I'm all for the points. I think it gives a balance to the game and keeps people honest. I mean, without the points, Cyclops could use his full Optic Blast all the time and never get tired.

I vote to keep it.
 
I'm not good at percents. Her Soulsword only affects magical opponents and similar ilk. I don't mind the point system, its just that I don't want to assign too many or too little points. You see what I mean?
 
i'm up for it...after all the points things i've been doing it better bloody be staying lol

if ya need anyhelp with the points i've now done 6 different points systems.
 
alternatively for those with a tip calculator on their phone like mine, u can use that instead of the internet percentage calculator. I think we have to wait to see how it works in actual combat, if it proves unwieldy we can trash it then.

2. Freeze - By stopping the flow of electrical currents Vulcan can immobilize an opponent and dampen the part of the brain that allows a mutant to use their powers (costs 30 points of mutant energy)

3. Power Steal - Vulcan can manipulate a person's body to activate their mutant powers under his control. (30 points of mutant energy


Defensive Abilities

1. Energy Draw - Vulcan can draw upon the mutant energy of those around him (costs 5 points mutant energy)

2. Redirect - Vulcan can redirect the energy source involved in an attack (costs 5 points of mutant energy) (equal to the nature of the attack)

3. Flight (5)

Notes: Vulcan can only attack 3 individuals at one time. (Two hands and his eyes are the channels)



PS-I'm well aware of how powerful Vulcan is. He was selected for a reason. It may be frustrating to fight him but it is for a specific purpose which will be revealed IC and OOC.

HOW TO WRITE POINTS IN POSTS



-There won't be a rigid way to do this but the criteria will be for it to be as clear as possible while interrupting the flow of the text as little as possible.

It begins in the title. In the title or at the beginning of a post note how much Mutant Energy and Health Energy the character has. We'll use Vulcan as an example.

Since I'm controlling Cyclops and Vulcan I'll give a brief example of how a combat exchange between them can go.

Vulcan extends his hands and a brights red energy extends form his hands toward Cyclops.

"Let's see those tears brother" Vulcan says as he directs a beam of energy toward Scott's arms hoping to tap into the electrical impulses that course through his brother's muscles forcing him to remove his visor (-30 Mutant Energy).

"Nooo!" Cyclops ducks and dodges out of the way of Vulcan's blasts. Cyclops desperation attempt leaves him vulnerable on his back but it gives him an idea.

Tapping the button on his gloves his visor opens and he releases a strong optic beam directly over Vulcan's head (-60 mutant energy 90% reduction= -6). A large metal walkway directly over head becomes unhinged and begins to fall directly toward Vulcan below.

Vulcan watches as the bright crimson escapes Scott's eyes. He prepares to meet his brother's mutant power with his own when he feels the trajectory headed toward a target other than himself. The blasts escapes over Vulcan's head.

"Heh, you missed dumbass!" Vulcan screams as the walkway begins to fall toward the ground. Activating his power with his eyes Vulcan quickly blasts the falling debris and redirects the kinetic energy caused by gravity into a direction other than down (-5 M.E or mutant energy).

"In more ways that one." he says with a sick smile.

With a sharp, unnatural L motion the walkway sweeps past Vulcan and Returns toward Scott in the same path as his optic blast.

NOTE: Scott lost 60 points because that was the amount he blasted and he has no damage reduction percentage

Removing his visor Cyclops looks at his brother. He realizes that though his arms may be under his control his brother has yet to prevent him from using his power. His eyes glowing red as he summons the energy stored in his body Scott decides to give his brother want he wants.

"Take a look Vulcan. But if you expect tears you'll be disappointed." Cyclops eyes almost glow as the power stored behind them is unleased.

"I don't have ordinary eyes." he says coldly as he unleashes the full destructive range of his optic blast. (-100 ME)

"No Scott" Vulcan says as his eyes glow red. He zaps his brothers optic blasts and redirects it toward the ceiling. (-5 ME) Parts of the complex crumble and begin to fall. Vulcan's eyes glow and blasts the falling debris (-5 ME) and redirects it toward the injured Cyclops.

"I've seen enough in my lifetime. And so have you!" he says as he directs the debris to come falling atop the injured X-Man.

Looking at the sky with clear eyes Scott sees the falling debris and feels powerless. He can't move, his mutant power is gone and he is unable to use his power against one of the most powerful mutant he's ever encountered. Still, Cyclops doesn't plead and he doesn't scream. He is a soldier. Professor Xavier's first. He knew that a day like this was a possibility, a probability even. When he would give his life to face a foe who used his mutant powers for evil. He has triumph and survived countless times on his life mission. But today is different.

He won't scream, he won't plead. Cyclops won't give his enemy the pleasure. But he closes his eyes though there is no power to escape from them for the last time. He thinks of his beloved Jean, hoping that in death maybe they will be together longer than they were in life. So with a slight smile Scott doesn't even feel pain as the hundreds of pounds of metal and steel come crashing down over his battered body. (-100 ME)

There are a couple of things I want to point out.


A) Only Scott controlled what hit him and what didn't and so did Vulcan
B) The posts as Cyclops allowed Vulcan to hit him because that is what fit the nature of the posts

Once he was completely out of health energy he died.

That's pretty much the standard format. I'm still toying with how many posts need to occur before mutant energy can recharge.

Eventually that will be something we include but for now I think most need 4 posts to pass though some like Wolverine will be an exception.

Powers: (1 to 100%)
Able to produce plasma type pyrotechnics from her fingers to the point of them just being “Sparkly Lights” or have a kick to blow out a wall. (The latter is usually done when she is very emotional.)

Examples:
1% = being that Jub is giving out what would look like pixie dust falling around her ...

100% = something like she did when Mandarin captured her & she demolished the building ...

Spells:
All spells have to be recited out loud ... Refresh is the only one that doesn't have the restriction of casted during nightfall or deep shadows ... Coldfire & Darksight last til daybreak ...

Refresh – Cleans & press clothes (1%)

Coldfire – cast a blue/white fire that throws off light & a bone-searing cold almost like liquid nitrogen (10%)

Darksight – she can see as Wraith does, her eyes glow like his w/ same vulnerabilities (10%)

Call of the Hounds – specifically Hunter the leader of “the Pack” which are huge mastiffs that respond to Wraith’s command ... last til dismissed or daybreak ... (5%)

Minion’s Call – specifically calls Squint to her, if he does not find her or Wraith first ... Note: Squint kinda has a mind of his own so even if you dismissed him ... he just might come back on his own ... unless Wraith gives him an enforced command to stay in Shadows (5%)

bio : jake was raised in a comunity next to a radioactive zone. he was raised to be nice and inteligent, as well as to be realigious. around when he became 12 or so people started warping into monsters. they ate each other and became completly insane, and jake started to go crazy too. his family died and he spent his time running from the freaks, learning to survive while trying to be human. after awile he found a civilized place and stayed for awile. while there he learned to defend himself with martial arts and sidearms. he can also use explosives and machinery. Eventuly he caused enough trouble to have to leave. he came to the mansion to learn how to control his abilities and how to prevent the carnage from repeting itsellf. he wants humanity to live in peace with the world and mutains, and supports xaviers thinking.

apperence: he has light green eyes and is about 5 10 inches as a human. he is athletic, but not overly muscular. when he is in middle mode his eyes get dark green, he grows to 6 feet, and gets more muscular. in full transformation he is very muscular, almost black eyes, with dark skin, nails and is 6 6. hair color light blond, tanish.

power: has a warped phycology which allows his body to transform into a superhuman maniac. He gets enhanced sences and bosted streanth and agility. when in phycho mode he is extremely sneaky and crafty. his body can shrug off damage, and he really dosnt care about pain so it dosn't affect him much. his normal body heals quickly, and almost constantly regenerates cells while in phycho mode, so his body can shrug off damage that way. he is a little like jason and a bit like the hulk . this might be updated. jake has some decent investigation skills, and is ok at driving. he might get some power concerning radiactivity. or he may gain magic if his human self studies it. depends.

destination : student; generation x

specialty: is good at scouting since he is cautious as a man and has the streanth of a madman. he is also good at combat as the phycho is very instinctive and skilled with most hand held weponds. jake is trained with some sidearms and with more practice can be an expert. he can also interact with many forms of life wihout fear, and feels the same way towords aliens as he does twords hunankind.

in this mode his health regenerates at 15 per round, unless very severe damage. (then boosts to 20) if damage is delt while regenerating, he regenerates 10 health.
40% chance of attacking teammates in phycho mode.(higher if situation benifits it)

1.telepathic attacks are unafective because his mind is very twisted. there is a 80% damage reduction
2.can use his manuvering to help friends in need and block fatal shots with his body. 60%chance of saving friends(while not in total phycho)

about ability: he can foucus anger to transform and streanthen his body. he can also turn totaly phycho at will, ( he may turn unwillingly if under stress (more stress = 5% increase to 0% per times stressed.)) edit- (this includes posts made in the mansion) -edit but runs the risk of attacking the team. there is a 40% chance that he will lose control of himself while attacking and use weakest possible attack(depends in both middle mode and total phycho).

power level: he really dosnt use much power as his body and mind can stand alot of strain. as jake he dosnt use his power so it costs no energy. he takes along time to tire. there is an 80% reduction in both modes. this guy can just keep battling.

he needs to improve his intelegence and martial arts, as well as his control. he does have potential, no matter how dangerous he seems right now. he has a 60% chance of not understanding new technology (exluding ordinary computers).

i would like feedback about how to change him. i think im done editing.

Overall he looks okay. You can begin posting with the other students in the mansion. I see a couple of areas where you will have to make some point adjustments but mostly in the areas of percentages and such.

Interesting character, I think his backstory has some room to explore.

The reason why is that as missions increase and teams go throughout the little comic book universe we've created its important to read EVERY thread and EVERY post.

If Wraith made a distress call in his thread tonight would everyone be alert and ready?

Things like that are part of the game. So all that is up to you is to make the response, if someone doesn't read it then they pay for it in combat.

All right

everyone give themselves a round of applause. The first "mission" has been completed. Don't worry it was just a walk through it was very informative and it will help because the first mission offer is about to occur.


I'll give you all a small overview of what to expect.

A couple more aspects of the RP will happen IC. We'll get to see Elixir in action and some of the students will get a chance to move up.

The Danger Room Genesis thread is closed so all danger room sims from now on well be in the mansion institute thread.

Another Danger Room session is about to happen and this time it will include the students and select X-Men.

Several mission offers are about to occur.

Note: As per the original Gambit,Uncanny Xmen #266 the energy comes from his eyes offering a little time delay just to make it interesting.

Offensive Uses of Power

1. Lock pick (1 - 10) - small charge to open locks

2. Pick a card (10 - 50) - Charged card/dart/object that explodes once it comes into contact with an object

3. Royal Flush (10 - 100) - Five charged cards/darts thrown with varying charges that explode once they come in contact with an object.

4. Timed Charge (10 - 100) - A work in progress as he hasn't quite figured it out yet. Charging an object with energy but making it so that it doesn't explode for a small amount of time.

Defensive Uses of Power

1. Pick a card (10 - 30) - Charged card that explodes once it comes into contact with an object.

Other skills: Skilled Hand-to-hand fighter (uses an extendable, adamantium staff); Master Thief
