.

BTW - Do you ever check your PM's??? *dropping subtle hint*

*subtle as a brick wall coming right at you*

It all depends on what I'm doing. If I'm resting or "recharging," I like quiet, anywhere from low white or pink noise to absolute quiet.

If I'm out, and having fun, I'll go to clubs with bone-vibrating bass(wearing hearing protection, of course). And if I'm playing video games; the more sound and fury, the better. I like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and I can't wait for Doom III.

Lookout! ;)

Not since last sunday when I got kicked off the 'net by my ISP. I assumed I didn't have any because I have it setup to notify me, and it usually does. I will go check now.

I like noise.

But I truly wish none of you ever experience how loud it gets for me.

Even i need a break from it sometimes.

peace and quiet

Would go for peace and quiet myself as it gives you a baseline from which any noise or action becomes meaningful.

Live in the middle of a city of 200,000 myself but the neighbourhood is country quiet and lush with vegetation and wildlife. Suits me fine.

A noisy, bustling enviornment is always action by others which has to get on your nerves sometimes.

Yep - I live in a small town of about 60k just north of Seattle, but it is quieter on my dead end street than it is on my family's farm a good 20 miles from any kind of town. I can hear I-5 droning in the background, but it is a good 2-3 miles away so I don't hear it unless it is quiet outside to start with.

I do play my stereo loud sometimes, but I can go days without the TV or music. I have gone months without TV or a stereo.

I need some noise or I go crazy. Silence is deafening to me. Usually this is never a problem, unless I'm staying at someone's place and I can't sleep with the radio on.

peace and quiet, please God, let me have some peace and quiet! Between two boys, 7 and 3, and my wifes father that always seems to be over for some reason there is never any around here. As far as living, I want the same. I wished we'd bought a house a tick further out in the country at times. This town is only about 35k people, but that is too much for me. I could more than handle being about 35 miles to the east, at the foot of the smokey mountains sitting in the middle of 10 acres and not have a neighbor in sight. Thats what I wanted, but I got out voted 1 to 1...and her one carries authority more than mine did!

Its all mood. When the kids are gone on the weekends, I crave silence, but then all of a sudden, I find my music blasting me. :)

I have to have background noise to sleep, so I run a fan on low, or there is no sleeping at all. I live out in the country, and theres nothing like those sounds....I love having my windows open, or sitting outside and taking it all in, especially at night.

Peace sells - but who's buying?

It depends - sometimes one, sometimes the other. I like to sleep with background noise though.
