I posted a story about outdoor sex last year and was surprised to get comments complaining about the poison ivy, mosquitoes, chiggers, ticks etc if considering sex in the woods.
Apart from a few stray mosquitoes in the last few years, we don't have any of those in England - it's a green and pleasant land for sexual purposes.
I think many women would consider outdoor sex if it's private and comfortable and with an established partner, but the thrill of being caught is less common for women and with a new partner women are more likely to go for missionary position for the first time (you can see what the guy is doing, as in condom in place, aiming for correct hole, not trying to strangle you) - and lying on your back under the weight of a man tends to be way more comfortable in a bed than anywhere else.
"Green and pleasant land" -- reminds me of the song Going Down To Liverpool.
I spend a lot of time in the wilderness, and when I'm by myself I sometimes look at a landscape for its fitness for liaisons. Where I come from, one has to be mindful of snakes and ticks and poisonous plants, which are everywhere, and which can spoil even the best sexual encounter.
When I was in England, quite a while ago, I recall looking longingly to its wild areas as places for fun trysts, but my partner at the time had other ideas. So maybe the OP has a point.
