I have to admit that I had never heard of Galeries Lafayette. I assumed it was the name of the building and that it now happened to contain shops and boutiques. While looking to learn more about the architecture and design elements, I found that it is actually the first French department store. Quite interesting, at least to a design and cultural history nerd such as myself. Thank you for sharing, Jack. :rose:

I knew 'le cheval', but needed to lookup 'bascule'.

There is a Galeries Lafayette in Berlin too, I was in it last summer when I visited.
